Taco Bell, located in the Encina Grande shopping center on Ygnacio Valley Rd. in Walnut Creek, has permanently closed.

All items were removed from the business and the windows were covered within the past few weeks, according to employees of a nearby business.

It’s unknown what will fill the spot.

Surprised they lasted as long as they did without a drive-thru. Always hated going there as the location and parking lot was a mess to deal with, and obviously no drive thru.

@Stove –

Can you elaborate on what you mean by “parking lot was a mess to deal with.”

It was a mess during construction but I’ve never had problems parking there at any time since. You may not be able to park directly in front of your store but there’s plenty of parking at just about any time or day. I visit that mall several times a week for years and have not seen the issues you mentioned.

I’m sorry but that parking light is kind of strange. I can never park even close to the business I want to get to, and then the slots are kind of odd for my car. Add to that the strange ‘ditches’ they have throughout the parking lot for drainage hinder your walk through the lot. (I’ve also seen and heard of cars getting their wheels stuck in those ditches and people stepping,/ fallng into them when getting out of the car)
Aside from that, hehehe , I really did enjoy that Taco Bell as it was specious and had a lot of nice seating and never very crowded.

I agree with the parking lot being a “mess”. traffic does not flow well, most times hard to find a spot, and cars stopping to offload passengers and blocking aisle to do so are the norm. Few pedestrians look to see if a car is coming, just jump out in front of vehicles. try to avoid it.

@Badge1104 – there are no ditches in this parking lot. You’re thinking of the new Safeway center across the street. That center has car swallowing ditches between parking spots.

Total agreement. It wasn’t a drive thru, and parking was a chore– assuming you were able to find a spot. It wasn’t a good location for a quick pick up during certain hours.

.
Those “ditches” are mandated by the State and the bayvarea regional water quality control board to passively filter stormwater from parking lots and other non-permeable surfaces.

Don’t like them? Contact your county and state representatives.

It’s Walnut Creek in a shopping mall that has restaurants and a Whole Foods. They should of done Taco Bell Cantina that serves the alcohol and made it trendy

Should have. Grade school stuff… You can do better.

“Should have” or “should’ve” but certainly not “should of” .

I guess my boycott worked.

Whole Foods apparently gets to dictate what tenants in that center get to renew their leases and which don’t. Whole Foods tried to chase out Spring Garden Chinese but the public uproar was sufficient enough to change that.

noooo that was my favorite place to go after school 😭😭

Nothing to do with Whole Foods. Another COVID casualty. Besides, maybe now we can finally get an Olive Garden!

Sorry Booyah … Taco Bell’s lease WAS involved in the Whole Foods vs. restaurants lease nonsense in past years. We [various customers] fought for Jade Garden’s lease renewal; threatened to boycott Whole Foods. Taco Bell didn’t have the same support. The UPS store [or other shipping store] next to Jade Garden lost their lease at the same time

With the schools closing, bet they lost a lot of business.

Bring back EVIES!!

Let’s not get too worked up over this. It’s not like you have to drive to Tracy to get a Burrito Supreme.

¡Yo quiero Evie’s¡

I hope it will be an exciting food/cafe opportunity or fitness opportunity that will work with the businesses there to expand into the parking lot and make Encina more pedestrian friendly. Unfortunately Covid will kill the prospect of anything new and exciting and we will get some retail option where one or two employees can man a business- like a Verizon store or a sunglasses store.

I’m sorry I contributed to their demise. They had the water filled coin machine drop game where if you landed in a certain spot you get a free taco. Me and the fellas use to win that before every friday night football game. RIP

There was a Taco Bell there?

That is a shame. It was a fabulous Taco Bell. Very clean and was nice to visit.

I ate there once. The kids behind the counter had no clue about the advertised special in a commercial on tv which this particular taco bell wouldn’t honor, price-wise. And the place was quite dirty. Never went back. Wont miss it.

Namaste, it is no wonder why Americans are as fat as they are, krpya consider a Cumin Go, Lotus Feed You, Zen And Out, Curry In A Hurry, Naan Better, Curry Carry Out, Curry Hut, Naan N Curry, Curry Up Now, The Curry Lounge, Bayleaf and Beyond, Smash Curry, Midnight Curry or 24 Hour Curry Aashiyana. Would something healthy and delicious be too much to ask for from the conceited members of our city council? If the answer is yes then a full Burqa and designer COVID-19 mask store where you can sew your own designer masks, that would be most excellent. But they will most likely put in a doughnut/(fat pill) shop or another cell phone store. I, much rather see a Moby Chicks or Moby Dick’s for the ladies or maybe NAAN Of The Above.

Dhanyavaad for your consideration.

Duck/ बत्तख , नीम हकीम, नीम हकीम.

Cumin Go sounds like a catchy brothel name.

Well, that was an interesting read. Just so we’re clear, you’re advocating for a city-owned health food store?

Somebody likes curry.

Somebody likes curry. So do I…it is good stuff.

Guess Whole Foods gets to dictate to the entire complex. SAD. I will not shop at Whole Foods as their prices are way to high to begin with.

A Kebob Shop would be nice.

Bad location. You can’t see it from Ygnacio and there is no drive-thru, which violates the primary requirement of fast food: it must have a drive-thru. I’ll drive around for 15 minutes to get a spot for dinner at Rocco’s, but I won’t spend more than a minute on a Taco Bell.

Awwww mannnnm … no more late night green burritos with cheese … Dang #joedirtvoice
