No loss. I’ve been drinking that swill on and off for 25 years, but at this point I can barely stand it. The quality is crap. States is Martinez is infinitely better. Starbucks is like Prohibition-Era booze. You can only stomach it mixed in a cocktail. States is like a single malt scotch. You don’t mix it. States taste great black. And no, I don’t own the place.
Is Legal Grounds still in business in Martinez? That was my favorite spot to catch a cuppa and get my documents in order before my numerous in propria persona appearances in court.
@Bad Nombre Legal Grounds is out of business, but there’s a new coffee place in that same location called Barrelista. They have a coffee joint in front and a cocktail bar in back called Barrel Aged Cocktail Bar.

These closures represent lost jobs! Not sure how people can be so dismissive of that fact!

Starbucks has over 31,000 stores world wide. Closing 400 stores is small change to them. Now if Starbucks was serving cocktail drinks during this lock down they would probably want to open 400 new stores.
Yeah all the trendies and guppies go there for their soy lattes I say good riddance and the people that work at those places are just as bad!!! Have fun finding an new job!!! CRY ME A RIVER!!!
I think it depends which location you frequent. I did not see any hippies, when I went to the Starbuck at Stanford Shopping Center, Palo Alto, where I worked for years.
And before you that lot was a Starbucks, and before that an empty lot, the Shell station there was my go to fuel station. I was sad when it shut down. As I recall, it was even shady so there must have been trees. Anyone else remember that station?
It was a Union station, owned by Paul Galli and Ed (sorry, can’t remember their last names). They previously had a station on the edge of Clayton Valley Highlands Shopping Center. Truly fine men (as well as knowing their auto repair)!
We’ve all left out its use as a free-for-all for oversized political signs and other unsightly rubbish, plus being a Christmas tree lot!

Good, see ya. Don’t like their politics. Nike, Ben and Jerrys can do the same.
What does politics have to do with coffee? At least they give their workers good benefits, and pay a decent hourly wages.
Do you prefer Walmart politics who don’t pay enough so their workers have to apply for food stamps, which the taxpayer ends up paying for. Then same workers use their food stamps back at Walmart. I have nothing against Walmart, but only been there a few times, it is just to big and overwhelming.
Like no one saw this coming?? Of course they will close locations, but they already had too many before the mass-detention of law-abiding citizens. Their politics made me switch coffee years ago. I would LMAO if they moved their headquarters out of Seattle.
Not to mention their coffee has declined ever since that old bat burned her lap many years ago.. It’s now lukewarm and flavorless. not worth the price or dealing with clueless workers that don’t even drink coffee.
It’s been a few years now, but the last few I visited were awfully unkempt.
They had a nice little lunch of grapes, cheese, an egg, peanut butter, and crackers.
That and a White tea ice tea was a nice little lunch, albeit a bit expensive.

read another article on this… Closing 400 due to public’s change in purchasing habits. “OPENING” 300 new drive-thru style only places… Gonna challenge Dutch Brother’s Coffee..
Having tens of thousands of cars slowly drive thru Starbucks drive thru locations every day will only hurt climate change. This should never been approved. Someone is getting paid off.

What a bummer. Very consistent latte from store to store. That will affect a lot of workers who got good benefits from Starbucks. But I guess the snobs on claycord don’t care about others…just their cup of coffee.
@Clayton
Some of us snobs care. I don’t like to see folks lose their jobs and I’d bet that most of the other snobs on Claycord agree. I also agree with most of Claycord that their coffee just isn’t that great.
I’m surprised to see how personal some comments get. Most of the people that work at Starbucks are younger, majority probably go to school. Not sure it is snobbery, it seems more political, however seems a lot of people are making judgement based on what the think Starbucks politics are, and how people are dressed. I for one like to see young people work, it is good for them and the economy.

Three of there stores were open in Concord within eyes view of small drive through coffee shops, Clayton Road, Treat Blvd and Monument Blvd. All three drive throughs went out of business. How sad a company as large as Starbucks feels the need to eliminate such a small threat of those small businesses. As far as I am concerned it would not bother me one bit if Starbucks was to suffer the same fate.

I prefer Peet’s, but sometimes Starbucks is convenient when you need caffeine, especially when you are out and about. Remember what being out and about was like?
BTW we walked past a Starbucks in Bergen Norway and Edinburgh Scotland and have been to the one in Trump Tower in Manhattan.

I stop going to Starbucks years ago. Was tired of paying $6 for a mocha that wasn’t consistent. Some days it was good and some day bad.

There quality has slipped greatly over the years. Since discovering one at the Pike Place Market in Seattle about 1973, I have enjoyed there coffee. But the quality has change so much I can’t drink it anymore. I tried once a month or so but they just are average. Probably will not miss them…if they close one in our area…add to that, they started to get political and had enough already.

Off the top of my head, I can think of the one at Treat and North Main, which is less than half a mile away from the one on Treat and Sunne Lane, which is about a mile away from the one in Countrywood at Treat and Bancroft, which is in the same shopping center as the one in the Countrywood Safeway. They closed the one that used to be at Treat and Oak Grove when the Treat and Clayton drive thru (which is catty corner from the one inside the Denkinger Safeway on the other side of the street) opened. It probably wouldn’t be a terrible idea to thin out their numbers.

I’m not a regular coffee drinker, and I don’t like it too strong, so either I add a lot of milk or I get a latte. Since I work retail and often late, at times late afternoon I need a pick me up. At SunValley Mall Starbucks is right across from my work. I find the staff accommodating, when I order a regular coffee, I ask for a small in a medium cup, so I can add more milk. Other establishment will charge you for the medium based on cup size. Starbucks also have several snacks that I can have on my low carb diet. So when everything is said and done, I like them.

So, let’s see.. that’s 400 stores, so that’s about 40 square city blocks since there is about 10 Starbucks per block…
Good riddance!
My very thoughts.

Same could be said of Seattle, or CHAZ, the autonomous zone in the center of that leftist dumpster dive of a city.

I hope one of them is the one on Treat and Clayton. It causes traffic hazards. Should be in a center, not on a corner of two major streets.
That was my first thought!
@Senior
It’s doubtful that will be one of them, as they relocated it for a drive-thru.
The dirty empty lot with eucalyptus trees was better than Starbucks.
And before you that lot was a Starbucks, and before that an empty lot, the Shell station there was my go to fuel station. I was sad when it shut down. As I recall, it was even shady so there must have been trees. Anyone else remember that station?

Dutch Bros is soooooo much better.:) Starbucks has a bitter after taste. We don’t buy coffee out much but when we do it is NOT Starbucks
Dee, Agreed
What’s a ” starbucks”/
No loss, me no like; I call them StarYucks! And they won’t get my dollars.
The news said for each closed store they would be opening a new drive thru/take out store to fit the new way people are buying from them.
Good, we don’t need them on every single corner & in every single Safeway thats across from the local Starbucks
I head they were opening 300 drive through locations.
The drive through won’t be too popular with the homeless.
