The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.

Today’s question:

In an effort to curb gun violence, the City of San Francisco wants to pay criminals $300 a month to not shoot each other, and they could earn incentives of up to $200 a month if they get a job and attend their parole appointments, according to a report on DailyMail.com.

QUESTION: Do you think this plan is a good idea or a bad idea?

Talk about it….

Oh my!!! Who ever said crime doesn’t pay. Simply ridiculous.

Ricardoh September 3, 2021 - 12:11 PM - 12:11 PM

How are they going to know if they didn’t shoot anyone? If the government gets any dumber maybe they won’t notice that I didn’t pay my taxes. They are wasting money like they are printing it.

WHAT?!?! September 3, 2021 - 12:12 PM - 12:12 PM

This is ABSOLUTELY the most INSANE and RIDICULOUS thing I’ve ever heard!! Honest, law-abiding people of integrity have to work for their money, but lets pay criminals! I was going to ask “is someone out there crazy and out of their minds?” but then I remembered…oh yeah, they are politicians!!

Gremlin September 3, 2021 - 12:14 PM - 12:14 PM

OMG! Can San Francisco get any more ridiculous? Wait …. don’t answer that.

Badge1104 September 3, 2021 - 12:20 PM - 12:20 PM

I hear they’re also going to pay people not to take drugs. And, I gather this is on top of their welfare, and free Obama phones, etc?
Then sign me up! Being a hard-working law abiding citizen no longer pays… well, I guess in God’s eyes it does… but not in liberal California’s view.

ClayDen September 3, 2021 - 12:22 PM - 12:22 PM

And the Looney Tunes theme song is playing in the background…….

Simonpure September 3, 2021 - 1:06 PM - 1:06 PM

I’m hearing “If I only had a brain” from Wizard of Oz.

Roz September 3, 2021 - 1:34 PM - 1:34 PM

ClayDen & Simonpure~
Too Funny!

Gittyup September 3, 2021 - 2:41 PM - 2:41 PM

“Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”

BWIZZLE September 3, 2021 - 12:22 PM - 12:22 PM

I’m done wondering what stupidness is coming next I just know it is.
Good luck everyone, be safe and watch your back.

The Professor September 3, 2021 - 12:24 PM - 12:24 PM

Pay them $1,000 to shoot each other. Problem solved.

The Fearless Spectator September 3, 2021 - 1:01 PM - 1:01 PM

And a $500 bonus if they shoot themselves afterward.

Jay Roller September 3, 2021 - 1:06 PM - 1:06 PM

Wow the best idea yet! You aren’t running for Governor are you because you have my vote!!

Clay September 3, 2021 - 1:16 PM - 1:16 PM

Excellent idea!

Ricardoh September 3, 2021 - 3:46 PM - 3:46 PM

The Professor
Beauty !! Hope you don’t mind if I use it.

PESFG September 3, 2021 - 4:48 PM - 4:48 PM

@The Professor.
You’re a smart professor and I agree with your idea.

Sam September 3, 2021 - 12:24 PM - 12:24 PM

They’re coming for law abiding citizens guns. This is just another step forward. Panting the narrative is all propagandists know how to do. Slowly we creep. The CDC has now been tasked with figuring out the illegal gun problem. We know how they roll. Throw money and take freedoms. Keep wearing your masks.

Rolaids September 3, 2021 - 1:13 PM - 1:13 PM

@Sam Is this a good time to remind everyone that, as far as “they’re coming for your guns” goes, this task will not be performed by Nancy Pelosi, Gavin Newsom, any multiracial pansexual socialist politician, or any other left wing bogeymen? Any gun confiscation will be performed by your friendly local Concord police, sheriff’s deputies, and perhaps other law enforcement agencies. You know, the people you sit next to at church and whose kids are friends with your kids. A lot of military vets. Maybe a lot of Trump voters. Police organizations are almost uniformly huge gun control advocates. In the theater of 2nd Amendment struggle, it is important to correctly identify your opponent. I doubt if the right wing Claycord peanut gallery is able or willing to confront this uncomfortable truth.

Jay Roller September 3, 2021 - 1:24 PM - 1:24 PM

From my cold dead hands!!

Doh September 3, 2021 - 5:49 PM - 5:49 PM

Were you born yesterday Sam? I ask because “they’re coming for your guns” scare tactic has been used by the NRA for over 30 years. Just fill in the name of the current Democratic president or contender and repeat the scary phrase; over & over. .

Sam September 3, 2021 - 6:06 PM - 6:06 PM

@Rolaids
It’s always a good time for that reminder.

