No, I don’t think so. If they are not doing a good job they can be voted out. When someone has to leave before of term limits, they just run for another government position or get appointed to another position within the government.
The problem with term limits is that although it might get rid of someone that is not good job, you also run the risk of getting rid of someone that is doing a good job for their state or district. It seems that experience is also a plus in building connections and learning how things work.
Yes. The corruption of being there and figuring out how to work around the rules is to much. You would have to be a complete idiot to think they made there millions at work. Also look at Feinstein she should have been gone along time ago. But she stays there taking up our time and money just for the Democrat party. Even Boxer said she should go.

This one makes me a laugh a little. I’m guessing that very few people think that term limits for congress would be a bad idea. I’m also guessing that many of those people that do think term limits would be a bad idea are the members of congress themselves. So that pretty much puts this question to bed.

Term limits for both Congress and the Senate. The problem is that it would require a vote from both house’s and they would NEVER vote themselves out of a job.
Term limits for elected officials makes sense only to people too lazy to vote. If you like ’em, keep reelecting ‘rm. If you don’t like ’em, vote ’em out. And if you don’t vote, don’t complain.

Good idea; but think about how well that’s working here in California. Those who aren’t ‘too lazy’ to vote keep electing politicians who are destroying California. Crime is out of control while democrat politicians keep releasing career criminals from prisons. Taxes keep increasing and bleeding middle class hard working citizens. Infrastructure increasingly crumbles and deteriorates while California politicians struggle over issues like hair discrimination, bathroom identification discrimination, and how to give tax money to illegal aliens. Big corporations leaving and relocating to other states. Schools performing at the countries absolute bottom. And more, and more.

I do believe there should be term limits, not just for Congress, but the judiciary as well. Should apply to the bureaucracy as well, though they would figure some way around that to stay in the powerful positions they have. The problem with no limits, as I see it, are the elected are no longer representing their district or state, but rather in a fashion to retain their power. As has been said many times before, there is a lot of money to be made while serving the people, and money, they do make. Many of these have politicians have little to no experience outside of government, such as the current puppet some call the Commander in Chief, who has spent 62% of his 71 years as a federal level politician. Feinstein was in state politics from ’69 until ’92, and then a Senator since then (60% of her 88 years). You can go down the line of how many bulls in the House and Senate that this has been their career (and they continue to enrich themselves, why do you think there are such large tax payer funded spending bills?) .

Nancy Pelosi is a perfect example of why Congress should have term limits. She’s too old, and it’s obvious, at least to me, that her mind isn’t as sharp as it once was, and she’s losing the ability to think rationally.
There is too much corruption going on in Congress, and term limits will help to eliminate some questionable dealings between Congress and special interest groups.
On the flip side, term limits cannot guarantee the voters will replace a bad legislator with a good one, voters all too often replace the bad ones with another bad one.

Is a new green fascIst dictatorship going to be better?
Is a devolution of Federal powers to the states going to work?
What we need to have urgently is a new central bank or state banks based on sound money and not debt pyramids where a small group of people can print money out of thin air for themselves in order to build empires and corrupt society with their psychopathic visions of reimagined society

Yes, term limits of some kind. Definitely an age at which they retire. Biden, Pelosi, Feinstein, and many others are too old to be doing anything productive for their constituents.
Some people are very bright going into old age. Good for them. The more common scenario is that the body gives out, as well as the mind, in deceptively small increments that the owner may not even be noticing, but which ultimately begins to show up in their stamina and clarity of thought.
This is nothing to dread. Instead, it is a time to undertake all those things one has been putting off because of life’s demands … before it is too late. It is time for to relinquish power and influence and allow younger, perhaps even brighter individuals to assume the reigns. Perhaps they could continue to serve in some limited mentorship roles giving guidance to the newly elected to help them traverse what must be a very confusing terrain … if the work of deSaulnier, Weiner, and Glazer are any indication.

Maybe whats good for the goose is also good for the gander? The President is subject to term limits of 2 terms or 10 years. I think that was put in place after FDR won a 3rd or 4th term. No reason why something similar might be put in place for members of Congress just maybe longer terms. Not going to happen so no one in Congress will every have to worry about it.
