Another Possible PG&E Power Shutoff Could Affect 130K Customers In 15 Counties

PG&E announced Friday that it has notified about 130,000 customers in 20 counties and tribal communities about a possible Public Safety Power Shutoff starting early Monday due to expected high winds that could ignite fires in areas with dry vegetation.

The notifications went out to PG&E customers in three counties in the greater Bay Area — Sonoma, Napa and Monterey — as well as Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Fresno, Lake, Nevada, Placer, Sierra, Tulare,
Tuolumne and Yuba, along with the five tribal communities of Dry Creek Rancheria, Jackson Rancheria, Middletown Rancheria, Shingle Springs Rancheria, and Tuolumne.

The windy conditions are expected to arrive late Sunday evening and peak in strength during the day Monday, then possibly linger in some regions through early Tuesday, according to PG&E.

If power is shut off, crews will then patrol PG&E lines to inspect for damage before restoring power.

The utility said the highest probability areas for the shutoff will be the Sierra foothills, the North Bay mountains and portions of the Central Coast.

PG&E will continue monitoring conditions over the weekend and send additional notifications to customers as needed. People are strongly urged to make sure their contact information for notifications is up-to-date by visiting www.pge.com/mywildfirealerts or by calling (800) 743-5000.

I got the email that they’re shutting off my power at my placer county home until Tuesday at 10pm. Lameeeee

I got the email that they’re shutting off my power at my placer county home until Tuesday at 10pm. Lame .

Are we in a battle between Gavin Newsom, CCHealth, BAAQMD, and PG&E to see who can be the biggest grinch?

Gee I guess it would be smart if you had solar and battery set up at your house. If you don’t have solar panels on your house you are way behind the times it’s almost 2021. And I see those Tesla energy vans around now I think they support the home batteries

They don’t work so good when the Sun doesn’t shine for a day. Also, read the fine print if you want your Tesla / LG battery tied to the GRID…..you give the Utility permission to siphon from your battery.

For those who think natural gas generators are the answer….gas also gets shut off if there’s a small fire 10-20 miles away. Happened in 2019 to people in Calistoga. Generac doesn’t tell you that!

Nuclear power is far more efficient, cleaner, and cheaper. Solar is still pretty lame. Running your home off of batteries is the stupidest thing imaginable unless you’re deep off grid. “It’s 2021 man, get with the times” lol yeah ok

Didn’t get any notice from PG&E about shut offs here but did get a notice in my bill about the rates going up to help them pay for the safety work they raised rates for years ago and didn’t do.

Right now there are no shutoffs planned for the East Bay. Napa-Sonoma hills and Sierra foothills are currently targeted.

Let’s see:

1 – Covid shutdown — check
2 – Spare the Air day — check
3 – Power shutdown by PGE — check

Things are great in the Single Party State.

On a different topic, I sent Gavin an email requesting that an increase in our state taxes would help with the homeless, incarcerated, and health benefits that are uninsured.

Great idea Chris and don’t think you’d favorite progressives aren’t figuring out a way to expropriate your wages entirely and just put you on a state allowed allowance. Why any conservative with a choice still lives in this state is beyond me.

Can’t go outside.
Can’t burn wood.
Power is shut off.
This all seems very Orwellian…………….

1984 started when the internet was born.

Be careful what you say about PG&E.

If they don’t like your comments or tone, they won’t provide any services.

That’s just how it is in the new normal.
