Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a statement lauding the passage Saturday of the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act bill package, saying the bill will help create quality jobs for Californians and support the modernization of state infrastructure.

The legislation includes funding for roads, bridges, broadband internet access and other projects.

“This historic infrastructure package stands to accelerate investments in our clean transportation infrastructure, help mitigate some of the worst impacts of climate change and accelerate new projects that will create thousands of jobs,” the governor said.

According to the governor’s office, California expects to receive:

  • A minimum of $100 million to help provide broadband coverage across the state
  • $84 million over five years to protect against wildfires and $40 million to protect against cyberattacks

So does this mean that Newscum is ill quit taking the taxpayers money? Or are we still on the hook to pay for his private jets and French laundry?

Gittyup November 6, 2021 - 10:37 PM - 10:37 PM

I’m pretty sure those California Medical Association lobbyists paid for the party at the French Laundry. They pretty much “bought” Newsom for the pandemic duration, as you might have noticed. He works for them, not us.

Chuq November 8, 2021 - 7:29 AM - 7:29 AM

Are we adding up what politicians spend on personal travel because Trump’s golf trips that taxpayers footed the bill for are well documented

Old Timer November 6, 2021 - 4:09 PM - 4:09 PM

Sure like this is going to happen.A big portion of this money will be spent on other than what it is intended for.And let’s not forget about pocket lining for the Crooks. And don’t say it can’t be spent on something else it will happen.

T-rex November 6, 2021 - 4:27 PM - 4:27 PM

Great, can we have our gas tax and higher registration fees back then? No, didn’t think so you double dipping thief.

PESFG November 6, 2021 - 9:43 PM - 9:43 PM

+1. Double dipping thief, is right!
Btw, some of us are yet to receive the stimulus check promised by Newscum.

Gittyup November 7, 2021 - 5:05 AM - 5:05 AM

@PESFG “Btw, some of us are yet to receive the stimulus check promised by Newscum.”

Some simply won’t be receiving those stimulus checks. In his continued open hostility for the elderly, Newsom eliminated the $600 stimulus checks for Social Security recipients. It wouldn’t surprise me if he eliminated them for anyone who voted to recall him, as well. He’s just that kind of.corrupt and petty individual. .

Let the money laundering begin!

Randy November 7, 2021 - 7:31 AM - 7:31 AM

+1 …..and our surplus Billions goes to Newsom’s pet projects to keep him in his job… and who is paying for the $1.3T and our surplus tax $$ being spent on their whim? We are!!

Ricardoh November 6, 2021 - 4:49 PM - 4:49 PM

My advice is don’t hold your breath until you see a benefit for the infrastructure bill.

The Fearless Spectator November 6, 2021 - 5:12 PM - 5:12 PM

So appropriate for him to issue this statement on the one year anniversary of the French Laundry event.

It does seem peculiar that he ditched his speaking slot at the climate summit. This may be the very first time he’s ever missed a chance for further self-promotion.

It’s not surprising the wildfire budget is a pittance compared to the others. The wildfires are a complete surprise to him each year, and a relatively minor annoyance.

One thing we can count on: The $25B highway and bridge budget will go toward his personal interpretation of human infrastructure. Say hello to reparations, free stuff for illegals, more homeless hotels, and sneaking CRT into schools. When the money runs out, new taxes abound……….the people who voted for this guy must have been wearing chloroform soaked masks……….

Janus November 6, 2021 - 5:32 PM - 5:32 PM

Of course he is happy… more of someone else’s money to spend… and yet according to that right wing Fox News “More than 60% of voters in opinion surveys say that the country is heading in the wrong direction.”

Oh my bad, it was that left wing New York Times that said “More than 60% of voters in opinion surveys say that the country is heading in the wrong direction.”

Ouch… a few people on here are going to need a safe space for that micro aggressive survey results on Joey’s Administration.

Will all the people doing this work need to get jabbed? Just asking because my livelhood is in question as a public employee working for the state.

Wanta Bet there $$ buried in there for the Train to no where

escapehatch November 6, 2021 - 8:19 PM - 8:19 PM

Green painted streets. It is their idea to help the cyclists. But wouldn’t it be better to fix the potholes? I’m sure the bikers would agree to that.
And the costs, $50,000 to $500,000 per mile.
Fix what’s broken.

PESFG November 6, 2021 - 9:59 PM - 9:59 PM

The big bosses at BARF or better know as BART will continue to get bigger paychecks, benefits and pensions. Fares will continue to rise. BARF and any other form of public transport won’t be safe to ride until criminal activity is punished not rewarded.
The HOA lanes, or whatever they are called, aren’t going away. Tolls will continue to increase.
Btw, weren’t we supposed to have had a bullet train by now!?
We are expected to have improved water infrastructure in the next five years! That, is something that should have been getting worked on for the last 5 years because we need dams instead of having water rates raised.
Airport infrastructure development. Hope that goes toward curving illegal immigration.
And gas prices will continue to rise.

Chris November 6, 2021 - 11:27 PM - 11:27 PM

I sure hope a percentage of that money is set aside for electric planes since they are the largest emitter of carbon dioxide in any transportation capacity.

To Do List November 7, 2021 - 12:08 AM - 12:08 AM

I think one the big problems with electric planes is that at the beginning of every flight the announcer says to turn off your electric devices.

double dzzz November 6, 2021 - 11:34 PM - 11:34 PM

They already had the funds for the bullet train paid for years ago. Question,,, where is that money ? our problem is there is no accountability,,, period ! the shell game will continue.

Dawg November 7, 2021 - 12:11 AM - 12:11 AM

With all this money, the least they can do is lower vehicle registration fees, and the highway and bridge tolls.

Gittyup November 7, 2021 - 5:24 AM - 5:24 AM

“Newsom lauds passage of 1.2 trillion infrastructure and jobs act.”

Of course he does. It’s not going to cost HIM a cent. The greed of the wealthy Democrats is absolutely staggering. All those rich Democrats in government must be stuffing their pockets with $100 bills which they will eventually lift from taxpayers.

this_that November 7, 2021 - 6:05 AM - 6:05 AM

I’m glad to hear from our governor’s response to the infrastructure bill. I heard he took the booster a few days ago and haven’t heard from him. I thought he had an adverse reaction to the dose filled with saline.

JRocks November 7, 2021 - 7:40 AM - 7:40 AM

A great day for unions, government employees, politicians, and bureaucrats.

chuckie the troll November 7, 2021 - 11:29 AM - 11:29 AM

A trillion her and a trillion there and pretty soon you are talking about real inflation. Oh wait, we already have real inflation again. I can only imagine what will happen when we reach Weimar Republic levels. I better redeem that $50 U.S. Savings bond I still have in the safe!

The Fearless Spectator November 7, 2021 - 6:47 PM - 6:47 PM

Newsom has been AWOL since October 27th. So unusual for him to miss a single self-promotion opportunity. Perhaps he had a reaction to his booster shot. Or maybe the Lindsey Cobia thing has gone viral. Or, perhaps he’s out having his Adam’s Apple shaved down in preparation for an announcement of sorts. Anything that keeps him from signing more destructive executive orders is a positive.

Gittyup November 7, 2021 - 11:10 PM - 11:10 PM

My guess is he had his first ever stoner mammogram and the color hasn’t yet returned to his face … thinking maybe “paleface.”
