60 acres of land in Concord, which includes 40 duplex buildings (built in 1965), 42 apartment style buildings (built in 1989), a housing office, a maintenance building and a community center is on the auction block for a starting bid of $15-million.

The auction started on Oct.15, and is expected to last about 45-60 days.

The property, which is located in North Concord, was formerly used for housing by the US Coast Guard.

I sure hope the City doesn’t bid on this land.

There is no more money to poor down rats holes.

The people on the City Council should know this by now.

i bet the tax and spend democrats are falling all over their zoom meetings, trying to remember if the camera is on, thinking about how to spend all the taxes from this farce

Whereas the Republicans will be dreaming up ways to hide the money in their own bank accounts or launder it through their corrupt children. That is if we are judging by the current administration.

Corrupt children is a bipartisan tradition, just look at Hunter Biden. (If your local social media giant is allowing anybody to post anything about him, that is.)

Where’s Hunter?
Where’s Harris? You do know she has now been implicated in the China payola.

So you care about issues around Hunter Biden but not that Trump made illegal payments to Ivanka to hide money from the IRS?

Yes that’s correct. IRS is an illegal organization.

Out of curiousity, does anybody know where the money would go to? The city of concord? The Coast Guard? The company/individual who owns the land currently?

The GSA i(Government Services Administration) is selling it so the money goes to the Federal Gov. More money to build the wall 😊😊

I thought Mexico was paying for the wall?

Safe injection site and house all the homeless. That’s Concord for you.!

I use drive by there on a regular basis, the area is all fenced in, never saw anybody in there. Can’t speak for the area away from Olivera Road.

Obviously the land will be bought by a developer and a bunch of houses or town homes will go in. Or some sort of condo complex. But it would be cool if it was bought by one person who built a mansion there

I hear Trump is looking at this property.

Make Concord great again?

Just let the homeless take it over and they will burn it down. Will same on demolition costs. Bet Newsolini is drooling to get a hold of this property just like he did in Pittsburg at the Motel 6.

Sarcastic-you betcha!

Bidding will end up over/under 40 million??? Place your bets.. Bonus points for guessing the developer who will land the prize..

BFF Out!

.
Here come crappy built houses by Seeno (Discovery Builders)!
.

Seriously can someone please tell him to stop stacking 100-12 bedroom houses on a plot of land meant for 50 with zero backyards and a bedroom window within reach of your neighbors

Best I can do is 25 bucks.

how can the concord city council screw this up?

their track record is belligerent

when it comes to dealing with anything within the confines of the city

but yeah the democrat scheming city council will have their mugs involved somehow

maybe they will place a plaque on the property …patting their own backs for spending other peoples money ……AGAIN

This land belongs and has always belonged to the Fedreal government. Concord has no dog in this fight.

@Random Task
As usual, you don’t know what you are talking about.

LOL – great to see the same few contributors with their sunshine attitudes today!! Carry On!!!

Good news for the city coffers, both in purchase revenue and new property tax income. Also much needed additional housing. But I won’t be surprised if it gets screwed up with city restrictions on required % low income units, union labor requirements, and likely new rent control restrictions. Whoever buys it will want to make a profit.

To all of the people that do not follow local politics but are quick to comment. The City of Concord’s offer to buy the property for $15 million was turned down so now it is up for grabs for developers.
The City will have some say as to what is built there as it will go before the Design Review Board, the Planning Commission and the City Council for approval.

You are correct if they re-build. If they remodel or basically upgrade they can keep all structures in place. If rents can support purchase price and upgrades, city won’t have any say, other than permits.

Are those the sh!tboxes off of olivera?

Ha! Yes, across from Pixieland.

The city can buy this with all there extra money and turn it into a large homeless city within the city. Guess I should not say that out loud sounds like something stupid they would do.

Great more greenhouse gases, traffic people and cars.

Perfect place for the soccer stadium which failed on Monument. No, seriously!

Great idea @JazzMan! That site is currently nothing but an eyesore. The soccer stadium would be a good fit, given that there is a softball complex right across the street.

How about building an Eco village with hive living quarters and use the latest technology for energy, power and water consumption. Include a bike and walking trail to NConcord BART. Get our good buddy BillGates on board for his innovative turn wastewater into drinking water.

And publicly drink the FIRST jug of water from the waste water treated liquid on camera and national news!!

Concord74: Netflix has a series regarding the eco toilet I suggested. Season 1, Episode 1. Near the end Bill Gates drank the water produced from human waste. I thought I saw him gag ever so slightly. I laughed of course. It is a good tale. Watch it! 🙂

Stand by for a huge increase in traffic in the area. This isn’t even that nice in the area. They’ll probably try to build some expensive houses they are totally over built for that district.

Can they just give it to Seeno so we can get over it. I am sure Seeno has given 15 plus million in political donations.

I’ll take a little extra traffic to have them turn that area into something nice. Even remodel what’s there and sell them as duplexes and condos.
