Residents of a Walnut Creek home safely escaped a one-alarm fire Friday morning, fire officials said.
The blaze was reported at 6:20 a.m. at a house in the 100 block of San Pedro Court, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
Firefighters encountered smoke coming from the home when they arrived, and after being told someone was still inside they went into rescue mode, said Con Fire spokesman Steve Hill.
It later turned out that everyone had escaped safely, although one person was evaluated for smoke inhalation at the scene, Hill said.
The blaze is believed to have started in a back bedroom and the cause is under investigation, Hill said.
The fire was under control at 6:42 a.m.
