California is giving 76,000 inmates, including violent and repeat felons, the opportunity to leave prison earlier as the state aims to further trim the population of what once was the nation’s largest state correctional system, according to a report from KCRA in Sacramento.
More than 63,000 inmates convicted of violent crimes will be eligible for good behavior credits that shorten their sentences by one-third instead of the one-fifth that had been in place since 2017. That includes nearly 20,000 inmates who are serving life sentences with the possibility of parole, KCRA reported.

Guns and ammo are mostly unobtainium at this point. Between the COVID lockdowns and the election of a known gun-grabber, supplies in both guns and ammo are short. 9mm is going for up to $0.75/round. I have seen as high as $1.00/round. This is up from $0.15/round a couple of years ago.
So, if you’re not stocked up now you will pay a premium IF you can find anything.
The 2nd best option at this point is to order online and have the ammo shipped to a gun store where you can pick it up.
The best option is too obtain the required federal and state licenses and have ammo shipped directly to your home. This is still legal in California if you have the two licenses.
The Federal license is called a Type-03 FFL (Curio & Relic FFL), and is easy to get. The state license is called a CoE (Certificate of Eligibility), which is straightforward to get as well. Once you have them both, you mail copies to your preferred ammo dealer and you can have the ammo shipped to your home.
And the Curio & Relic FFL has the added benefit of allowing you to order old long guns on the web and have them shipped directly to your home as well. Mausers, Mosins and things like that. If you can find them. No handguns, however. This *is* California.

Good behavior used to be able to reduce your sentence by 20% and will now reduce it by 33%.
Someone serving a ten year sentence can get out in 6.6 years instead of 8. Someone serving a 20 year sentence can get out in 13.3 years instead of 16.
California has inspection stations on our borders with other states to prevent the importation of invasive plants, insects and diseases. When will bordering states do the same, with them checking to see if people were released from prison without just cause?
More than one person has predicted that California will eventually be populated by the wealthy, and a servant underclass. No middle class to speak of. The ‘reforms’ to the ‘justice system’ we are seeing could hasten that process.
When it comes to dealing with criminals, we could learn a lot from North Korea and Saudi Arabia.
