Concord Police are investigating a possible murder on Willow Pass Rd., just east of Waterworld Parkway.
The suspect is described as a homeless white male adult with no shirt, curly hair, a beard and tan pants. He was last seen walking near the Park & Ride on Willow Pass at Hwy.242.
Expect delays in the area if you’re driving.
UPDATE: This is a confirmed homicide.
map: google maps
…. wouldn’t be the first time around there… homeless camps all around the area …they turn on each other.. not too long ago there was another homeless / homeless dispute at the freeway entrance on westbound Clayton Ave… lots of the fires started are by the homeless camps as well …. nothing will change 🙁
I’ve been volunteering to help the homeless for the last year. I’ve become very cynical. Most are abled body men who could work but they won’t. They get food and welfare free Obama phones and even free motel rooms from all different kinds of agencies.
Another misconception is mental illness. It is drug use! I say we get a lot tougher on them and not help them as much. They have no motivation now to become productive citizens. Only crazy mooches. Yes there are exceptions but this may be only 10%.
The problem is going to get worse the more we placate it
Well said, Badge1104…and you have experience to back up your statement!
What has it been, a month and a half since the last homeless murder case in Walnut Creek at the Civic Park gazebo? I bet if we throw some more money at this problem, it will go away. Get on it, Newsome Covidbucks! Lock down the shiftless substance abuser vote!
+1
Absolutely. As a doctor who used to work for the county, I can back this up 100%. They choose to be homeless to do drugs and they know they will be taken care of. Then, they get free medical, a stipend, free phones, free food, AND then they complain they need more free things. I had to leave that job because it was disgusting how much money we flush down the toilet in trying to “help” these garbage people. The BEST thing to do for them is to stop reinforcing their do-nothing lifestyle STOP providing free things and they will grow up.
I’m a nurse that works with homeless population and I’m right there with you. Used to have a completely different perspective but the situation is just sad. We try so hard to help these people but most just don’t want help or to help themselves.
Homeless problem is out of control. California is Too lenient on homelessness and treat them better than working taxpayers. Why can’t the homeless sweep the streets and do something productive. Why give free food, medical, etc to enable them? Homeless people are useless to society and dangerous.
I recently read an article about Kevin Falconer who is running for governor against Newsome in the recall election. Falconer was the mayor of San Diego and he has some interesting ideas about tackling the states homeless population. He feels that people need to be made accountable for their actions and that just giving people everything does not solve the problem. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the article to provide the url.
Hopefully he wins the election
@CJRN. This article doesn’t seem to paint Faulconer as someone who will be expecting people to be held accountable, it seems more like he will be asking from money to “fix” the issue thus making California even more unaffordable for the productive ones. Mind you, I will not vote to keep Newscome.

This is true. I have a friend who has worked with the homeless, she quit. So many do not want to work or change their lifestyle. Many in drugs. Really feel for those who are truly in need.
Well put. I work for a public agency that was tasked with clearing out a large encampment on 242 in the mid 90’s. The residents, all in their 20’s and 30’s, seemed able bodied and fit for work. They were also offered transportation to a shelter that had room for them along with counseling and employment services. Not one of them chose to take advantage it. The Law Enforcement Agency that worked with us also found several thousand dollars worth of stolen goods in the encampment so these people weren’t really the victims they claimed to be. That really changed my attitude about the homeless.
Happy 4th all!
With a single broad stroke you accuse all homeless people of being drug users. I have seen the man usually standing on Clayton and Market St begging when he walked down the street. He was gesticulating and talking to himself. He definitely has mental issues.
I( had a friend who was an intelligent man. But after a number of small stokes he was no longer able to take care of himself. Thanks to Obamacare we were able to get him into a hospice. Otherwise he would have been wandering the streets. Because of COVID-19 restrictions we could not visit him.. Joe passed away recently, alone.
“Where families come first”
Just a sleepy little retirement town. That’s why the restaurants all close at 9 and there’s no 24 hour donut shop, and no miniature golf. But we got boatloads of homeless dope addicts. This “city” is a joke
Lol. Have to change that, just like they change the names of everything else…
Not saying you’re right and not saying you’re wrong, just curious as to which cities in California with populations over 100,000 people aren’t jokes?
“where there are no gangs”

You don’t say a homicide where a lot of homeless are and you can see some of the homeless high off their butt. Great job city of concord and state of ca. Keep voting for Democratic leaders ca. This is what you vote for and continue to want a one party system.