Just remember any laws repugnant to the constitution are null and void.

Sam September 3, 2021 - 7:55 PM - 7:55 PM

@doh
Look at the Sandy Hook/Remington lawsuit. It’s about to get real. All the narratives are falling apart. Alex Jones was right again. The school wasn’t even open when the “shooting” happened. Then they demolished it before a real investigation. The level of propaganda used on the American people is mind blowing. Like me or love me, I’m saying it now: Sandy Hook was a HOAX.

H September 5, 2021 - 12:13 AM - 12:13 AM

@Rolaids police who enforce gun control are known as Oathbreakers.

Tj September 3, 2021 - 12:26 PM - 12:26 PM

So can I identify as a criminal and receive this payment

Paul September 3, 2021 - 12:30 PM - 12:30 PM

Yes it is a good idea because it cost less then the costs of keep them in jail, hospital, morgue if they shot at each others. The idea of giving away little money in exchange for peace isn’t new. Take welfare for example, if the government didn’t give barely enough welfare to people for them to eat, then there would be a political instability.

Jay Roller September 3, 2021 - 1:07 PM - 1:07 PM

Your logic is why I hate this state and will soon be moving!

earl September 3, 2021 - 1:31 PM - 1:31 PM

@paul

sorry but you are an idiot, get help

Rolaids September 3, 2021 - 4:30 PM - 4:30 PM

@ Jay Roller and earl, I also disagree with Paul’s argument, but he MADE AN ARGUMENT. He offered context, and had a specific example to support his view. When all you respond with is ad hominem attacks and angry expressions of general frustration, you’re basically admitting that he has won the debate before it has even started. I blame the American education system that so many adults seem to believe that barking insults qualifies as political discourse. It does not. Again, I strongly disagree with Paul’s position, though I suspect at this point no one is able to hear that.

TexAg93 September 3, 2021 - 5:25 PM - 5:25 PM

@Jay Roller – Already did and don’t regret it one bit!

Janus September 3, 2021 - 6:15 PM - 6:15 PM

Money for peace is called a protection racket or a less polite term is extortion.

Paul can the state pay you not to reproduce?

MoJo September 3, 2021 - 12:43 PM - 12:43 PM

The only thing surprising about this idea is that Berkeley didn’t think of it first. One can only laugh at these clowns and wait to see what pops out of their tiny little lobes next.

Dawg September 3, 2021 - 12:49 PM - 12:49 PM

The absurdity of the Left never ceases to amaze me. The part you left out is that they also want to pay drug addicts not to use drugs. Their plan is to drug test addicts and if the test comes up clean, they get paid. Well, that will never happen because a true drug addict cannot abstain from drugs, that’s why they’re addicts, they’re addicted, and no amount of money will prevent them from getting their fix.
Addicts know every trick in the book, because they wrote the book. One trick is to use someone else’s urine, take the money, and use it to buy more drugs. Another trick is to pay someone to take the test for them. There are even household products that will alter the pH in urine, and they will drink plenty of water in an attempt to dilute the urine. Sometimes the tricks work, and sometimes the tricks don’t work, but addicts will try anything to beat the system.
I know this from experience, I worked for a methadone clinic when I was an RN, and saw many addicts who came from all walks of life. Some of them are educated with advanced degrees, and lost everything after becoming addicted to drugs. Their jobs, their home, and their family. One woman was a professor with a PhD, and taught at UC Berkeley. She had to turn to prostitution to support her habit. They simply cannot stop using drugs, even for money.

Reekorizzo September 3, 2021 - 1:11 PM - 1:11 PM

Thank god my only addiction is sugar………they sell the stuff at the grocery store!!!

Roz September 3, 2021 - 1:31 PM - 1:31 PM

@ Dawg~
Maybe the urine test will not be used,….but maybe a hair test now.
Shave a patch of hair off the arm, and it seem more accurate.
My Hubby gets tested once a month for his job.

Reekorizzo September 3, 2021 - 1:09 PM - 1:09 PM

Jesus freaking Christ, u have GOT to be kidding me

Ancient Mariner September 3, 2021 - 1:13 PM - 1:13 PM

A thousand years ago this was called Danegeld – they’d pay the invaders not to attack them. The king of would raise taxes to pay off the Danes and others. Of course, all the Danes who weren’t paid off decided to attack so that they could make a deal and get paid off, too. Even Danes who had never before thought of attacking decided to get in on the act.
I wonder if criminals will immigrate to SF just to collect on this.

CONCORD September 3, 2021 - 2:13 PM - 2:13 PM

LOL!!!!!
Can the people that follow the rules get paid. We teach our
families to do right and they get rewarded with love and praise.

