In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Walnut Creek is partnering with Shelter, Inc. and with St. Vincent de Paul Society for emergency rental and utility assistance for low-income residents.
A total of $105,000 from the Community Development Block Grant funds and the separate Community Development Block Grant Stimulus Funds is available to support low-income households affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
These funds are only available to assist low-income families and individuals who are unable to pay rent or utility bills due to a reduction of work hours, furloughs, unemployment, and/or diagnosis with COVID-19.
Assistance is available either through Shelter, Inc. or St. Vincent de Paul. Residents may receive up to three months of emergency rental and utility assistance based on the need and funding availability.
Looks like a great organization I wonder if they are accepting any donations? I wish I could donate as of not not working either but still surviving that I do not need the service.

That’s how it should work. The organization needs to use a portion of that cash for fundraising in Alamo and Orinda as trump tax breaks have helped them keep more of their money. Donations are tax deductible and would give the better off in this county an opportunity to contribute at the level they are comfortable with. When you crush everyone with taxes, people who may be more generous don’t think about donating any more than you make them. This could be good if they get some people out there grinding. Special honors and acknowledgement from the city and county helps also😉

Rent on a one bed apartment in outside downtown Walnut Creek is $1900 per month, which means $105,000 is equal to rent for 55.26 units. What is the really level of need in Walnut Creek and Contra Costa as a whole?
Last time I was in Walnut Creek, the people were so pretentious that they were making sure each restaurant had Grey Poupon. Poor people don’t live in Walnut Creek and there’s a reason for that. It’s great that the city is “supporting” low-income housing but we all must realize that the WCPD will be harassing those low-income residents until the “support” runs out, or the harassment breaks them.
