A suspect has been arrested on murder charges after he allegedly stabbed his mom to death in Walnut Creek this morning, according to police.
Shortly after 5 a.m. this morning, a woman in the 2600 block of Jones Road called police saying she needed help because she had just been stabbed.
The victim, identified as 74-year-old Darlene Roth, died at the hospital a short time later.
Her son, 41-year-old Nicholas Roth, was taken into custody.
Police have not released any further information.
This is the fourth murder of the year in Walnut Creek.
They are both pretty much involved in the Walnut Creek area. Not two people you think this would happen to. They are both on Facebook. What a mess.
Sad for this family. Thank God they cannot blame the police for either doing not enough or to much to the son.
I worked with both nick and his mom. Darlene was an amazing sweet woman. And the nick we knew 15 years ago was a great guy. Such a tragedy for everyone involved. Considering the 5:00 am timeline I can only assume it maybe drug related. A lot of bad stuff going around these days… tragic
