Contra Costa Residents Ages 16+ Can Now Book Vaccine Appointments At The Oakland Coliseum

Contra Costa County residents ages 16 years and older can now book appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the Oakland Coliseum through myturn.ca.gov or by calling 833-422-4255.

Contra Costa Health Services worked with the state to update its MyTurn website so it reflects Contra Costa’s vaccine eligibility criteria.

Previously, Contra Costa residents had to be 50 and older to schedule appointments at the Coliseum vaccination site.

WHY GO ALL THE WAY THERE????? You can get your shot as close as DVC (some even closer at local pharmacy). I helped a 17 year old sign up on Thursday and he got his approval on Friday (yesterday) and was able to make a appt. at DVC as early as Wednesday April 14 which he selected. They had available time slots ALL DAY. It was a very simple process.

I agree, Matt. Kids should not be driving all the way to Oakland for this. I hope that all of the county kids have access to closer sites as we do in the Claycord area.

I thought the same when I first read it, but sometimes you have to think outside of the box. There’s nothing wrong with opening up availability. Maybe he/she works in Oakland. And it’s not just 16 plus that are being vaccinated now. There are older people who let others go first, or they were in no hurry. Or leading a very busy life, despite the pandemic. There is nothing wrong with driving to Oakland at 16 (or older) Not everyone lives a sheltered life. Have you ever been to a ballgame at the Coliseum?

Kentucky Derby, The story to which I replied was run in Claycord. Obviously there are kids who live closer to Oakland for whom this is an excellent option. I do not lead a sheltered life. Pre-pandemic I traveled the world, attended many plays per week all over the Bay Area, plus the opera, ballet, Commonwealth Club, and I visited the museums. If the kids live in Claycord area, they will be accommodated with vaccines closer to home.

You can keep your zero-liability gene therapy, thanks.

Looks like they have too much supply with no demand. Wouldn’t want that poison in my body.

Thankfully there are enough responsible adults willing to get vaccinated to reach herd immunity so that sissies like you don’t have to worry. You’re welcome.

Seems there are a number of people anxious to become a GMO human. Maybe they think it give them special powers.

You can book an appointment to get the vaccine easier than you can book a criminal!

Yoyohop April 10, 2021 - 4:02 PM - 4:02 PM

I’ll wait for the vaccine to be available through the mail. If we can securely vote by mail, surely they can trust us to take a shot as well. Why would anyone lie about it?

I’m not interested in participating in a medical study.

ZZ April 10, 2021 - 7:31 PM - 7:31 PM

Let’s wait and see what this experimental vaccine does to the human body in 6-12 months. How long will this vaccine keep the big bad virus away – 4 months, 8 months, not at all, forever? The results will be revealed moving forward. Isn’t this exciting?

Joe Mama April 11, 2021 - 7:02 AM - 7:02 AM

No thank you. I prefer the holistic approach to fighting viruses. I’m a healthy body weight, eat well, walk a lot, weight lift, hydrate well, sleep ok and try to keep stress to a minimum. It’s only an emergency authorization for the vaccines. It takes about 2 years for full authorization to know longer term effects on people.

Justifiable languor April 11, 2021 - 9:53 AM - 9:53 AM

Same here Joe Mama. We avoid chemicals. Maybe not 100%, but as a rule. We have never vaccinated. Because of this alone, I don’t want to go near this DNA corrupting injection. I find it hard to believe the vegetarians, vegans and foodies will go for it.

Healthy people are dying from these injections. And children?? They recover quickly if they even get it. People well beyond 70 have 97% survival rate. These politicians sure are invested in these vaccinations.
Invested … I bet their children won’t get the GMO version.

I think taking a ‘wait and see’ strategy is fine. It is a new type of vaccine and we will know more about it over time. But all the “poison” and “gene therapy” stuff is ridiculous.

The point about long term side effects goes both ways. In theory nobody knows the long term side effects of Covid either.

I hydrate well too.
