City Councilmember Surprised By Misdemeanor Charge Of Interfering With Law Enforcement

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday charged Antioch City Councilmember Tamisha Torres-Walker with interfering with law enforcement when they were called to her home on a report of shots fired last month.

It was a surprise to Torres-Walker. When interviewed Wednesday, said it was the first she had heard of the charge. “No one contacted me,” she said.

A police report on the Oct. 3 incident said neighbor calls and the city’s gunshot detection system had indicated shots fired at a large party at Torres-Walker’s home. Police reported finding seven shell casings at the scene.

The council member said Wednesday, “It’s news to me. It’s not surprising. This Police Department has been harassing me since I was sworn into office.”

She denied that anyone fired any shots at her home on Oct. 3 or that any shell casings were found on her property.

“It’s another attack on me and my family. Shots are fired almost every night in that neighborhood,” she said.

Torres-Walker, a community organizer, has reported she was arrested 22 times, all for minor offenses, by the age of 18. In 2009 she was convicted for setting fire to an apartment building, and managed to enter a rehab program for alcohol after spending a year in county jail.

No one at the Police Department was immediately available for comment Wednesday.

Let’s fast track this fine public servant to Governor or Senator. She’ll fit right in with the rest of the sociopaths who represent this state.

I was going to say the same exact thing!

WC Resident November 10, 2021 - 9:03 PM - 9:03 PM

“Shots are fired almost every night in that neighborhood.”

LOL, is Antioch City Council member Tamisha Torres-Walker trying to burnish her Internet tough girl image?

Anon November 10, 2021 - 9:06 PM - 9:06 PM

I just watched the video of her trashy azz trying to Defend the “right” of her offspring to ride off road dirt bikes and quads on the streets. Laws are Racist!!

Brian Nissen November 12, 2021 - 4:46 PM - 4:46 PM

A $500 donation to the County District Attorney’s re-election campaign got the felony charges against her sons reduced tip mis demeanors.

And this low life is a council member.

Ricardoh November 10, 2021 - 9:52 PM - 9:52 PM

A community organizer. Where have we seen that before?

*Barack Obama has entered the chat*

Gator November 10, 2021 - 9:58 PM - 9:58 PM

So you’ve been arrested 22 times and you think you are being harassed?

Randy November 11, 2021 - 6:57 AM - 6:57 AM
H November 10, 2021 - 10:04 PM - 10:04 PM

That’s good acting, like that time Alec Baldwin shot someone and was surprised by the outcome.

H November 10, 2021 - 10:15 PM - 10:15 PM

My other take:
A person exercising her right to bear arms, had her right to bear arms obstructed by local oathbreakers, with their long history of harassment and oathbreaking, to imprison her for the >23rd time.

Remarkably, her position in the city council did not buy her enough power to escape the icy hands of government corruption; however, she was just an Antioch City Council Member, which my explain why it didn’t break news and no one cared.

ConcordRes2 November 11, 2021 - 12:08 AM - 12:08 AM

She is part of the government corruption she is a politician!!!!!

Schmee November 10, 2021 - 10:21 PM - 10:21 PM

I never understood why people have hyphenated last names. It’s a sign of a failed marriage either by you or your parents just pick a damn name and go with it.

Antler November 11, 2021 - 3:48 AM - 3:48 AM

Schmee, I know some people with hyphenated last names, but none fit your diagnoses.
1. One young woman in her late teens:
Her parents divorced about a year ago. She loves and wants to honor both of them, so she has legally now put her mother’s maiden name first and hyphenated it before her father’s last name…. (the only time I’ve ever heard of anyone doing that.

2. One neighbor’s husband was killed in Iraq. She remarried maybe 10 years later and chose to hyphenate the name to honor her first husband.

3. Then a relative was divorced and has children from both marriages. I’ve never asked her about it, but my guess is that it was a way to make the two sets of children feel equally treasured. It might might have some pertinence to anchoring certain trust funds, but that’s out of my field.

4. The hyphenated last names also have a certain British royal aspect too, eh wot? So maybe that is the appeal for some? That would be a rather mild form of “quirky”, so I’m good with that, too.

Ian November 10, 2021 - 10:32 PM - 10:32 PM

“Shots are fired almost every night in that neighborhood”
Sounds like she’s not concerned or doesn’t consider that an issue. Quality leadership!

little rant November 10, 2021 - 10:40 PM - 10:40 PM

i live in antioch and have heard of many other things….she was the head of the police oversight comm, and has since stepped down but is still on the committee. Now there are rumors that she, and other council people are trying to get the power to hire and fire the new chief……how crazy is that?? oh wait….she donated to DA becton about the same time her son had a charge bucked down to a misd…..and the list goes on……what are people thinking when they vote for people like her??