What do we tell our children that their world is run by Evil people and they are not our roll models anymore.

Hanne Jeppesen September 3, 2021 - 6:54 PM - 6:54 PM

Danegeld, geld means money owed, was not the best moment for the Danes, but then the Vikings had many vices.

Gittyup September 3, 2021 - 1:19 PM - 1:19 PM

Is that going to be run on the honor system? Like, if you say, “I was going to shoot him, but I decided not to …” you actually get money?

Roz September 3, 2021 - 1:21 PM - 1:21 PM

I read the statement,…then had to read it again. UGH!
Things are bad enough already,…Who thinks up these crazy ideas?

Jay Roller September 3, 2021 - 3:05 PM - 3:05 PM

The demorats of course!

DD September 3, 2021 - 1:42 PM - 1:42 PM

Just you you thought this state in general, and San Francisco in particular, could not get any more stupid, something like this pops up to prove you wrong.

The Wizard September 3, 2021 - 1:56 PM - 1:56 PM

Just pissing away that federal money…Recall Newsom

chuckie the troll September 3, 2021 - 2:08 PM - 2:08 PM

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to pay criminals to kill each other? Beats the Death Penalty that Gavin won’t let us use. It is cheaper to put a criminal in a coffin than in a prison cell for decades, and it certainly lowers the recidivism rate.

Bdpirate September 3, 2021 - 2:18 PM - 2:18 PM

Unbelievable that SF even thought about this, that city has now completely gone in the toilet. How anyone would want to live, work or even visit there is beyond me.
So how exactly do they know who hasn’t shot anyone? Biggest crock of crap thinking I’ve ever seen.
SF besides being fugged up with their “woke” thinking and now this.

Baloo September 3, 2021 - 2:21 PM - 2:21 PM

“Called the Dream Keeper Fellowship, the pilot program will kick off with 10 individuals who are deemed at high risk of committing a shooting or being shot, paying them $300 to act as ‘public safety ambassadors.”

earl September 5, 2021 - 7:57 AM - 7:57 AM

it is communism plane and simple. ideas like this will destroy America and must be resisted.

God bless America

Sandy G September 3, 2021 - 2:56 PM - 2:56 PM

Stupidest thing I’ve ever heard!
Oh wait, I better not say that……..

Whoe Jim September 3, 2021 - 3:38 PM - 3:38 PM

What’s next? Pedophiles can date kids as young as 14. Oh, sorry Scott Wiener and sf is actually already trying to approve that. This place is nuts….

Just me September 4, 2021 - 9:33 AM - 9:33 AM

It has already been signed into law by Newsom. Most of the bills that Weiner has authored or co-authored are sexual.
VOTE YES on the RECALL!!!!
The SF Mayor and DA are idiots, just like Newsom and Pelosi. Harris and Biden too!!! The SF police can’t stand them.

Tim September 3, 2021 - 3:47 PM - 3:47 PM

Can I get a tax free? check from the State for not speeding or not running red lights and stop signs or any other criminal action? Crime is increasing State wide and does pay!

STUPID LEADERSHIP. We deserve better, but got the governor voters elected. Stupid voters also.

Gavin reversed the death sentence for murderers AGAINST the will of the voters. Why vote except for local issues?

I had to put my dog down and was painless, peaceful, and fast. Don’t need a cocktail of drugs to put down a convicted murderer who deserves death. No justice for the family of the victims.

Tsa September 3, 2021 - 3:57 PM - 3:57 PM

“Gift of public funds” violation???

ConcordKate September 3, 2021 - 4:24 PM - 4:24 PM

Idiotic.

Bdpirate September 3, 2021 - 4:33 PM - 4:33 PM

How bout someone offing those 10 individuals for a bullet cost of about $5, saving us taxpayers $3000.

Cat'sMeow September 3, 2021 - 4:33 PM - 4:33 PM

Seems in solving a problem resulting from The Liberal Agenda, it might be important to know the cause. So which is it:
– Incomplete evolutionary development resulting in low IQ
OR
– Mental illness manifesting itself in sociopathic agendas.

PESFG September 3, 2021 - 4:41 PM - 4:41 PM

Let’s not forget that Newscum was the Mayor of San Francisco and he allowed safety to devolve there. Now, we all are seeing how him being in charge of the State has allowed for our safety to become jeopardized, so, expect that other cities will also be deciding to implement “policies” such as these.
California has become the rear end of our country.
San Francisco once was a fun and beautiful place to visit.
These decisions are a slap in the face for law abiding people who have had a difficult life, regardless of race and income, and have worked hard to better themselves.

