Bay Area seniors are being warned to avoid wearing expensive jewelry while outside exercising alone or instead exercise with another person because thieves may be on the lookout for more unsuspecting victims, San Ramon police said.

Two thefts occurred in San Ramon over the holiday weekend and more occurred throughout the Bay Area, according to police.

An elderly woman was out walking last Wednesday at about 3:30 p.m. on South Wedgewood Road near Mosaic Park when a white Mercedes-Benz SUV approached with two people inside.

A woman in her mid to late 30s in the rear passenger seat of the SUV started a conversation with the senior, got out of the vehicle and used a sleight-of-hand-technique to steal the senior’s necklace and bracelets.

The younger woman got back in the SUV and was driven away by a heavyset man in his 50s.

Another theft in San Ramon involved a senior out walking Sunday at about 12:15 p.m. along Cinnamon Ridge Road.

A woman in her 30s got out of a black BMW X3 and started a conversation with the victim before stealing her valuable watch using a sleight-of-hand-technique. The suspect, who had black hair in a ponytail, got back in the SUV driven by a man in his 30s and the pair left the area .

San Ramon police said the suspects in the two thefts are different. No one reported being injured.

The classic caravan of gypsies. They travels all over the place to target the elderly using trick. This scam happened at the cvs on treat Blvd; with the help of crying baby, the gypsies got the attention of an elderly man. They took all his jewelry.

Those dang cars out stealing stuff again.

German cars.

Welcome to Newsom’s (and his voters) California.

How do we know these were gypsies committing the crimes?

It serves the public better if the skin color is provided if there an intent to help spot these miscreants!

@Paul. They are also a problem I. Retail. I have been told from a police officer that when they get calls for welfare checks when they are begging for money with kids. They find logs of where the best spots to beg, how much they made, any issues or people to watch out for. Said they run it like a business.

Yup. Gangs of em sometimes beg outside of the Lafayette Whole Foods. Whole families, during school hours on a weekday.

The criminal descriptions are a little vague.

face it…DA and cops wont do crap, they don’t want to loose their retirements when the City Management tells them to stand down. You know it, I know it, THEY KNOW IT.

Remember Jussie Smoullett ? He was the Chicago actor who lied about being attacked by racists and got caught. The current DA in Chicago tried to cover up for him and the case was taken away from her. He’s on trial now.

Well our current DA ,who was caught in an act of plagiarism , co wrote an article with the Chicago DA in Politico and they asserted that the current criminal justice system is a remnant of slavery. Never mind that California was never a slave state.

Of course we know our current DA wrote a memo telling deputy DAs to take poverty into consideration before filing any theft charge, as if being poor equals being a criminal.

Our current DA was heavily funded by out of state interests who are simply interested in not removing criminals from society . We see how that’s working out.

Knox is the real deal . She cares about all of us , unlike the incumbent.

Knox is a Democrat. Nothing will change with her in office. You are just kidding yourself .

Do I have to worry about my wedding band and G-Shock now?

When I am out and about, I like to flex (“show off”) only my sterling silver cubic zirconia wedding band from Kohl’s. So, when the thief wants to snatch the ring off my left ring finger, it won’t be a big loss for me.

Hallo,

I am recent to area. Is only old people be afraid?

Thank

I have trouble making comment. Nothing show up. Help please?