Original G November 10, 2021 - 11:15 PM - 11:15 PM

Informed voters ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Janus November 10, 2021 - 11:38 PM - 11:38 PM

Oh this must have chapped Becton’s hide to file charges.

Becton, a liberal progressive who really really believes that minorities should be criminally invisible yet she doesn’t want to be viewed as supporting politicians who use their position to subjugate the law. What to I do (especially when there is probably indisputable body camera evidence)?!?

Oh to be a fly on the wall and watch the mental gymnastics on if and what to file. LMFAO

bdmlpratt November 11, 2021 - 5:05 AM - 5:05 AM

Why was she voted in to begin with? A past like that is an automatic red flag. Vote her out, she has no business being involved with community decisions. The everybody is out to get me narrative is tired and overplayed just like the race card.

Two Wheeler November 11, 2021 - 6:42 AM - 6:42 AM

Of course TTW can’t take any responsibility for HER actions. She is truly pathetic and classless.

Dr Jellyfinger November 11, 2021 - 7:26 AM - 7:26 AM

Arrested 22 times, spent 10 years in jail, convicted arsonist & alcoholic…and of course, now…. she’s an Antioch City Council Member!

Again, I shout out the obvious…

“Stupid people should not be allowed to vote”

Chris November 11, 2021 - 7:56 AM - 7:56 AM

Where do I begin…
All I can say is that our laws are “Racist.”
Why? You’ve been arrested 22 times and you are NOT in jail.

WC November 11, 2021 - 7:57 AM - 7:57 AM

Antioch really gets the cream of the crop.

Kentucky Derby November 11, 2021 - 9:15 AM - 9:15 AM

With her backround, how was she ever elected to city council? Was this included on the glossy flyers?

Cellophane November 11, 2021 - 9:50 AM - 9:50 AM

Perhaps if that council member had taken responsibility for her misdeeds rather than blaming others she might not feel harassed.

Right and wrong, just like good and bad, are in most peoples DNA.

Ignoring or overriding internal guidance always ends badly.

What’s more amazing is that so many people can support a person who refused to be responsible.

But then again, so many people are just like that.

These people behave poorly and expect accolades.

People of good character values will always be wary of such people for they are criminally dishonest.

DD November 11, 2021 - 10:23 AM - 10:23 AM

Back in the 60’s and 70’s Antioch was a decent town, what happened?

Dr Jellyfinger November 11, 2021 - 11:47 AM - 11:47 AM

If you search the US Census for Antioch,CA and look at the demographics from 1970 to 2020 you will find the answer.

Gititogether November 11, 2021 - 2:08 PM - 2:08 PM

Asking a question you know the answer to are ye?

Anon November 11, 2021 - 2:21 PM - 2:21 PM

Two things happened in Antioch.
1st, the Mayor in the 90’s Mary Rochange who ran on the gender/ diversity platform had no sense to curb runaway growth – All builders were Welcome!

2nd, the Cities of Oakland & Richmond were supposed to build housing projects, but instead sold the land to commercial developers. Those cities purchased Blocks (should be illegal) of homes in Antioch and relocated their riff raff to Antioch and the rest is history. Of course, anyone who would speak up and condemn these actions would be labeled ‘RACIST’.

PS: There was also a period of time where students from Richmond were being bused in to Deer Valley high school.

Sam November 11, 2021 - 8:32 PM - 8:32 PM

Never ask a question you don’t know the answer to.

Bob November 11, 2021 - 1:59 PM - 1:59 PM

It would be interesting to see if any city councilmember nation wide can top her record–

Did I Say That Out Loud November 11, 2021 - 5:33 PM - 5:33 PM

Identity Politics at it’s best, when those who vote you in have an agenda that is blind to the fact the candidate has no actual qualifications for the office, i.e., they want someone who looks like them, or has lived a life comparable to their own. It’s the new trend, quickly replacing the politics of “Promise Them Anything to get Elected.”

whome November 11, 2021 - 5:43 PM - 5:43 PM

She’s a victim of this unfair, racist system. Prime example…;)

Antioch should be embarrassed of their council member. Man, I guess NOBODY else wants that job, LOL.

Dr Jellyfinger November 11, 2021 - 7:14 PM - 7:14 PM

I wonder how she’d feel if there were gunshots fired at her residence and the Police “didn’t” show up?

PO'd November 11, 2021 - 9:29 PM - 9:29 PM

In her mind, she’s the victim, a very popular notion these days. How anyone with her record could be elected for any level of any office is really indicative
of our times. City of Antioch is going to have to show her the door or face
ridicule.
Any bets on which way this goes?

anon November 12, 2021 - 12:31 AM - 12:31 AM

Convicted of trying to burn down an apartment building?

With like innocent families inside, and little dogs and babies and crap????

Hell shouldn’t she still be in prison for that?
