Any place up in the Sierras that is away from people and quite.

Cambria, Claifornia. Four hours from the Bay and four hours from LA.

Other than that, any place out of this state.

Agreed on Cambria!
But I do think Mendocino Village has a similar aura and beautiful location…. no?

Why would I tell YOU?!

Monterey / Carmel / Santa Barbara

My dad had a condo on Monterey
I used to live in Santa Barbara.

Pretty much all town on the beach had band Airbnb in California

At this point, anything more exciting than checking the mail will do. Probably Carmel.

Harris Ranch Inn

Shelter Cove – Humboldt County.

Great fishing there too!

Right now, we are not allowed to take a mini vacation for non essential.

Right now,my favorite mini vacation is my own home lay on the hammock everyday

Other than being SIP before this happen I always like to go to Westport, CA My family own a cabin there and we had the cabin since 1940 built by my great grandpa

I’m a member of the Scandinavian Club, we own 2 cabins, one in Tahoe, open all year, one at Clear Lake open from mid May to October, so it makes for an easy get away, although we have to make reservations. In Tahoe, we bring our own food, or go grocery shopping there and then cook. At times we might go as a group, 10-12 people, everyone brings something or cook. At Clear Lake we bring tent and sleep on the lawn, 3 meal are provided on Saturday and 2 on Sunday, although we all take turns in the kitchen. It makes for a very relaxing week end, away from everything (especially before cell phones), week end attendance anywhere from 20 to over 100, some week ends quiet, others party week ends.

Other favorite get away Yosemite, the Gold Country, Carmel, and Pajaro Dunes, by Watsonville.

Gee Hanne, I have 0.4% Scandinavian DNA. Do you think I could get into the club?

Maybe get a diary if you are needing to share

Pismo Beach or Bodega Bay come to mind. But lately I’m thinking someplace outside of California because I no longer recognize or feel comfortable here. And no, Xi coronavirus isn’t the reason.

Amazing that Los Angeles, with their 40,000 cases, can open restaurants and retail, but Contra Costa, with about 1,234 cases still can’t.. Even SF is opening up on June 15th. What is wrong with the CC County Health Director and board of supervisors?

They are working as a block with the other Bay Area Counties. And it looks like Contra Costa is the follower, not the leader. So, San Francisco rules.

I would suggest that the BOS aren’t working as a block, they are working blockheads.

Tahoe

Carmel or Pacific Grove.

Oh, YES for Carmel definitely! Have you and your family taken the fascinating tour of the poet’s home? (cannot EVER remember his name…. sorry)

We never have toured the home. We’ve been to Carmel and Pacific Grove dozens of times though. We’ve been members of the Monterey Bay Aquarium for several years and I go to Laguna Seca Raceway at least twice most years. One of our favorite places is all along Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove.

Yes! Agree that Asilomar and area is glorious,

In California, we used to love the Elk Cove Inn in Mendocino County.
In Tennessee, it’s the Smoky Mountains.

Reminds me I use to go camping with a group up by Jenner. We brought tents and many went abalone diving, then at night everyone had a different recipe for abalone, delicious. After dinner we would sit around the campfire and enjoy some beverages, wine, mixed drinks whatever. Great time, and loved going to sleep by the sound of the waves hitting the coast.

My aunt once took me for a drive to some mountains in North Georgia and I was mesmerized by looking out at the beautiful view of the Smoky Mountains. I’d never even seen a picture of them, I didn’t know I’d be seeing them, but it was obvious that they had to be the Smokies. I’d have really liked to have had a closer look. A funny thing happened on the way to the Georgia mountains. It was supposed to take us about five hours to Dahlonega, Ga., and after a four and a half hour ride straining my eyes to catch sight of any distant mountains in the direction we were headed, all I could see for at least a hundred miles were gently rolling hills. By then I had to say, “But where are the mountains?” She gave me a surprised look, and said “Where are the mountains?? Look out the window! You’re in the mountains!” I said, “These are the mountains?” “Yes!!” she said. Then we both realized what the trouble was. Being from California, I’d never seen tired old worn out mountains before. “Oh yeah, I guess you’re used to them looking a little bit different”, she said. I had no idea they were qualified for mountains.

Silva, the Appalachian chain of mountains even stretches up into the Gaspe Pennisula area of Canada. It is the second oldest mountain range in the whole WORLD!!! The lovely smoky effect is from humidity in the air.

The second oldest mountain range in the whole world?? Wow. That’s sure a lot of area to explore, Antler. If my husband ever hits a real jackpot we’re heading that direction. It would be very hard to miss those mountains, wouldn’t it! Now that I know what to look for, that is.

Mt. Diablo.

My recliner, TV on the left monitor and Claycord on the right monitor.

A dart throw away. Anywhere a tank of gas will get me, where I can set up the tent, Enjoy a fire, a few fingers of bourbon, and the stars.

At the is point the best getaway is anywhere outside of California.

No more sanctuary cities, no more infectious feces on BART, no more insanity
