Best: 1961 Pontiac Bonneville 2 door hardtop.
Runners up: Anything built in 1957.

Supercars, Ferrari, etc don’t count.

No best list is complete without the Jaguar XKE. My other vote would be the Alfa Romeo GTV.

Best: McLaren F1 LM

Worst: Pontiac Aztek

I hated the Ford Pinto…loved Mustangs (especially convertible)!

Worst: Chrysler PT Cruiser (bad attempt at a retro look)

Best: Ferrari Testarossa (I was an 80’s kid, designed extremity for the win)

I was never into cars that much, not a big thing growing up in rural Denmark in the fifties. When I first came to the states I lived in Westport Ct, my au pair family let me drive one of their cars, even on my nights off, felt like freedom to me. Moving to New York City a car was more of a liability due to lack of parking and public transportation was adequate.

My favorite cars is BMW 528e, I drove it for about 11 years, my ex husband and I bought it from the factory in Munich, and drove it around Europe for a few weeks before shipping it to the states. When I got divorced a few years later the BMW was part of my settlement, I loved that car the way it looked, the way it drove. Back in 1968 to 1970 I had a boyfriend who owned a Corvette, I think a 1964 or 1963 not sure, but loved driving in it with the top down. Somebody mentioned a Bonneville and I agree, again knew someone who had one in the late sixties. Mercedes is a good looking car, although some from years ago are way too big. As for ugly cars I agree the Gremlin and I don’t like the looks of a car that is too big and boxy.

Worst: Pontiac Aztek

And it is not close.

Fact

Worst 1937/38 De Sota and Chrysler

Best 1956 Chevy Convertible (Red & White)

Too many to list, but one of the best looking cars in my opinion is the 1969 Mustang Boss 302, Boss 429, or the Mach I. The ugliest car is any Shelby Mustang. Shelby took an already beautiful design and added pure ugliness to it.
For pick up trucks, any four door truck or truck with a back seat is ugly. Actually pick ups started to get ugly when they added plastic parts to the interior.

What, no Yugo.

Best… ’56 Jaguar XKSS

The Car Guys once quipped that the only redeeming feature on the Yugo was that they included a rear window defroster – to keep your hands warm while you’re pushing it!

BEST:
1956 Thunderbird
Porshe 912
Lincoln Town Car sedan (mmmm 1965 ?) ..
anything Ferrari

WORST:
anything Volkswagen
the thing with the pointy snout (can’t even remember its name)
Cadillac “Seville” (if that was the one with the fins?)

My 1975 VW Bus was manufactured with a Porsche 914 engine🤣 When my first husband who at the time was a VW/Porsche mechanic opened up the back, I can remember him saying “HEY, will ya look at this!!”

Best: Jaguar XKE

Worst: Tesla Cybertruck

Yup, I concur with the ‘E’-Type.

Best is my 1967 Pontiac GTO

Worst: 1975 AMC Pacer

Best: 1957 Chevy Bel Air (love that chrome front)

Best – 1928 Lincoln Phaeton
1932 Duesenberg
1965 GTO

Worse – The Nash

Best:
1949-1953 Hudson 4-door Wasp or Hornet or Commodore (not the 2-door);
1971 Ford Mustang Fastback;
Jaguar 420G;
1972-73 Buick Riviera.

@ AM ~ I have to disagree… the Ford 1969 fastback was much nicer (Mach 1 also).

I also like the 1970 AMC AMX (I used to have one) Fast car !

Dr. J:
Ever try to sit in the back seat of a Mach1?
I don’t recommend it for an adult.

There is only one possible answer for the best: Ferrari 250 GTO. It also happens to be the most expensive car ever, as one sold recently for $70 million (to the founder of WeatherTech). The 1964-1968 Ferrari 275 GTB is a close second. Third: Lamborghini Miura.

One of the most beautiful American cars ever built: 1967 Barracuda fastback.

Most beautiful race car: 1967 All American Racers Formula 1 Eagle, as raced by Dan Gurney.

Worst: Pontiac Aztec.

