Contra Costa County Expected To Move Into COVID-19 “Red Tier” On Tuesday

More indoor businesses, including movie theaters, gyms and restaurant dining rooms will be able to reopen in Contra Costa County starting this week.

Contra Costa has met the state’s “red tier” criteria for two weeks, which means they’ll move out of the “purple tier” on Tuesday.

Among the openings allowed in “red tier” counties are indoor gyms (at 10 percent capacity), museums and movie theaters (at 25 percent capacity), restaurant dining rooms and houses of worship and other cultural spaces (25 percent capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer).

Businesses that have been open under purple-tier rules can expand under red tier; nail salons, skin care boutiques and tattoo parlors can resume indoor operations, and indoor retail and shopping malls can go from 25 percent to 50 percent capacity.

Elementary, middle and high schools will be allowed to open as soon as Oct. 13 without needing waivers.

this whole business is hilarious

so either the virus is gone, where do viruses come from, making all its nowhere plans for nobody, or we’ve all got immunity…

ridiculous

You can’t put toothpaste back in the tube … The virus, mutated or not is here to stay. Like the common cold. Let our bodies will develop immunity. Kids and persons under 70 are the least apt to fall seriously ill from it.

@Justifiable languor~You’re correct, it is here like the common cold and flu season. Just checked Contra Costa County Dashboard–we are in the RED tier now but they are not announcing it for some reason. Also, checked the deaths so far 207 total with 144 of them 70 plus years old.

Wait, what?! So all schools in contra costa county except for those in the MDUSD will be open by October 13th?!!!!!!

No! Read the words on the page. Schools will be “allowed” to open. MDUSD (or any other district) was never mentioned. This will come down to an agreement between each school district and the teacher unions. I doubt it’ll happen soon.

Not if Brian Lawrence can stop it. Brian would rather do anything to make republicans look bad (including ruining your kids education) to support his commie leftist agenda.

Lawrence is a dunce. Spouts politics in his FB posts that show him to be a public figure with the school board. Why was he elected .. but more so, why is he still in office when he is trying to impose his political belief on our children?

Open them up 100%. The government needs to step away. This is all BS.

Tell that to all the COVID illness patients and deaths every day. Ease into it.

#wearyourmask

Too bad the schools will certainly NOT open. The freaking unions don’t care about kids.

My niece lives with my 73 year old mother, there are other people worried than unions.

@Me, there are good reasons for individuals to be wary, but elementary schools, at least, should already have been back to in-person.

“Will be able to reopen.” I’m curious how many businesses will reopen, and how many customers will come. I’m enjoying outdoor church services. I’ll be going to the movies and restaurants as soon as we can.

Can we go to a bar to watch football & pound beers?
Do I still have to wear a mask?
Can we still drive 100 + mph on HWY 4 ?

1) Not yet, bars are orange tier
2) Yes, otherwise the numbers are gonna go back up
3) um… not legally… but probably. 🙂

Yippee! Thank you for giving us our freedoms back.
Actually, Freedom is NOT granted by those who work for us.
Next time it will be TAKEN BY FORCE as has been done throughout world history.

You still have to wear a seatbelt, and shoes and shirt when you enter a business. You can’t smoke in parks or apartments. you still have to file you taxes by April 15th. You still have to follow hunrdreds of laws everyday. Having a tantrum over the measures put in place to protect EVERYBODY and get the economy back, is so immature and selfish. I really do prey you are just some troll and not a member of our community.

Me: you made the case for Anon. You and your ilk are the problem.

OPEN THE BARS GD IT

At least open the AA meetings for the alcoholics who are demanding the bars open.

I think all the private high schools will open up then – with the hybrid system – 2 on, 2 off. Fifty percent of the student body there each day. The rest done online. Masks required. This makes sense.

