I find this a complete lie.
You say this is all bogus yet people can’t even do the littlest things to stop this this has been going on almost a year now and still people feel above and beyond everything else to help stop this. For people like me who actually have a heart condition this can be very deadly to me so you saying that fear is not a thing for this sorry but you’re completely mistaken. I am younger than 40 years old and I don’t want to be that sick or possibly die before I hit 40. It’s people like you that are causing this outbreak who don’t care that won’t listen to the news or the scientist. Yes the government should step in and help people because this is trumps fault for not taking action sooner
Aunt ,you are right . Me , you are obviously a simple thinking liberal . And no amount of facts or logic will change your mind . Just keep watching CNN , MSNBC and blame everything on Trump . Keep living in fear and wait for the government to save you .
Is there any concern about comprising childrens health by confining. They should be out in the sunshine playing with other children. Exposure to germs and other pathogens will keep their immune systems active.
This quarantine will have consequences.
Compromising. Thanks autofil.
Yup, also compromising their long-term mental and emotional health (which have physical impacts) by isolating them and ruining their education.
Arizona is pretty much open now and yet we are having a far worse surge now, especially in SoCal – it’s almost like these control measures don’t matter as much as politicians would like to think… Closing all these businesses probably has a relatively mild effect on the virus’ spread and produces a bunch of longer-term consequences just so politicians can say “Look, I’m doing something!”
The lie is the lock downs they dont help they just make matters worse There are now more suicides and over doses then covid deaths AGAIN help those that are at high risk People need to work and make a living This virus is 99% curable We see the truth and the lies do not come from the common people
@ me … then by all means you should protect yourself … but the rest of the world that is healthy should be able to go to work, church, school as they see fit.
@Puffandstuff
You do understand that more then 50% of the world has a underlining health condition right? With you saying that the rest of the world that is HEALTHY should go do all this. No, That’s not how it works. It’s not because you will be ok. It’s to save older healthy people and people with health conditions. You’re thinking how you will be ok. But how do you know you won’t pass it on to a relative and they die from it? Or a friend that gives it to there grandma or grandpa or even there parents? I am not striking fear in anything. But it’s more common sense. I think a lockdown should happen but, I think the government should pay the pay every month to live until this gets under control. If they did that the first number of months. It would be all over. But like I said. It’s because how people like you think is what is causing it to get worse.
Because it’s everybody else’s job to worry about and protect you right? I don’t want you to die before 40 either, but you’re welcome to stay home while we live our lives.
According to the California Secretary of State, as of February 10, 2019, Walnut Creek has 46,149 registered voters. Of those, 21,391 (46.4%) are registered Democrats, 10,708 (23.2%) are registered Republicans, and 12,147 (26.3%) have declined to state a political party.
State: California
County: Contra Costa
Walnut Creek, California – Wikipedia
Until I saw this I thought Walnut Creek was a Republican city. The large apartment and condo projects must be bringing in Democratic and Independent voters.
Only in the funhouse-mirror world of the Bay Area does Walnut Creek seem like a Republican city – by comparison to Berkeley, yeah – there are *some* Republicans. That makes it stand out by comparison, but it is in no way, shape or form a conservative stronghold.
@strad
You do understand this is from almost 2 years ago right? People do move out of cities, counties and states. So things do change.
@strad – Over the last 50 years the Republicans and Democrats have swapped their positions on nearly everything. Walnut Creek’s demographics run a bit on the older side. Many of the registered Republicans likely have Democratic party values. That’s also why so many people are now registered as decline to state or independent.
When Gerald Ford was running for re-election he flew into San Jose for a campaign event and then drove to Walnut Creek for three events before driving back to San Jose for another event.
Joe Biden got 72.1% of Walnut Creek’s vote vs. 24.3% for Trump. Unfortunately, cocovote.us does not have the results on line for elections in the 1970s and so I don’t know how well Ford did.
Actually, the only lie is the mainstream media narrative that the sky is falling and everyone is going to die of covid. I had the good fortune to be able to escape California pre-Covid after living there for 50 years to the free state of Texas. What a difference good governance makes. My kids are in school and have been since August. Restaurants are open at 75 – 100% indoor capacity depending on area. People are living their lives as normal, and covid is just another seasonal ailment, not the end of human civilization as we know it. We practice social distancing and where masks when SD is not possible. Most importantly we are protecting our at risk populations from infection and aggressively treating new cases. The vaccination is now available to anyone who wants it over the age of 65 rather than 75 like in California. In essence the main difference is that if you are at risk it is YOUR OWN responsibility to make sure you stay safe. Every one else is free to go about their business. My son in High School thanked us for moving the family to Texas, he said he wishes we would have done it sooner and never wants to go back to California. I am starting to wish I would have seen the writing on the wall sooner also, but am glad we are here now.
@Aunt Barbara- you are correct in that this is straight up fear mongering.
However, we have much bigger problems that the naysayers will never recognize. For the last year, we’ve been under attack. Our government has failed us at all levels. We know there’s a 99% survival rate yet we treat this virus like it’s the plague. That is destroying our economy We also know without a doubt that the election was not fair and honest but that it was substantialy manipulated.
Our government at all levels has failed us. State legislatures, Congress, the Attorney General, the Supreme Court have all failed to ensure that we have a fair election. They are all corrupt.
In my view, Congress will again fail us on January 6. The question will arise whether or not Trump is strong enough to a uphold his commitment to the Constitution and to us.
The naysayers who propagate the fear mongering may never come to grips with reality even as we approach Civil War or even after. They are also most likely to deny the fact that communism has gained real ground domestically here in United States.
Aunt Barbara, we have much bigger problems. I wish it were not true. I hope that I am wrong, but millions of Americans have a greed with me. We all went out and bought guns because they know what’s coming.
Mayor, it’s time to balance the messaging with the truth about Covid. Report the cases but remember to always report the consequence. 99% survival rate. 9,210 people have died nationwide of Covid alone. Let’s tell the whole truth.
Once again, thank you for allowing free speech. Without it we’re done.
The US is number 1 in deaths from COVID-19. We are also number 1 in deaths by population, i.e. 1 in 1,000. COVID-19 is not a hoax nor are the death counts. The deniers keep making it worse.

