Lafayette’s Annual Art & Wine Festival Canceled Due To COVID

Citing ongoing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic and low vaccination rates in some parts of the region, Lafayette Art & Wine Festival organizers have canceled the event.

The festival, which would have celebrated its 25th year in 2021, was scheduled for Sept. 18 and 19.

According to the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, “logistical issues have made it impossible to implement effective guidelines or rules to allow for a safe and comfortable event for everyone.”

Can we be real for a second? Since when is government (including local government) in charge of my personal health or our health as a community? If I feel it is unsafe to go to an outdoor festival, then I will stay home. If I want to go to an outdoor festival, I will go. Meanwhile, the same folks who make these decisions are the same folks who prefer open borders and encourage unvetted refugees to come just as they are: sick with covid, unvaccinated without a cent in their pocket to contribute to society. Also, last time I checked, Lafayette is in Contra Costa County which has an 82% vaccination rate. At what point will that not be enough? Does everyone need to be vaccinated in order for it to work? Let’s be real. I don’t drink wine and I’m not totally into art, but I am concerned for individuals who have not had a venue to sell their goods—-Lafayette may not think these vendors are essential, but anyone who needs to work to live is essential.

Let’s be real
The art & wined festival is a huge public event that draws not only people from Lafayette and the bay area but from all over the country. It is a primary weekend for Acalanes to hold class reunions or people to come back to town to visit family. The average attendance the last few years they had it was 35,000 people a day. So the Lafayette vaccination rate has little is any relevance when it comes to this event

If you get sick, most likely you’ll recover! It’s still 99.8 recovery rate. Nope

Actually the government has been able to determine this for over 100 years. If a disaster/pandemic happens. They have the right to tell you how to live if they feel it’s the safest way. This has been a thing for a very long time

This makes zero sense lol. It’s outside. Have you seen concord’s music in the park lately? Totally packed every week

schmee- Concord gets less than 2000 at Music in the Park. Lafayette Art & Wine averages 35,000 in daily attendance. That is a big difference

Someone below said it best. Lafayette is full of Karens.

2000 people packed in a tiny park or 35000 a day in whole city down a long street. Semantics lol.

The best outdoor festival in the area — cancelled once again. Unbelievable.

Our County and State Fair are happening now, as planned.

I don’t go to this but what a crock of crap. Bunch of whiney butt kissing you know what’s.
Go ahead go cry in your Fruity Loops cause your scared of an outdoor event.

Of course it’s cancelled. Because being outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine is just way too risky. We must live completely risk free lives.

Spreading Covid. How about safety on our border?
CNN printed the headline, “US saw a two-decade high in border crossings in July,” noting that “The Biden administration is facing a ‘serious challenge’ at the US southern border, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Thursday, saying the US has encountered an ‘unprecedented’ number of migrants illegally crossing the border.”

So when the U.S Air Force loads 600 Afghanis on a C-17 transport without masks or social distancing crammed in like sardines on 20 hour flights to America where they will be later sent around the 50 states-nothing to see here so move along and wear your masks outside.

I would expect nothing less from the City of Lafayette. Karen central.

With the amount of hysteria and lack of following science I expect all events like these to be cancelled indefinitely. Cause someone may catch a cold.

What if it was in Martha’s Vineyard? Usually Lafayette is a sophisticated crowd so it should be good. Also, lolloopooza was good to go in Chicago. Joke.

GARBAGE.
Next, the National Guard will be called up for only ONE “case”…..as is happening in Australia.

Time to Wake up and Stop being fearful cowards.
Do you know how things end for Fearful Cowards??

Hello,
It’s the workers and vendors that don’t want people hacking, coughing and sneezing in their face. I don’t blame them for shutting it down.

Those workers and vendors are losing a significant portion of their income with these kinds of events being cancelled everywhere, if they haven’t already lost their business through this entire circus show. I doubt they’re worried about COVID.

.
Fun is canceled until further notice.

Secretly penciled into the wedding vows by every bride in history…

Darn, One of the few Festival(s) we enjoy.
Fingers Crossed,….next year it will happen.

It will now be just a whine festival.

The Peddlers fair was great last Saturday in Benicia!

What next? Is the Bottle Rock in Napa. Is the BR going to cancel it? NOPE the Napa county will take it down. Stevie Nick made the right choice to step.

The floggings will continue until moral improves 😂

Losers…

Its common sense to cancel the wine festival. And yes, bottlerock must be canceled as well. Public health is a priority.
