Pleasant Hill will celebrate the nation’s 245th birthday with a July 4 fireworks celebration, and police officials said that will require the closure of several streets.
The Pleasant Hill Police Department said it will close several streets in the area of Viking Drive between Norse and Ruth drives. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic will not be allowed in this area during the closure, which will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The streets should reopen by midnight Sunday.
Police officials are reminding people that the Independence Day fireworks event is not open for public viewing at College Park High School, Valley View Middle School or the south parking lots of Diablo Valley College.
What could possibly go wrong?
Nothing says freedom like shutting down roads and sidewalks to traffic and pedestrians. You never see this happen to a BLM protest.
I’m not sure what moronic logic is at play here.
“We’re going to have a fireworks show, but we aren’t going to give you a place to go to watch it.”
I’ve been going to Pleasant Hill’s fireworks show shot off at College Park off and on since 1988. Typically the best place to view it is from College Park or across the street in the south lot of DVC near the football field.
Apparently someone at Pleasant Hill has their head shoved up in a tight dark place.
.
Environmentalists are not concerned about the air pollution caused by fireworks?
.
Perfect viewing is the Sears parking lot. That’s where we always go.
Pathetic show!
Worst show I’ve ever seen…
Any update on the 2 pedestrians struck by a car last night near DVC?
Hope they’re ok!
This is a fireworks discussion…
I’ve been going to the College Park show every year since 1981 but I missed this year. My daughter went with her friends and said it was the worst one she’s seen since right after the 2008 financial crisis.
The city of PH puts limitations on where people can park and view the show for COVID retardation reasons.
Taking into account their actions will lower attendance, why put a lot of effort into the show?
Circular stupidity.
