The Contra Costa County Public Works Department will soon begin construction of the Walnut Creek Crosswalk Improvements Project.
Construction will begin on Monday, June 22 and is anticipated to be completed on August 14, 2020. Construction will take place Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 am – 5:00 pm with restrictions to minimize impacts during commute hours.
Drivers could expect up to 15 minute delays during road work.
The work to be done generally consists of installing flashing beacons at two crosswalk locations in unincorporated Walnut Creek; at the intersection of Olympic Blvd and Bridgefield Road (Site 1) and the intersection of Walden Road and Westcliffe Lane (Site 2).
Work at both locations includes installation of detectable warning surfaces at the ends of the crosswalks, trenching and installation of conduits, electrical cable, pull boxes and electrical service pedestals.
Fix Bailey Road and Willow Pass Road!
Priorities a la the mayor. Meanwhile the homeless crap on our WC city streets bc police can’t arrest them.
Both of these sites are not within the City of WC, but in unincorporated WC, so they are County projects. The change on Westcliffe is needed as so many trail users bomb right thru the “Stop” sign that is posted on the IHT.
And people drive like maniacs thru that stretch – someone will be hurt badly.
