CSU Campuses to Continue With Distance Learning During 2021 Spring Semester

All 23 California State University (CSU) campuses will continue with distance learning during the 2021 spring semester, CSU Chancellor Timothy P. White announced in a message to the university community.

“After extensive consultation with campus presidents and other stakeholders, and careful consideration of a multitude of factors – regarding the pandemic and its consequences, as well as other matters impacting the university and its operations – I am announcing that the CSU will continue with this primarily virtual instructional approach for the academic term that begins in January 2021, and also will continue with reduced populations in campus housing,” said White. “This decision is the only responsible one available to us at this time. And it is the only one that supports our twin North Stars of safeguarding the health, safety and well-being of our faculty, staff, students and communities, as well as enabling degree progression for the largest number of students.”

The CSU system currently has about 500,000 students.

I guess public schools won’t open. Are we getting most of our property taxes back yet? The roads, now the schools. Or do they want us to pay the same but receive less? I’m already confused why I have to pay for schools when I have no kids.

Strad September 12, 2020 - 12:31 PM - 12:31 PM

The money is already spent.

Oh, please September 12, 2020 - 1:13 PM - 1:13 PM

I am confused as to why I have to give the homeless free money and pay for illegals to live in this country free of charge when I have never been a drain on society.

Shiloh September 12, 2020 - 2:05 PM - 2:05 PM

Probably because it benefits us all when the younger generation is educated. NOT saying I have no issues with the public school system as it is, because I definitely do.

WC dad September 12, 2020 - 7:18 PM - 7:18 PM

Because… Having educated children is better for society as a whole???? Duh.

Gittyup September 13, 2020 - 9:12 AM - 9:12 AM

Because having well-funded retirement options benefits for school administrators is better for society.

@Shiloh
Well put.

Concord Mom September 12, 2020 - 6:58 PM - 6:58 PM

Because that’s what a good society does. My kids didn’t go to public schools but I absolutely am paying my taxes. When Parents children finish school, they continue to pay taxes. People who don’t own cars still have to pay for the roads to drive on. People who don’t enjoy the outdoors still have to pay for the parks you like to utilize. Why do you have to be such a jerk. Go live like a hermit if you hate Society so much

No need to be nasty. He is entitled to his opinion. That’s why I like Claycord, usually nice, grown up people who can converse without going nuts.

Well if the schools and parks are closed and the roads don’t get fixed, why am I the jerk? I think you’re the jerk for going along with this and NOT asking. No taxation without representation. What the hell happened to you people?

Shiloh September 12, 2020 - 10:45 PM - 10:45 PM

I don’t think you’re a jerk. I understand your point. But I don’t think you’d enjoy a society where the kids don’t have to go to school 😳

Sam September 13, 2020 - 9:43 AM - 9:43 AM

I do think they should go to school. I don’t understand why we are happily paying for things we are not receiving. That is the only point. Obviously I know why we want kids to be educated. I find it insulting that so many people turned what I said into not wanting kids to go to school instead of what are they doing with our tax dollars now that everything is closed and the roads are crumbling. Par for the course when engaging the politically manipulated low IQ public.
