Spare The Air Alert Issued For Thursday

With triple-digit temperatures forecast through much of the region, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued a Spare the Air alert for Thursday because of excessive levels of smog expected.

The air district issues a Spare the Air day when weather conditions, like Thursday’s forecast of light winds and unusually hot temperatures, will combine with vehicle exhaust to make an excessive amount of smog. Thursday’s will be the second Spare the Air alert of the season.

On Spare the Air days, drivers are encouraged to find alternatives to driving alone to work or other destinations to limit the number of vehicles on the road. Young children, seniors and people with respiratory and heart conditions should also avoid prolonged exposure to smog, and outdoor exercise should only take place in the early morning when concentrations are lower, air district officials said.

can we have a “spare the blackouts”?

Speaking of air quality what has our Governor done to ready our state for the forest fires that are sure to come & smoke all of us like brisket again this year?
What steps have been taken to reduce the risk of fires?
Has anything new been done?
Was there any increase in clearing dead trees over the winter?
Any additional equipment ?
Any extra fire fighting personnel ready to go?
I heard something about at $75 Billion dollar surplus….
Did he spend any of it on fire prevention? or does he expect us to just shut up & choke to death?

i think he expects us to die of heat frustration, black outs, dehydration, new limits coming 25gl/person/day, starvation, selling food to other countries, no transportation, gas soon to be $10/gl

CA does have consistency when it comes to dead tree removal, law suits, red tape and unnecessary levels of bureaucracy.

CA will be on fire again this summer, that’s guaranteed.
Beginning of April 2021 roughly 90,000 hazardous trees still needed to be removed just from area of 2018 CAMP / Paradise Fire.

An how’d we do last year, after years of being burdened with greenest unelected bureaucrats and politicians in the nation ? ? ?

“California’s 2020 wildfire season thwarted the state’s fight against climate change, spewing enough carbon dioxide into the air to equal the emissions of millions of passenger vehicles driving over the course of a year.

Those roughly 9,600 fires burned nearly 4.2 million acres, killed 31 people, and emitted an estimated 112 million metric tons of carbon dioxide, according to a California Air Resources Board report released Dec. 31. The number is akin to the greenhouse gas emissions of 24.2 million passenger cars driving in a single year”

Who really changes much of what they do on a STA day?

No leaf blowing please1 Use your heads and don’t let landscapers pollute our neighborhoods when the air is so poor and there are fire warnings.

I’m okay as long as it doesn’t effect my reservations at the French Laundry
