The Contra Costa County coroner’s office has identified 40-year-old Concord resident Luis Rabanal as the man who died in a two-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate Highway 680 in San Ramon on Saturday night.

The crash was reported at about 8 p.m. Saturday about a quarter-mile north of the Bollinger Canyon Road off-ramp from southbound Highway 680, according to the California Highway Patrol.

One vehicle ended up in the far right traffic lane and the other ended up on the right-hand shoulder. Rabanal was trapped in one of the vehicles when CHP officers and paramedics arrived.

A GoFundMe page created to help Rabanal’s family had gathered nearly $17,000 as of Tuesday afternoon.
