Firefighters are battling a three-alarm structure fire at 300 N. Civic Dr. in Walnut Creek this morning.
Multiple apartments are on fire, according to ConFire. A rescue was also underway on the second floor of the building, fire officials said.
The building has been evacuated.
UPDATE: The fire has been extinguished.
UPDATE: One person was rescued by firefighters from the second floor balcony. That person is hospitalized with burn injuries, but is alive.
Thats all we need. Poor people. Could be the reason are neighborhood is smoky as all get out.
This is The Keys apartment complex in WC. Many elderly people live here. We are praying for the safety of the residents and first responders on scene. WC Fire had a very quick, proactive response within minutes of the fire being reported. Please stay safe and alert people!
Thank you Walnut Creek Fire Dept, xo
AND…Thank you Mayor of Claycord for always keeping us informed and updated. I appreciate you
God bless Walnut Creek
Thank you for the news.
Can always trust Claycord. And Sassy. 👍
Hope everyone is safe.
I believe that would be Contra Costa Fire Department. Probably the station on Civic?
Thank you for your services.
Mr. Mayor of Claycord,
Do you know what the City of Walnut Creek is planning to do with
Excutive Park area at the corner of Oak Grove Rd, & Shadelands Dr.?
For the past month they have been tearing down (removing trees, irrigation pipes, etc.) the area where the lakes were? If you recall, there use to be a restaurant there many, many years ago before it burned down.
Hope you can find out,,,,and thanks,..
It’s going to be a bank
That complex has a history of fires. Before this fire, there was a fire with, as I recall, at least one fatality. I think that was around the first of this year.
I thank you too, Claycord! It’s amazing how you are always on top of everything! If there’s ever something going on and I’m curious about it, I sign onto claycord and usually you’re already on it with all the details! I guess you never sleep. (You have my permission to take a break:)
Haha, thanks so much, Badge1104. Many thanks go to the many Claycordians who always send in tips for us to post.
Couldn’t do it without the support from you and all the others.
Thanks for the kind words.
Re: Fire Activity – A couple of weeks ago I chatted with one of the firefighters from neighbor Station #2. She mentioned that the volume of calls to the station was quiter than historical from the first SIP order in mid-March to late May. Since the, call volume increased to historical averages except she said fire calls were making up a higher percentage than normal.
She also mentioned she felt safe on medical calls, given procedures and safety gear implemented for COVID-19 safety.
Thank you WCFD!!

Love to all firefighters. I sure do hope the person with burn injuries will
be okay.
Can you imagine having on that many clothes and carrying it, and a lot of heavy equipment, around on one of these hot days? Those guys are superhuman. I don’t know how they do it. Thanks Firefighters.
I’m just now finding out about this. As a burn survivor, my heart goes out to the person who was burned. I also live with chronic pain, so pain is familiar territory. Burn pain is in a special class by itself. It will take you places you never knew existed. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I also hope this person is receiving adequate pain relief. There is a trend in this country in which patients in need of opiate pain meds are being denied because of the opioid epidemic. Also, I hope that this person has family and/or friends to lend support.
By the way, if you can spare a few dollars, it would be cool if you could donate to the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation: http://www.aarbf.org. No, I’m not affiliated with them; but they did help me after I had my burn accident. They used to run a burn support group at the Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley back when there used to be a burn unit there. I attended that group until they moved it to a different hospital on the other side of the bay.
We all appreciate Claycord and thank you all who make this platform available. Keep up the good work.
Like the fire fighters don’t have enough they are dealing with already. I have family who has worked for CAL FIRE for years and know what they go through as well as their families. God bless you all.