Wonder if it’s that homeless man that works the median at the Clayton Rd. Exit off of 242. Sure sounds like him. Dark hair, beard, never has a shirt on.
Yeah that’s the first person who came to my mind when I read the description!
I think you’re right!
Sounds exactly like the guy!
(He always kind of reminded me of Charles Manson)
I was just going to comment, I saw a homeless guy who fit that description on that median at about 4pm today. I don’t recall if he was wearing a shirt.
I thought so too but I saw him out there after this happened. He was walking up and down the median around 5:45. I did see the police speaking with someone else but he didn’t match the description given of the suspect
Nope, I live right there and he is still out there. It is a different guy and I saw him crossing Market at Willow Pass right before this happened. I was at the light by the gas station.
This is exactly who came to mind! He had an episode a few days ago in front of my car…screaming then ran back to the side walk then back in front of my car. But the description is spot on.
Ditto. I was thinking of the same guy.
Throw The Book!
Put them in secured camps centered in the middle of the Mohave Desert.
If one cannot live in society, then one can live without society…
Our crumbling culture and society cannot afford this type of behavior anymore.
The general population is a weak sister.
I am becoming more and more in favor of this kind of Mad Max solution. If we can’t force them to live within the constraints of civilization, they should be forced to live outside of it. It can’t be any more costly to ship them off somewhere in the desert and feed them there than it is throwing money at them living under the bridge.
Now I get to listen to the helicopter orbit for an hour or two while I try to get to sleep for work in the morning. Thanks Californoa voters!
Amazing bleeding liberals like Karmala Harris,London Breed and Libby Shaf.Put them on Alcatraz island,no cell phone,no free food, just let them try surviving on the rock for a few months.?
Stop wasting money on bs homeless programs. Bring back the state mental hospitals, give the homeless a choice and a chance, jail by enforcing vagrant laws or a mental facility for rehabilitation, keeps everyone safer!
Sounds like the guy who stands on the center island at Market and Concord
what you mean concords increasing leftist relaxed homeless encampment policys are creating trouble? who would have ever thought
The “virtue Signal” people, that throw money at the problem then brag to all their friends how they “helped” a homeless person today, are the ones that are the real problem. Their cash goes directly to drugs.
Great job, glad you feel like you “helped”.
Do you know why they have laws against feeding wild animals? Think on this awhile.
Concords canal trails are like the Venice boardwalk now. Bum fights. We need Kimbo Slice knocking these fools out

So anyone have clue as to victim
And man on island has in years not been issue
I do private security
I’m out all night seeing the real problems
A hidden bypass under 242 from a unseen corridor leading into neighborhood
Homeless as rule are just as important as you or me
Get out on street with me
I’m self supported volunteer
Cpd is wonderful together we are seeing good things happening
Anyone who don’t get involved on street isn’t informed
Good things only happen if we are a community
I used to have to ‘deal’ with these camps. The ‘homeless’ we encountered DID NOT want to follow the rules of a shelter or program. They wanted to keep their dogs, use their drugs, and act as they please. There was a group of women under the Imhoff bridge who would ‘entertain’ men (mostly truck drivers).
There is no political will to solve this crisis. If a camp is ‘removed’, the workers doing the job are nothing more than Merry Maids, cleaning up after these folks. And then they return and it starts all over again.
it was funny to the sign get put up saying no dumping, etc on the northbound 680 on ramp then stay there for 6 months or maybe a year while the homeless site continued to grow. then one day the sign, the homeless and the bushes were all gone. it was like the cities idea was to set a legal precedent with the sign. thank God #RecallGavinNewsom has stole another few $B to fix this problem, and yes pigs do fly now. LOL
I’m your huckleberry.

