The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) today announced it has been awarded a $1,997,530 grant, which will help fund several departmental programs that increase public safety by combating underage drinking and educating licensees about alcoholic beverage laws.
The grant also allows ABC to award grants to local law enforcement agencies ranging from $10,000 to $20,000.
The funds can be utilized for holiday enforcement operations throughout California and to pay for operations that increase public safety.
“Keeping California’s communities safe is a priority for the ABC,” said ABC Director Eric Hirata. “California had 1,069 alcohol-impaired driving fatalities in 2018. This grant will help reduce youth access to alcohol and increase safety in communities throughout California through ABC Education and Prevention Programs.”
uhhhh 2 million dollars
so the demorats
paid other demorats
2 million of our tax dollars
when the state says they are broke.
and have to raise taxes exponentially
stop the fraud and corruption vote to save yourselves from over taxation without representation
Great comment, Random Task.
The money came from the Federal government, not from the state, and not from the California Democratic Party. Specifically, the grant came from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The money is going Alcoholic Beverage Control and to police departments.
.
It would be helpful for the public to know how about the typical cost to conduct one DUI checkpoint on a given night.
.
I mean, how far does this money go???
From the press release put out by the ABC the money pays for all of the below:
“ABC programs funded through the grant include Minor Decoy and Shoulder Tap Decoy operations, Fake identification enforcement, compliance checks involving alcohol delivery services, Informed Merchants Preventing Alcohol-Related Crime Tendency (IMPACT) inspections, Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drug (LEAD) trainings and Target Responsibility for Alcohol-Connected Emergencies (TRACE) trainings.”
Thanks for the replies.
But what are the dollar figures to run these programs? Are we getting value? What are the metrics for determining their effectiveness?? Where is the accountability?
Yippeeee! More money for entrapment of ‘Autists’ with operation shoulder tap. Isn’t this the type of inequity that the Dems are always crying about?
BTW, in regards to all of the DUI patrols and highway safety patrols….WHY aren’t police doing anything about these 25 year old vehicles with illegally modified and BLINDING headlights, they are dangerous to other drivers PERIOD.
Also, you wouldn’t need any grants if you just enforced the existing laws, example: why are there vehicles on the roads with 2018 and older registration???
i copied and pasted this from above for a question

all of the above results in what
the DA has stated she will not prosecute these types of crimes
especially if they are latinos ….but i digress
people are raiding stores in affluent cities dailey
the police are told to stand down and do nothing
my orginal statement stands