I doubt it. The schools are saving between 15-18% a month by not opening. The teachers are getting full pay and only have to work half days “since they need the other half to come up with online curriculum”

I’ll be shocked if the private schools reopen. And as the principle of the private school my kids go to, “we are following the best practices of the public school district”

Yea… teachers Union runs the school district. Full pay half work… so the private schools are doing the same… but tuition is the same and most schools the tuition rose this year…

I’m keeping my fingers cross that contra costa county will be open on Tuesday after 6 months of clouser, this is unbelievable.

Yeah over a million deaths is unbelievable.. oh wait it is and the it’s only going to get higher. Stay safe out there and wear your mask. It’s little things that can prevent big things.

@R

what seems to be unbelievable is that some folks still don’t see that this is all just a political act to get rid of Trump. OK, the virus is a problem for some, has a 98+% survival rate, so we should protect those individuals but not by destroying the economy. of course that is what the left wanted all along. historically if the economy is bad then the incumbent president isn’t re-elected.

@Ash

1. 98%+ survival rate. Okay, let’s say that 60% of the country gets COVID at some point, and lets say that only 1% of those infected die (99% survival rate). That scenario would be about 2 million dead Americans.

2. Survival rate is not an innate characteristic of the disease. That number is affected by factors like hospital capacity and efficacy of available treatments. Thus why it is so important to slow the spread by wearing masks, limiting crowds (particularly in indoor spaces), so that the systems that have helped keep our survival rate as close to 100% as possible can work to achieve that goal.

3. Just because you can’t seem to view anything outside of the lens of Trump fanhood doesn’t mean most of the rest of the population can’t. Not everything is about Trump, as much as he might not like that to be true.

The county is encouraging everyone to go out tomorrow and eat INSIDE at any restaurant that dares to open, just make sure not to watch the debate.

Nothing to see, folks.

Go A’s!!!

Wait for it……..

Let’s hope we don’t see future spikes – stay safe everyone!

Tiers of a clown.

I have talked with nurses out of john muir and they have said that now they know how to treat most cases anand the survival rate is very high this whole thing is a joke!!!

What happened to the Contra Costa County Health Services daily COVID updates that have been missing for days?

The numbers started looking good. Can’t have that.

They are struggling to figure out how to control us and make churches keep lists. Don’t worry they will find a way.

How much longer for bars, please open bars…….life is short, enjoy every moment!

Just a distraction so we don’t question why everything is on fire.

Open up the damn Gyms

Gyms can now open indoors – at 10% capacity. I’ll be there.

I drove by the Solano Flea Market Saturday, it was packed, no parking anywhere, thousands of people in there. Thankfully you can open your gyms at 10%. Did the insurance/leases/taxes go down by 90%? Are the employees accepting 10% of their wages? And we get to have 25% at other venues, what a blessing bestowed on us by our loving elitists. Sure happy I’m not one of the poor souls croaked in the 99.5% survivable death rate pandemic. But I’m not over 70 and not in a nursing home with health complications already, so that increased my odds, praise the Lord. You all in the market for a bridge PM me, I got lots of them, all sanitized and covid free.

I think you misread the opening plan, when they say 10%, its meant as 10% of capacity, as in building capacity, not 10% of how many are normally in there. So if the building the gym is in is rated for 200 people then you can have 20 people in there. Now while this is sometimes less than what would be in there(i.e. peak hours), most of the time there are less than that at a gym.

School’s need to open up! Elementary kids getting 2 hours on zoom, what are they possibly learning? MDU is a JOKE!!! They have great teachers, I’m sure they are going to fight it. They were promised a pay raise and never got it.

Haven’t private schools been open for a month? How are they doing?
I do realize that kids that go to private schools live in a different world than the ones that go to schools like Meadow Homes but there must be some data by now.

Mdusd has already boldly said they won’t open this year. I supported them throughout the whole drama about school district being too big and WC going on it’s own. Starting to realize it is too big. The teachers union clearly has more power over them. And the district doesn’t have enough $$$$ to socially distance all the schools.