Yes this virus is real but I can’t understand how destroying the economy and shutting down businesses (many times the nail in the coffin for them) is helping. We need to protect the vulnerable while the rest of us keep the economy going for everyone.
We are also doing more harm than good by staying home all of the time. Our bodies will not be able to fight off much of anything once things open back up. Our immune systems need to be challenged to work. Again not referring to the vulnerable in that statement, but the low-risk category.
Despite the additional restrictions we are seeing all-time record level infection rates in CA in recent days so that makes you wonder if the benefits of these restrictions outweigh the risks.
@Patriot If this is all fear mongering, why did you buy firearms?
If you know the truth and this is all a hoax, what are you scared of?
Galvin i heard us going to keep things closed down indefinitely

Unfortunately you are someone who either needs to live in fear b/c you choose to. Death is around every corner for EVERYONE. There is no guarantee of life continuing past today or the next second. This virus has a 99++% of survival for MOST people. We are not going to stop living because you and others are afraid. Take care of yourself and stay home but stop moaning about the rest of us who do take care of ourselves and/or are healthy. That is just life. I don’t mean to sound crass. I am a mother and I have children. I certainly hope we all live for a long time, but realize that life is precious and there are no guarantees. If you are going to enjoy your time in this meatsuit, better realize that pretty quick.

Arizona’s 89 new cases per capita isn’t that much different than California’s 96 cases per capita.
Arizona’s .116% death rate per capita is worse than our .061% rate per capita.
I wouldn’t say AZ is doing great.
I stand corrected, I shouldn’t have written “far worse surge.” More like, “just as bad and a little worse”, in spite of our more stringent restrictions. The point stands, though: what are we really getting by killing all these livelihoods, impeding people’s civil liberties, stunting children’s development and education, and making more and more people leave the state – when we don’t even get a better Covid outcome, judging by current trends?
Up until this winter surge you could argue that all the costs were at least producing some benefit relative to looser states. But now… not clear at all. Looks like we embraced a pointlessly restrictive approach and now won’t get the message that most of these restrictions probably help only minimally, at great cost to society and well-being.

“We are also number 1 in deaths by population, i.e. 1 in 1,000”
Not true, we are currently #14 on Worldometers if you sort by deaths per million. We are behind the UK, a much more policed and compliant society in many ways but broadly similar culturally. They also locked down a lot harder than we did. As did Italy and Spain, who are also ahead of us on the list of deaths per capita. Makes you wonder how much control we really have over outcomes …
Expect it to be more and more sensational & in your face (no pun intended) but media has got to keep you distracted with more and more Covid reporting while they attempt to hide all mention of the greatest fraud ever perpetrated upon American voters.
