The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.
Currently, there are no stand-alone restaurants at the Sunvalley Mall in Concord.
The mall’s southern parking lot along Sunvalley Blvd. is big, and almost always empty.
QUESTION: Should the mall open up the parking lot for construction of one, two or even three new restaurants to help occupy the vacant space?
If so, what restaurants would you like to see come to Concord? (besides Olive Garden, because we all know that’s everyone’s first choice)
There was one there years ago – a coffee shop, where B of A is located.
If memory serves, that was a Copper Skillet. I remember pennies embedded in the table tops.
Copper Penny.
Not as good as the Copper Skillet. Which was not related to The Copper Broiler in Walnut Creek. Lots of Copper….
You are correct…it was Copper Penny. We went there after watching a movie at the mall. Back in the good ol’ days.
Yes.
.
1. Tilted Kilt
.
2. Joe’s Crab Shack
.
3. The Olive Garden
.
4. Amy’s Drive Thru
.
Yes, a drive-through Amy’s would be good.
I Googled “Tilted Kilt” – it’s like a Scottish-themed Hooters!
Knock it all down. The entire plot needs a new plan.
Demolish it.
It’s time passed about 20 years ago.
…no….. but someplace in Concord, WC, or PH – an Olive Garden please
State law has changed so that in January apartments will be legal to build in the Sun Valley parking lot. This will do a lot more to add vitality to that dying mall than a chain restaurant would.
In Newsom/Soros California : Vitality=Crime. Yep, Pollyanna is dead. Sorry.
Low-income apartment right next to the mall? The thieves won’t even have to leave the comfort of their own area now!
The Sun Valley Mall needs to be turned into a housing project, not unlike Tanforan Park in San Bruno.
I would suggest Pizzeria Uno or Bob’s Big Boy, but those are probably redundant with BJ’s deep dish and Red Robin. How about Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Max’s Opera Cafe, and an unique locally-owned restaurant?
Yes! An Olive Garden
Turn the area into a really nice park. We have enough restaurants. A little frog pond and a bunch of redwood trees. Paths through the redwoods. Maybe a swing or two. Then the hotdog stand.
@RICARDOH….It won’t be so quaint once the “urban campers” take it over.
The mall needs to turn into a giant Amazon distribution center with drones and robots (no thumbs up needed. I’m sure this idea will be wildly popular !)
Still better than building apartments or letting the homeless camp out.
I like the suggestion of Olive Garden, would also like to see a Portillo’s.
Concord needs another McDonalds and another Starbucks.
Hey, 2 or 3 Starbucks would be appropriate, there!
Just hire TSA agents at all parking lot entrances, metal detectors and sniffing dogs, because nobody will go there with the current element of society…..
This is your last Water Cooler of 2022…. don’t waste it.
😂… Concord already all restaurants and fast food… Soon to give up Tree City title for Burger & Fries City.
How about a Corn Snake sanctionwary
