Contra Costa Health Services announced Tuesday a new health order requiring masks in all public indoor places without exceptions for certain indoor settings.
With the COVID-19 omicron variant circulating through the county, the county decided to no longer make exceptions for fully vaccinated public speakers and performers, and fully vaccinated groups of 100 or fewer people that were allowed to remove their face coverings under controlled conditions.
The new order, which goes into effect Wednesday, requires all people in Contra Costa, regardless of vaccination status, to mask in public indoor settings.
Contra Costa joins other Bay Area counties in requiring masks again in all public settings.
“The omicron variant is very contagious, and we now know that anyone, regardless of vaccination status, can spread this variant to other people,” said Dr. Ori Tzvieli, Contra Costa County’s deputy health officer. “We anticipate the case rate and hospitalization numbers to increase over the coming weeks. To reduce spread, cases and hospitalizations, we all need to wear masks anytime we are in an indoor public setting.”
Contra Costa’s first case of the omicron variant was identified Dec. 18, and case rates and hospitalizations have significantly increased since then. The average number of daily new COVID-19 cases has increased 149% over the last week, while hospitalizations increased 31 percent.

There are just as many scientific documents proclaiming that masks work as there are proclaiming that masks don’t work.
What convinces me that masks don’t work is that the covid is small and that it can get through a standard cloth mask.
When looking at all the versions of masks people wear in public, I believe most of those masks are pretty much worthless.
Surgical masks and N95 masks seem to be the only masks that offer any real blockage of the Covid.
That leads me to believe that unless everyone wears an N95 there is no real protection.
Additionally,
it’s becoming clearer by the day that money trumps CDC guidelines as the CDC changes its guidelines at the whim of big money, such as UAL.
With no uniformity with mask protection and little or no science behind CDC recommendation, these health orders are a bad joke.
I went to a shop the other day that proclaimed on the door to wear a mask entering. Funny thing was none of the employees were wearing masks. They must of thought me daft for wearing one.
I have N95 masks from back in 2018 when we had the bad wildfire smoke. I find them very stuffy to wear and we wore them even on walks due to the really obvious smoke. Folks commented on how stuffy they were to wear.
When masks were mandated for the “pandemic” I wore some dust nuisance masks I had on hand. It was actually hard to get a new supply of those for awhile because the hardware stores had donated their stock to health workers. I also picked up a package of the surgical masks mainly for getting haircuts because the dust masks straps would get in the way.
I still wear masks going in stores because it’s not worth a confrontation when I’m only going to be there for 10-15 minutes.
Common sense prevails.
We are in a pandemic of tyrants.

But but but but they said if I were to put the DNA changing experimental concoction in my arm, TWICE, I could ditch the mask, as well as by-passing most other restrictions! So I’m no better off than someone who hasn’t been jabbed since I can still get sick and pass it on to others? The health department is squandering what little public trust is left in their institution. Either the vaccines work or they don’t. But telling everyone to get vaccinated & boosted (which I am) to be healthy & then at the same time telling everyone that we all must wear masks even in a small setting where everyone is vaccinated makes no sense. Not to mention….I can still take my mask off in a restaurant full of vaccinated people for an hour or two while o dine….but I can’t be in an office with 5 other people who are all vaccinated? It makes no rational sense. How are we expected to continue to take them seriously?
Today, I discovered that the county offers plastic surgery for transgender purposes, but not reconstructive breast surgery for women who are cancer survivors. In my opinion, this is disgraceful and an affront to Contra Costa County taxpayers of every stripe.
As of January 1, 2022 I will no longer comply with these foolish mandates from politicians and their unelected subordinates.
