Saw the smoke from Pittsburg, knew there would be info here first.

Kicker pass closed both directions

Saw Cal Fire heading that way on Marsh Creek Road then saw Cal Fire heading that way on the Byron Highway. Not good. Hope they are able to get it under control quickly.

I hope the Pavillion will cancel their fireworks show tonight, it’s just too dangerous!!

Cancel the fireworks? Haha yea right..unless it’s fogged in or wind blowing 50 mph the show goes on..

Much less smoke coming over Into Pittsburg as of 2:15. Multiple planes in air above.

Wondering if the Pavillion will re-think that over priced parking-lot fireworks show tonight.

Agreed.

Absolutely insane

Seriously? 25$ I thought I was cheap.

Any status on Kirker Pass being open? Looks like they’ve got it knocked down pretty much.

Oh yeah. And having 4th of July fireworks at the Concord Pavilion is SUCH a good idea. LOTS of dry grassy hills + fireworks = DISASTER. No matter how professional these guys are it is crazy to do this now. I have seen 2 big fires started in the 4th of July – one was Antioch that had a barge in the Delta – they thought it was safe on the water but the Antioch pier caught on fire and one was at the Benicia waterfront that caught rail cars in Martinez on fire.

Oh; the humanity! Stay home under your covers with your mask on.

Does anybody know if the fireworks show is still going to happen or if it is canceled? With the fire pretty close…

All fireworks shows are on!
Dry grass or winds the shows will go on, I’m glad to see there are still lots of folks out there that aren’t pansies just because they are whiners about fire dangers etc..
I suspect lots of private shows are about to start as well I know our local one is..

Somebody needs to grow up.

Went right past this when it started. Car was on fire on the side of the road. Spread from there. Saw the guy on his cellphone.

The Concord pavilion firework show was pathetic that was the worst fireworks displays I’ve ever seen I may charge people 25 bucks to park and watch it.

For whatever reason(s) there were very long delays in between 3 sets of fireworks that I saw at the pavilion.. lots of people left each time. Unfortunately you may have missed the last 2? It was weird for sure.

Two small fires occurred that delayed the show due to public safety concerns

And the Concord fireworks display actually started a fire. It is on the news.

OMG the “professionals” started a fire!

Please…. on what channels/stations do you hear such timely local news?

The pavilion fires were heard on the scanner.

I was listening to my scanner last night and heard very few dispatches for illegal fireworks.

Liar, Liar pants on Fire!
I listened the scanner and it was non-stop fire calls.

Anon,
Yea you said fire calls non stop, not many for illegal fireworks being called in. Get your calls straight dude!

We walked up around 7:30 and found a nice spot across the street from the pavilion in a open area, spread a blanket and had snacks and drinks.

Two hours later we were treated to literally 8 minutes of fireworks before the first break- we packed up and left after waiting 10 minutes for the restart.

Found a spot overlooking the area and had fun watching the illicit displays-no regrets but the Coliseum display was a total fail.

Hm. Out of all the areas to burn just so happens to be where a broken down car was left? Good way to collect a total loss from an insurance company. Seems fishy to me.
