The DMV will close all offices statewide at 3:00 p.m. each day through Wednesday August 19 to conserve energy and protect the health and safety of customers and employees from high heat impacts.
Customers with and without appointments will be admitted until approximately 2:30 p.m., as time and space allow, to accommodate the 3:00 p.m. shutdown. Those with appointments between 2:30 and 5:00 p.m. will be contacted and rescheduled after the heat wave.
“We are doing our part to protect the state’s power grid by reducing our energy consumption,” said DMV Director Steve Gordon. “We know that Californians depend on us for service and apologize for any inconvenience. We will do our best to reschedule customers as soon as possible.”

Oddly, I did have an appointment Monday and they called to reschedule to Thursday. Their phone ID was “private caller” – lucky I picked it up. Never have I ever had the DMV call me!

The DMV is moving towards collecting fees only and providing no services. You cannot get through on the phone, or at least I haven’t been able to. This is another one Democrats are putting over on us while everyone is confined to their homes totally stressed out dealing with the fear and frustration they have created for us.
Just open two hours earlier, when the weather is cooler and electricity demand is lower. I’m sure people would rather wait outside for an hour in 75 degrees instead of 100 degrees.
