It’s so sad to walk or drive around the area and see all of the closed businesses. Many of which will never reopen. 35 million unemployed across the country. This lockdown in CA needs to end NOW.

Call the COVID-19 Call Center at 1-844-729-8410 for any questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 practices, policy and orders. Make your voice heard.

When did flatten the curve become find a cure?
30 million unemployed is only the beginning of this. By the time this is over a lot more people will die from causes other than Covid than from a Covid itself.

I just read that Specialty’s restaurant is closing all of their locations permanently. I was sad, and surprised, to hear this since Specialty’s was so popular. It’s was a great place to get some Peet’s coffee and a breakfast sandwich or lunch. This stupid overkill reaction to the virus needs to end. Newsom won’t be happy until we’re all living in tents on the sidewalks.

@Bobfished, exactly. This is all aimed at keeping the economy in the crapper in hopes of removing President Trump from office. Anyone who cannot see this is blind.

Jamming up a health services phone line is not an appropriate way to vent your frustrations. I would hope that most people understand this and don’t follow “Chuckie’s Wife” statement. It is a phone line for people who either need to access medical information and services, or for people who wish to offer medical services. It is not a complaint line.

Hey Natalie, why don’t you step off and let people exercise their freedom of speech in an appropriate way. You statists are always trying to tell individuals what to do. Worry about yourself

Sam, it’s a HEALTH CARE information line, it’s not the direct line to county supervisors, and it’s not even the direct line to the head of the head department. If you want to harass the people at the top who make decisions, then call them at the proper phone numbers..

It’s not a complaint line. It’s not the appropriate number to call. It would be irresponsible to tie up a health care line. What if people are trying to call in for health information, and you have tied up the line because you want to yell at a health care worker. Odds are that your complaint won’t make it up the chain anyway, because it’s not the job of the person who answers the phone to take complaints.

– I’m not sure I understand your perspective. California’s electoral votes almost always go to the democratic candidate. I’m not sure I understand how tanking California’s economy will influence an election whe we almost never vote for a republican candidate.

@ Natalie – nowhere in my post did I suggest jamming the phone line. This is the phone line to call for any questions OR concerns. This is the answer I received when I sent them an email voicing my concerns. If you read my original post carefully, you will see that I’m stating exactly that. If people have concerns, that is where they should lodge them.

There are now just 177 active cases in this county that the county knows about anyway. I hope no one else goes bankrupt before we open everything up.

These tyrants are turning the people’s votes to the right!

If You Are Under Age 29 You Are More Likely to Drown than Die from Coronavirus, Even Though The Virus Has A 98% Survival rate.
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) there were 78 coronavirus deaths in the United State in the 0 to 29-year-old age group this year.
It is absolutely insane that Dr. Fauci and the CDC are pushing the notion that schools need to remain closed due to this virus.
Fauci’s coronavirus lockdown may go down as the most disastrous public health policy in US history.

We pay enormous amounts of money to live in California for the beach and the weather (which has become very extreme probably due to excessive gas exhaust) and the array of fun things to do at any given moment. All of which have not only been closed off to us for months but have also lost their allure. Will the cost of living change? Will traffic in fact get worse as most people abandon public transit? Quite frankly, as someone who has always avoided sickos on BART, had hand sanitizer on hand, pro-actively skipped the gym during flu season for at-home workouts to keep family members safe, and been depressed by the droves of ugly people who high five in class covered in sweat while hitting on each other and ready to make uglier babies, this has been a time of awakening. I’m not sure I’ll ever look at people the same again. The stupidity is infuriating. Step outside and look around. I see a bunch of morons flocking and crowding and standing one inch of each other, same morons who hoarded and caused more problems. Last night another local restaurant in Danville had its bar open with a party of 13 inside high-fiving without masks. Everyone is over it and they are returning to laxity. While all of this was in the news a local Walnut Creek steakhouse had sick employees tending bar. Nobody has ever been able to stop anybody from entering a building when they don’t feel well because they are self-centered and need to buy something, or get laid, or make moneyor whatever is motivating them to expose everyone else without regard. Should we look on the bright side things are changing? 110% of the CA population never washed their damn hands a day in their life. Yes, close all of the public restrooms to make this even worse. I’m curious who fantasizes about moving out of this overcrowded, increasingly unattractive blue state full of people primarily from other countries. Thanks, I feel better for getting this off my chest. And btw I’m tired of watching our Governor’s head bob up and down–he lifts up on his tip toes when he speaks, holding back anger with his public. Is he drinking again?

Take deep breaths – shut off the Tel-Lie-Vision – get outside.

