Congressman Mark DeSaulnier announced he will host an emergency virtual town hall to discuss the United States Postal Service and voting in Contra Costa County on Monday, August 24 at 3:00 p.m.
The event will be held live on Congressman DeSaulnier’s Facebook page (facebook.com/repmarkdesaulnier).
DeSaulnier will be joined by Harold Kelso, California State President of the National Association of Letter Carriers as well as Deborah Cooper, Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters, and Scott Konopasek, Assistant Registrar for Contra Costa.
The town hall will feature a brief presentation and panel discussion as well as a question and answer period addressing the recent changes made at USPS that are affecting mail delivery and mail-in ballots.
What else would you expect from Nancy’s puppet.
I call bs!
this is all about giving nancy control over the choice for president when the post office fails to deliver (no pun intended) and congress gets to choose the next leader of our country.
see the 20th amendment
Do your job! No one cares about the bogus USPS ”scandel”. Our state is literally falling, and burning, apart. We have no money, drugs and crime are increasing, homeless people run amok, fires are ravaging the state more than anywhere else and we botched our COVID lock down a…..and you want to talk about the mailman. I guess if I was such a failure is try and distract the masses as well.
Those of us with all of our mental faculties in tact vare very much.
Those of us with all our mental faculties know how to use the word “intact”.
What has this guy actually done for anyone in CC county since he has been in office?
He is just a Nancy Peloquin puppet. Get rid of career politicians. Vote for the right person that supports your values not the party that has brainwashed you.
Trying to elect someone in this Dem-infested state that can overcome the infestation is a pipe-dream! Look at how Pelosi, Barbara Lee, Eshoo, ad nauseum have maintain their lockhold on this state and Congress!!
Until there is a way to break this lockhold, CA and lot of other Dem states are doomed!
Love it! Fires burning all over the State, people losing their homes and some their lives and Mark wants to talk about the Post Office and Voting. Priorities Mark, priorities.
Oh boy goodie. Most grown ups will be at work, but go ahead carry on without the input of the actual tax payers…you know the people you work for. Nothing like Mark beating dead horses after the fact. Not an original thought in his brain
Will Mark be able to show us a complete audit the Democrats did of the post office before giving them a 25 Billion dollar handout? Sounds like the post office was starting to make changes so they could stop the bleeding. Instead of giving them a 25 Billion dollar gift let’s find out why they continue to lose money and fix it. Maybe you could remove the unions, stop the money losing deals with companies like Amazon and setup 401K so the employee are responsible for their own retirement and health care like the rest of the private sector. Maybe it is time to privatize the postal service so there is an incentive to make money. I hate the way the Democrats keep giving away Billions of tax payer money without us having a say.
You do realize that the post office has been struggling because of Republican passed legislation to fully fund their pension. This is something no other government run agency is required to do. Prior to that the USPS was doing quite well. Also, we should not be expecting the USPS to make a profit but to break even.
The USPS is critical for this nation and should absolutely NOT be privatized. By privatizing the USPS and making profits the goal you will see whole areas of the country lose postal service. Rural areas will get limited to no service because it isn’t profitable. There is a reason why the great Benjamin Franklin started to the USPS, so don’t believe the Republican lie that everything is better privatized.
The Republicans continue to sabotage the USPS for the gains of their donors/friends/and own pockets..Just look at the conflict of interest the current Postmaster General has. Stocks in competing services? The man has ZERO experience and is just another Alligator in Trump’s swamp.
The House passed funding measure that will go nowhere. What does he think he can do? As for voting, those that are going to vote will do so, those that don’t vote, won’t. He can’t do anything about that either.
recent changes made at USPS
What are these changes? Always floating out a position. Usually unfounded.
This guy is a total looser. What a waste of our tax dollars. Time to vote him out!
Despise the stooge or the village idiots who voted for him? 🤔
What Mark will say… blah blah blah.. what it means… we want to waste your money, let us
Congress (and the Union) have been ignoring reform for the post office for years (no mail delivery on Saturday even Wednesday, close small post offices, etc). Old news. But now the Democrats think the post office is important because of mail in voting. Now let’s turn it into a scandal.
What are you going to do Markie? You’re just going to say Trump’s behind it all, Trump’s a bad man, Republicans suck. You know the usual.
The post office has been a disaster for years. The removal of post office boxes and the reallocation of sorting machines has been ongoing for years. Look up the numbers during the Obama/Biden years.
And what, exactly, will the post office be able to fix in just two months? They just want to give a payoff to the USPS unions.
One of the earlier posters (@Ash) is exactly right: These are simply shenanigans to steal the election by tying things up in the courts.
“Look up the numbers during the Obama/Biden years” ? Look up the numbers? Where have I heard that before? Isn’t there a reality TV star that uses that for one of his tag lines? Instead of giving actual answers to actual questions, he just says “look up the numbers” as if he actually knows “the numbers”, and insinuates that you are naive because you don’t know “the numbers”. People that know anything about “the numbers” don’t call them “the numbers”. They quantify and qualify specific data sets which can be presented as verifiable information. It’s actually quite easy, you just have to use your words.