One of the best, the Mustang from the 1960s of course. The worst, look outside. Everything on the road now looks like a big pillow. No personality, no lines, nothing to provide an emotional response. Big pillows. All the same. Put on someone’s reading glasses to fuzz up your vision slightly and try to tell the difference between a Honda Civic and a top of the line BMW. Same. Big pillows. How uninteresting.

That’s the truth.

I have owned a BMW a 1982 528 e and 2 Honda Civics a 1993 and a 2002 I think don’t remember, there is a big difference in power and performance. I now have a Toyota Camry much preferable to the Honda. I had a friend that had a 1968 Mustang and he would often let me drive it, nice car I loved zipping around in it.

Don’t know about the best car but the worst are any that look like rolling toasters.

Best: 3rd Generation Mazda RX-7

Best: Original Batmobile
Worst: Volkswagen Thing

Multiple votes for the 57 Chevy Bel Air. I’ll up the ante with the 57 Chevy Nomad.

I’ll go with the Nomad, too.

The Nomad was my favorite as a kid. I still have a bright green Hot Wheels Nomad. Two door long roof for the win.

Best: Aston Martin DB5
Worst: PT Cruiser

Pontiac Aztec and Jaguar XK-E respectively.

Worst = Ford Pinto because they knew rear end collisions could cause explosions and they sold it anyway. The bean counters underestimated how much it would cost the company.

Most GM cars for their weak motor mounts. One Chevy got me into an accident.

Worst: Tied between Pontiac Aztec and Toyota Prius.

Best: I’ll give 2 for this also, Jaguar XKE Convertible and Ferrari F40

Darn, someone already mentioned the Batmobile!
Best: Rolls Royce, Jaguar
Worst: Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang car & Beverly Hillbillies truck 😝

Worse: the redesigned Civics
Worser: Priush
Worst: 4 door trucks…with automatics

Best: 1967 330 GTS
Bester: 1963 Split Window
Bestest: 1967 Muira / Speed Racer Mark V

Worst:
Pontiac Aztek
Toyota Prius
Dodge Avenger (2008 -14)

Best:
Dodge Charger (1968 – 70), (1971 – 74)
Chevy Corvette Z06 (2001 – 04)
Tesla Model-S
GM Firebird / Camaro (1993 – 97)
Dodge Viper GTS Coupe
Audi R8

One of the worse was a Maxda GLC, around the 79-80 yrs. Great mileage when it would run though.

Best: 68 CHEVY CAMERO with the 327
70 SS CHEVLE with the 45

Worse: AMC PACER
PRIUS

Another worst: Edsel
Two greats: MBZ 280C late 60’s-early 70’s
1963 Lincoln Continental with suicide doors. From JFK to Animal House

One more best: Chrysler 300C. They bucked the big fins trend. Smooth and powerful.

I still think the first year of the Chrysler 300 (the baby Bentley) is one of the prettiest cars on the road
The worst? A particular Chevy Vega. Hated that car

Best – Ford Pantera
Worst – AMC Gremlins

Best – 66 Pontiac GTO
Worst – AMC Pacer aka Moon Car

Ok, what do you guys think about the Jeep Gladiator???? At first I thought it was ugly but it’s kind of grown on me. Also, Ford is bringing back the Bronco. It kinda looks like the Toyota FJ Cruiser… which was also discontinued

Ugliest: Chevy Avalanche (2002). It’s a runner up to the Aztek. What’s up with all of that unfinished Plastic on the body???? Fugly.

The Prius 2010-15 is no worse than a Civic or Corolla.
The 2016 Prius is a cross between the Ford Probe concept car and the Pontiac Aztek.

Best: Jaguar sedan
Worst: Pacer

Isn’t it funny how automobiles trigger such strong responses to our memories? One of my friends from high school had a beautiful 1969 blue Monte Carlo two-door, lifted in the back. My goodness that car was so sexy. On the rare occasions when I see a similar MC, all dressed up, it transports me back to my High School parking lot, where John would always back his car in the corner spot in the back of the lot. It was gleeming, fast, beautiful leather interior and always immaculate. She was his baby for sure. Sadly, he passed a few years after we graduated. When I see a similar car these days, I think if him and those Glory Days. RIP friend.
