Contra Costa Introduces New County Clerk & Recorder System

The Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder launched a new County Clerk and Recorder services system at its downtown Martinez office.

The new system includes a suite of digital applications that provide improved security, redundancy and productivity tools.

The customized system features a “google-like” search tool for locating real property records, some dating back to the 1800’s, and allows residents to purchase certified copies of vital records and real property documents remotely. We are pleased to offer streamlined online services for the public’s convenience and safety amid the current health crisis.

“We are excited to expand our technologies to provide these essential services to the constituents of Contra Costa”, said Debi Cooper, County Clerk-Recorder, after recording the first document in the new system. “I am so proud of the staff, who worked long and hard to bring this project to fruition. This accomplishment takes on even more significance when coupled with the challenges of personal distancing and remote work due to the pandemic.”

After an extensive RFP process, the County selected Granicus, Inc. (Denver, CO) to customize and implement the system. The Granicus suite of services replaces the County’s 20-year old legacy system, which was no longer supported.

They were pretty good at remembering ‘tax debt’ back in the day.

We had a home loan held up thirty years ago when an unpaid dog license renewal fee appeared on our credit report.

The dog had died years earlier, but we failed to report ‘that’ to our overlords – the county tax gods. They rewarded us with added interest, penalties, & then more interest on the unpaid interest & penalties.

Is there a website..

Or do you still have to go there the old antiquated way?

In other words, you will never be able to talk to a human at their office ever again. You will interact with their system which means you will have to create an “account” and obtain all your information “online.” If their system doesn’t have an answer to your question, you’/re just out of luck.

The wait now to talk to a California DMV operator is two hours and they no longer provide some forms through the mail. You cannot obtain an license/ID application just by visiting their website and printing it out, Probably the most basic form they offer. You have to create an “account” providing all sorts of irrelevant personal information and fill out the application online. Guess they are going to enrich the State coffers by selling our information now, too. Or, you can make a trip to the DMV office to get a copy. So convenient!

It positively amazes me that these dimwits do not seem to realize that not everybody is “online” … or even want to be for that matter. I know people that wouldn’t touch a computer or a cellphone with a ten foot pole. Sickening how narrow these idiots vision has become that just because they sit staring into a computer monitor all day they think everybody else should, also.

This system must of been rolled out a few months ago because i was able to get a recorded document on myself for just $2. The system was user friendly and I was pleased to find my document that I had recently recorded. As far as security … mmm, not so sure, I was surprised to be able to search on other people and find the type of recorded documents filed with them.

That is the ugliest building I think I’ve seen in quite a while, with the lower 4/5 looking like the WWII New Reich Chancellery “authoritarian architecture” topped off with a Spanish tile roof from a California housing tract. I really appreciate that they put their services on line so I am in no danger of having to visit it.