“The numbers during the Obama/Biden years”. That’s a lot of numbers. So many numbers. People have never seen numbers like these. People say to me. “Sir, a lot of people are talking about these numbers.” So, since you have obviously seen these and understand these numbers, could you please share with us what they are and what they mean?
Are you afraid that if you research the actions of the USPS during that time period you’ll find your comment to be vapid and uninformed?
@Rollo Tomasi. Sure. If that’s what you need to hear, I am afraid. Scared to death. My knees are chattering. And even greater than my morbid fear of being exposed as vapid and uninformed, is my fear of suffering people that don’t understand argument or persuasion, who instead of presenting information and offering their best interpretation of it, present their conclusion and then demand that their audience do the work of finding evidence to support it.
I have to send out time sensitive original documents as part of my job. I haven’t used the USPS to do so in 15 years.
Another Spare the Air day!!!! Thanks for the waste of time.
You can talk about problems, or you can do something about them. All DeSaulnier and Newsom seem to do is talk about them. Democrats can’t seem to recover from their opposition to and obsessive hatred for our President and move on to sonething more constructive. This USPS issue is day-old news. These town hall meetings are make work, time-wasters, a routine DeSaulnier has fallen into to make us think he’s actually doing something and seeking our input, when in reality they’re just his Democratic Party Approved Bull Sessions.
How about holding an emergency meeting over the fact that the air is toxic and we can’t breathe??!!
Out of all the problems we are facing now,
how does this ever qualify for an “EMERGENCY”
Town Hall. How out of touch with reality is
this guy. It shows we can’t count on him for
help with any of the real emergencies that
so many people are facing now.
Thanks Mark!
For nothing as usual!
The Democrat Party must be really worried that Trump could openly win California and other “Deep Blue” stronghold states; otherwise, the Democrats would not be pushing the transparent and obvious attempt to pack the ballot box with tens of thousands of phony mail-in ballots.
Markie-Mark should tell us what Congress will do to help manage and restore healthy forests with minimal dead tinder.
I should risk my life to attend a meeting about how not to risk my life to vote???
It’s a calculated move to create confusion and uncertainty about the election. Dems have no chance of winning with Sleepy Joe so they will cheat or tie it up in the courts until they can change the outcome!!
It’s only on Facebook… but I still wouldn’t take the chance.
Mark loves mail in voting, and dreams of being a rider for the phony express.
Mark holding a emergency town hall meeting on how “he can remain relevant”. He is a piece of work.
This is so true! And made me laugh! Desperation and lack of moral courage is catching up with Mark (tell yet another sexist joke) DeSaulnier. His time has come & gone now, and he needs to retire instead of grasping at whatever he can to try and look relevant.
The Democrat party is ruled by union bosses, trial attorneys, and corporate lobbyists. President Trump is standing up to these corrupt power brokers. But rather than govern, the Democrats are resorting to bullying, intimidation and subversion. Including the chaos surrounding the USPS and vote by mail.
A question for Mark: If President Trump wins this election will you attend his 2020 inauguration?
in 2016 you skipped the inauguration of President Trump. This act showed contempt for voters.
And so any concern that you may claim you have for voters rights is a farce.
Head Fake!
Here’s your new agenda:
Partner with CA Senate and Legislature to develop near real time plan to conduct controlled burns and removal of deadwood from our forests, beginning near rural population centers.
Environmental lawsuits to be set aside due to public health emergency.
Begin emergency procurement of gas turbine electrical generation systems that run on natural gas or JP4. Both raw materials are available in California, if that’s needed for your optics. Rolling, no-notice blackouts are especially harmful for women, children, and Seniors, and have no place in a world leader state such as California.
Again, this is a public health emergency, so there will be wide public support for these actions.
I know Mark, orange man bad.
Retire already, Mark. Your health is failing just as your mentality. Enoughis enough. Oh what is wrong with me. You are on the public dole for life with all of your cadillac benefits and pension.
I don’t give two flying f’s about the USPS and mail in voting right now, we can’t breath out here Mark.
People who rely on the Post Office to get their medications in a timely matter are being impacted by these “changes”.
Many of our elderly and veterans have to purchase their medication from Canada because they cannot afford U.S. prices.
This is an important crisis alongside with Covid and the Fires.
Is Canada really so much better? They rely on the Looney!🤡
I don’t believe you. Trump just made it legal to buy perceptions from Canada. It’s not even in effect yet. You are lying through your teeth. Never miss an opportunity to create a crisis. You democrats love using drama to sell your conspiracy theories.
American’s have been buying prescription drugs from Canada for a long time. This is a fact.
So let’s just call this what it is. Our county (and most of our state) has allowed absentee/vote by mail ballots for decades. This has nothing to do with our congressman representing his constituents, but rather following the DNC “playbook” that absolutely nothing to do with us with his “outrage” and “emergency town hall.”
Party politics rather than local issues once again rule the day.
It was another very informative Town Hall. Thank you to the Congressman, his staff, and to the others on the panel
Mark and Joe Biden have a lot in common. They both are as sharp as a ball peen hammer.
