Another Air Quality Advisory Issued Due To Wildfire Smoke

by CLAYCORD.com

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is issuing another air quality advisory for Wednesday as smoke from wildfires further north continues to persist in the region.

The air district has issued similar advisories in the past couple of weeks and says Wednesday’s smoke impacts, caused by an expected shift in onshore winds, are going to be more widespread than last week’s, although the air quality isn’t forecasted to be bad enough to exceed federal health standards or prompt a Spare the Air alert.

The air district is advising anyone who smells smoke to stay inside with windows and doors closed and to set their air conditioning and car vent systems to recirculate air.

Gavin and the Democrats have destroyed California. It’s now a 3rd world failed state.

Now Gavin’s saying we may face statewide mandatory water restrictions. (Conveniently, not until after the recall election)

Had enough? Vote Yes on Question 1 to get him out of office.

I had enough.
I voted yes to remove Newsome.

I grew up in northern California. We have the same conditions now as we had then but without this number of fires. I’m sure the individual firefighters are working their butts off but like our military the generals of fire fighting are not up to the job. The politicians are not up to the job. We need an early warning system and the largest tanker airplanes on the market. We have neither.

I dropped my ballot in the mail this week and already received a text message that it has been received. I voted no on the recall. The last thing that California needs is a politician who is out of step with the majority and who is a science denier. The environment in California has absolutely changed and it will continue to change until bold steps are taken to curb the climate change that we are experiencing. Pretending that climate change doesn’t exist will exacerbate our environmental situation and bring more drought and more wild fires. Those are the facts and the majority of people in California recognize them as such.

Did you do the math to calculate the magnitude of Newsom’s environmental CO2 theater of gas stove bans to the massive coal fired electrical plant construction boom by China? It is a rhetorical question.

Gavin’s the one who pretends climate change doesn’t exist. He won’t clean up the forest and he won’t put in new reservoirs, so now we get a drought and firewall over the place. Talk about out of touch.

Hey Gary if we had a competent governor he would have had an air force of super scooper air craft to put out the fires in a timey manor. build more reservoirs, fix our roads, stop illegal immigration, the list goes on.
the state wasn’t to broke to take care of this. we have been taxed beyond belief over the years already. stop being .wussies peeps ! ridiculous. our fathers and their fathers would be rolling over how wimpy society has become. such a weak minded society, PITIFUL !

So you think poor schools and high crime and government handing out billions to people who do not try is a good thing. You probably think running out of water when we live near the largest ocean is also good. At one time Long Island New York was covered with two thousand feet of ice. Don’t think your electric car is going to do much.
Handicap people, old people, and the sick need our help. The rest I view as survival of the fittest.

So you’re fully supportive of a Governor who, in the middle of a historic drought, lies about fire prevention measures? Only because he spouts BS about “bold measures to curb climate change”? How very sensible of you. Something to be truly proud of.

If you don’t know what I mean by lying about fire prevention measures, 1) you need to pay more attention to what’s going on in CA and 2) here are the stories by CapRadio:
https://www.capradio.org/articles/2021/06/23/newsom-misled-the-public-about-wildfire-prevention-efforts-ahead-of-worst-fire-season-on-record/
https://www.capradio.org/articles/2021/06/29/gov-gavin-newsom-retreats-on-1-billion-wildfire-prevention-plan-ahead-of-meeting-with-president-biden/
And yes, that’s from CapRadio – that indomitable Republican stronghold (sarcasm alert).

Actually, while I said my question was rhetorical, I’ll still answer it. My back of the envelope calculations show that eliminating all CA residential gas use for cooking would be in the few thousandths of one percent of what China is producing in CO2. Since you are all sciencey and all, do you know that there are companies already working on direct air capture of CO2? An example at MIT listed on their website is “MIT engineers develop a new way to remove carbon dioxide from air,” and that technology could turn the electric car industry into a dinosaur. How much further could we be on that if the $30 billion in EDD fraud Gavin oversaw had gone to that instead. As I said, Newsom’s announcements are theater to create a bandwagon effect of voters cheering for him.

You folks still believe that if we rake the forest the fire danger disappears? Come on, you can do better than that. The rising temps, the drought, and the increased fire danger are not confined to California. The entire Western US is suffering from the historic conditions that are impacting California. Wells are drying up in California, in fact 2700 more are predicted to go dry this year and another 1000 next year. The Governor didn’t decrease California’s ground water, that’s a direct result of historic drought and record high heat. The situation is pretty dire, and you know what can make the situation even worse? Replacing the duly elected Governor with a pod cast host.

Gavin Newsom is doing a good job under extremely challenging conditions. The challenges that California face are complex and they require thoughtful, comprehensive solutions. Not one line missives that do nothing but increase the rhetoric and the divide.