HappyPappy September 3, 2021 - 4:43 PM - 4:43 PM

Will cookies & milk be served at their parole meetings? Seems like it goes along with this insane plan.

Jeff (the other one) September 3, 2021 - 4:47 PM - 4:47 PM

Paying people to stay sober. Paying people not to shoot each other. I wonder when, and how much, they will pay bums not to poop in the street. What other absurdities can they contrive in that messed up city (and what will be picked up by the state)?

deee September 3, 2021 - 5:14 PM - 5:14 PM

I thought I was reading the Onion for a second! Unbelievable

JJ the Circus Clown September 3, 2021 - 5:15 PM - 5:15 PM

Ha … Now I know what I had long suspected … the political seats in California are actually a secret comedy training academy.

Chris September 3, 2021 - 5:40 PM - 5:40 PM

Yes, because if I was a criminal and especially a gang-banger, I’d use the money to buy a ghost gun and ammo and then go after my rivals. That weapon would be the gift that keeps on giving, but I’ll make a promise to the city that I’ll be a good boy and go to college with the money wink-wink.

Doh September 3, 2021 - 5:52 PM - 5:52 PM

This is a dumb idea. Where can I sign up and do I need a parole officer?

Original G September 3, 2021 - 7:05 PM - 7:05 PM

Wait just a dang blasted minute here, all these years been holdin’ back . . .
An now criminals gonna get PAID ! ? ? ? World just ain’t fair . . .
but then this is DEM-a-fornia.
(notice to liberals, humor alert)

Then again get to watch idiots on my list screw up their lives as KARMA does it’s thing. So, guess there is balance in the world.

Cellophane September 3, 2021 - 7:27 PM - 7:27 PM

Didn’t they try that in Richmond a few years ago?

I don’t know that turned out but my guess is that it was not all that successful.

If it had been successful, SF wouldn’t be giving it a go.

The bleeding hearts are heading in the wrong direction.

Much like the communists they are.

earl September 4, 2021 - 4:35 AM - 4:35 AM

+1

stalin called people like those in SF useful idiots

PH_Dad September 3, 2021 - 7:43 PM - 7:43 PM

We could pay Filipino police officers $500 bounty and solve this long term problem in a few months. Would also cut back on the Asian hate crimes which mostly are by a certain segment of society.

Janus September 3, 2021 - 9:19 PM - 9:19 PM

Whoever said crime doesn’t pay, never lived in San Francisco.

Bad Nombre September 4, 2021 - 1:05 AM - 1:05 AM

Discrimination, plain and simple! Everyone should be paid not to kill.

weppin September 4, 2021 - 6:17 AM - 6:17 AM

Money for nothin’ – chicks for free.

Anon September 4, 2021 - 7:28 AM - 7:28 AM

What a waste of taxpayers’ money. San Francisco cannot curb their crime problem and want to pay them. SF is out of control. The mayor is useless. SF is going down the drain.

Russ Sayin September 4, 2021 - 8:24 AM - 8:24 AM

Less bang for your buck

Antlers006 September 4, 2021 - 8:35 AM - 8:35 AM

Sign me up. I won’t shoot anyone. Unless they break into my house. What the hell is wrong with the people in charge of this state. They won’t arrest anyone. Now we have to bribe them. How about just go back to if you do wrong you are punished for it for god’s sake.

Leeland September 4, 2021 - 10:17 AM - 10:17 AM

What about the non criminals who decide not to shoot someone? What do we get? Lord knows it’s awful tempting sometimes.

Justifiable languor September 4, 2021 - 10:43 AM - 10:43 AM

Haha. Where can I sign up?

Tsa September 4, 2021 - 10:52 AM - 10:52 AM

Next up, pay for not speeding or rolling through stop signs and red lights

earl September 4, 2021 - 11:16 AM - 11:16 AM

+1

and please don’t give those idiots any ideas 🙂

Gittyup September 5, 2021 - 4:11 PM - 4:11 PM

At this point, they already owe me a small fortune.

jjshawk September 6, 2021 - 11:34 PM - 11:34 PM

What?
Why?
It’s a total waste of tax dollars. Criminals are like inbred animals, incapable of (among other things) the use of “sound reasoning or “impulse control”. The “animals” only run on instinct, will just take the money and still shoot each other,… they simply can’t help it.

SF may want to rethink this crazy idea.

earl September 7, 2021 - 9:32 AM - 9:32 AM

that’s the problem, SF people don’t think. they just know that their ideas are perfect and that they are better than everyone else.