I wonder what would happen if Republicans ever got their hands on this state. Everything would change overnight.
I heard an assault hammer was used..fully expect Newscum to mandate all hammers be removed from all stores.
@bdpirate. shhh… don’t give them any ideas. I keep a framing “assault hammer” next to the bed for any unscheduled nocturnal cage matches with cameo guest appearances. I asked, out of all the tools, weapons, and clubs, which implement am I ACTUALLY competent at wielding, with control, speed, power, and accuracy? Gotta be the “assault hammer”.
R.I.P. to the victim. It was a scarring scene for my passenger as we drove past. Seems like it had just happened and the victim’s body was still uncovered. Thoughts and prayers go out to your soul.
I agree, R.I.P. Also, in the mean time there was a raging Condo fire on Mohr Lane, 7 fire engines responded, NO traffic control, NOT one Police Officer in site the whole time.
So Did EVERY City of Concord Police Officer have nothing else to do that they neglected other emergencies? I’m sure there could have been at least one or two officers available to help our Fire service personnel
you should watch some real news channels, crime is up due to the lefts defund the police movement, so cops are busy dealing with those low lives at least until the leftie judges release them early because jail isn’t any fun to be in.
Saw this guy get arrested last night in front of a apartment complex near Diablo Valley College.
Hey @Bub, Cpd is down 35 cops. Perhaps you can volunteer your time to run some radio calls?
OK, will they let me? Seriously
Sure they will!
Let’s all play policeman…. Anybody need a gun?
Most, not ALL homeless are irresponsible drunks and druggies which helps to increase mental health issues. Many receive SSI, food from religious and private donors, as well as clothing donations. Look at their encampments: Trash everywhere and used needles. Arrest those that break the laws on the books and you’ll cut down in the homeless.
DSM-V defines substance abuse as a mental disorder. Just because someone is not talking to themselves does not mean they are not suffering from a mental disorder or a physical disorder for that matter that may be impairing their ability to get a job. Sometimes people lack the most basic job skills, like showing up on time, or basic interview skills to get the job, or basic social skills to keep a job. Furthermore, homelessness is not evidence of joblessness. Someone’s inability or unwillingness to conform to certain rules does not mean that that person prefers to live on the street to living in a housed situation. People have many issues, problems and pain that others cannot see.
Everyone, please read Hard truths about Deinstitutionalization, then and now
BY GUEST COMMENTARY MARCH 10, 2019UPDATED JANUARY 16, 2021
IN SUMMARY
Ronald Reagan and Jerry Brown, two of the most consequential governors ever in California, led the state during two of the most well intended but poorly executed movements in this state’s history. The first was the de-institutionalization of the mentally ill. The second resulted in fewer prison inmates, and significant increases in homelessness and untreated mental illness.

This is no “liberal” in the negative sense of the word. This individual protects Police and prosecuted the Jaycee Lee Dugard case.
With the Recall of Newsome coming up, at least read.
Badge 1104 and Nurses and Doctors that have posted here. I say this. What you have seen is true. I was there, every visit, every session, every single session with my family member, except I take one exception to what you are saying. I never gave up on the mental health side of it, I gave up when I knew drugs won. I remember where I was driving, when I said it to myself years ago, the moment the place on the road and the day and year because you never forget when you realize you have lost a family member to drugs. But, as my other wise family member says, they would have never turned to drugs if they had not had the mental illness. That was our case. I knew that. Is what it is. Lastly, my husband as an ex cop, said “he’ll either die or go to jail”. I support Newsome recall 100%
Vern Pierson should be California’s next Governor.
Drugs and alcohol abuse do hijack the brain. We need mental health to be just as much a priority as other ailments.