And yes, petroleum powered vehicles and natural gas powered appliances are all on their way out the door, so planning for that eventuality is an expectation that I have for my government.

Gavin helped create the situation now he’s doing a good job? You sir , like Gavin, are a joke. You also have nothing to say about his water board refusing to add even one new reservoir. Oh, and tell us the science about his sweetheart deal with PG&E while you’re at it. Science my ass.

@Gary, California is now adopting Trump’s plan to thin out 33 million acres of forests ‘by raking the woodland floor’, even though officials scoffed at him a few years ago.

Trump doesn’t speak in polished, meaningless sound bites like most politicians, but he was a great president who put the American people first. The Democrats and the drive-by media, tried to destroy him. And now they are trying to cover for Biden, but they are having a tough time hiding the truth, and Biden’s actions speak louder than a biased press with a woke agenda.

You can read about Trump’s ‘forest raking successes’ in this writeup from June, 20201 in the UK’s Daily Mail: https://bit.ly/3stRegw

I don’t know why you guys bother. Gary is clearly a sheep that will believe anything his overlords say. Happy living in ignorance until all his freedoms are taken away and CA resembles Venezuela.

I just got my ballot in the mail and the proponents’ statement sums it up well. Gavin Newsom is The Big Deflector and Governor of Denial. It may not seem as a big deal to many that Gavin Newscum requested his house be blurred from Google Maps Street View but to others, it could be perceived as an indirect sign of how he rather be in his secluded and safe environment while he perfectly knows about the problems the State is facing yet doesn’t want to be bothered with them.
Recall Gavin Newsom

Gavin has squandered Billions of dollars that could have been used to build reservoirs and purchase the best fire fighting planes and equipment .Save California . Recall Newsom and vote in Larry Elder . Let’s see what a black conservative can do for the people of California .

We were not impressed when Newsom was Mayor of SF with widespread homelessness and poo on the city streets was prevalent. Not much has changed. Fast forward to his obvious failed leadership as Governor…Its time for a speedy oil change, and I’m not just talking about his hair!
RECALL NEWSOM for a better California……

“Gavin Newsom is doing a good job under extremely challenging conditions.”
Really, ? ? ?

‘Newsom Misled The Public About Wildfire Prevention Efforts Ahead Of Worst Fire Season On Record’
“An investigation from CapRadio and NPR’s California Newsroom found the governor has misrepresented his accomplishments and even disinvested in wildfire prevention. The investigation found Newsom overstated, by an astounding 690%, the number of acres treated with fuel breaks and prescribed burns in the very forestry projects he said needed to be prioritized to protect the state’s most vulnerable communities. Newsom has claimed that 35 “priority projects” carried out as a result of his executive order resulted in fire prevention work on 90,000 acres. But the state’s own data show the actual number of acres worked on for those “priority projects” is 11,399.

Overall, California’s response has faltered under Newsom. After an initial jump during his first year in office, data obtained by CapRadio and NPR’s California Newsroom show Cal Fire’s fuel reduction output dropped by half in 2020, to levels below Gov. Jerry Brown’s final year in office. At the same time, Newsom slashed roughly $150 million from Cal Fire’s wildfire prevention budget.” …

“Overall, the data show Cal Fire treated 64,000 acres in 2019,
but only 32,000 acres in 2020
and 24,000 acres through Memorial Day this year.”

” “Everybody has had enough,” the governor said, announcing he’d signed a sweeping executive order overhauling the state’s approach to wildfire prevention. Climate change was sparking fires more frequent, ferocious and far-reaching than ever before, Newsom said, and confronting them would have to become a year-round effort.
The state’s response, Newsom added, “fundamentally has to change.”
But two-and-a-half years later, as California approaches what could be the worst wildfire season on record, it does so with little evidence of the year-round attention Newsom promised.”

Beginning of April 2021 roughly 90,000 hazardous trees still needed to be removed just from area of 2018 CAMP / Paradise Fire.

“California’s 2020 wildfire season thwarted the state’s fight against climate change, spewing enough carbon dioxide into the air to equal the emissions of millions of passenger vehicles driving over the course of a year.
Those roughly 9,600 fires burned nearly 4.2 million acres, killed 31 people, and emitted an estimated 112 million metric tons of carbon dioxide, according to a California Air Resources Board report released Dec. 31. The number is akin to the greenhouse gas emissions of 24.2 million passenger cars driving in a single year”

Too funny!

People actually whining about how the State has been deficient in building Reservoirs….. as if they are supposed to automatically fill up with water from out of thin air . . . when there has hardly been any rainfall.

Lake Oroville is the 2nd largest reservoir in the State.
It’s currently at 23% of capacity.

Who knew?