@ SOS – Since you asked who has thought about moving out of this State ….. We have! We just had this discussion last week. One of my kids is thinking of moving and asked if we would ever consider going to another State with them. I have lived most of my life in the Bay Area and always loved it here. My husband was born in California and always seemed perfectly content here too. I thought about it for quite awhile then told my husband, “y’know, I think I would be willing to move out of California”. My husband is far from a tech guy, but he had his phone out to check Zillow’s Zestimate of our house value so fast my head was spinning. I never thought we would want to leave California but it has gotten really bad. The lockdown has made it worse and, I’m afraid, that everything I liked about it here will not be coming back. Maybe this will be the push we needed to move on.

I want to go back to Sunday mass. Tired of watching on internet or TV. Have to go to church parking lot drive-thru to receive holy communion. Seems so disrespectful, like driving thru for a burger or coffee. I pray every day for all those who have lost businesses or became unemployed (mine included) and for all the sick people. May God lift this curse from the face of the earth.

@America

Stop whining and complaining and thank the Lord for all you do have…

Any word on when our economy will recover? Will we be able to recover all of our U.S.Constitutional rights, or will they also be a victim of Xi coronavirus?

Glad you feel better. Yes, the world is full of people who are less than courteous, and in some cases hygiene challenged. I like to think that some of them woke up during the past couple of months.

Then I read this morning up in Butte county their numbers are low, they are petitioning to open CSU Chico. However a citizen up their went in for a Coronavirus test, then went to church with 180 others. The day after church they received their positive test results. If this is true…..wow.

If our Governor seems agitated it’s because he can feel votes shifting to the right.

He’s got bigger problems on Votes, you don’t piss off SoCal and expect to get Reelected. Don’t think the LA folks don’t see the threats to Indian Casinos, threats to Beach Goers, and the economic cost to the South Land. Being from LA, there is an under current that SF Politicians don’t understand LA

Just a heads up, the mayor of LA is the one extending the stay at home order, not the governor.

The numbers aren’t accurate anywhere in the world. Too many inconsistencies. What’s the real agenda here?

Not sure the agenda but it’s definitely not helping any Democrats… like at all. I think you will have a Trump in office for the next 20 years. And watch California turn red like it’s supposed to be

I hope so@Sam. Scary to think what it would be like if he wasn’t in office right now and Hilary was. But then maybe this wouldn’t be going on right now if she was (one of my theories).

So what is it you would like to see happen? You basically just called everyone a moron. You realize other states are wide open without any issue. Gavin bounces every time he lies.

Other states are open without any issues??? You do understand States are just now reopening??? Give it a few weeks and then come back and say that again.

You give it a few weeks, and when your wrong I’ll expect you to come to claycord and say you were wrong and Trump was right

Don’t worry, I will. But I know from you reading what you write. You don’t take kindly to being wrong.

Russian collusion? Failed

Stormy Daniels? Failed

Ukraine? Failed

Russian Collusion II? Failed

Scorched earth response to a 98%+ survivable virus? Not looking good

The Dems don’t care what the cost, it’s about beating Trump. This stopped being about a virus weeks ago for anyone paying attention.

@Bob, you nailed it.

If that’s the case, why are republican governors also slow to open their states?

dan your type of misinformation is dangerous, but I defined you right to say whatever you want. I think you should lay off the koolaid buddy. The rest of the world is open. Italy just issued a warrant for your buddy for crimes against humanity. Your house of cards fell years ago and you still haven’t figured it out.

I’m so sick of this SCAM!!!

It can be said with confidence because it’s a scam. I call it MIMI-19 which stands for MEDIA INDUCED MENTAL ILLNESS

Stop being obtuse. You know exactly what he means.

Let’s not confuse how awful and opportunistic Gavin Newsom is (very) with whether the virus is real and serious (it is). Politicians are politicking and we need to push back, but this isn’t all just about US politics: there have been shutdowns all over the world. And even where they didn’t lock down so hard there are still restrictions (Sweden) or a ton of tests/isolating the infected (Austria, NZ, South Korea, etc.).

We will be better off if we focus our energy on pushing for smart re-opening and faster movement on re-opening low risk activities. There’s no point and no political sense in denying that the virus is capable of killing a lot of people. We need to push for a more sustainable and less tyrranical approach, though.

Well said!

A very sensible and reasonable statement. Unfortunately, it appears most of our society has become wildly polarized and unreasonable, particularly the politicians in charge. You’d have my vote, regardless of political party…

Call me obtuse but I’m not sure what Eric Trump means. I feel sad that trump is politicizing this simply because he is an inept leader.

You’re obtuse. Trump has done such a good job. Democrats will never get power again

Here is a question that I do not believe can be answered, I went by Best Buy and they were closed as the County has shut them down, how can the County begin jury duty and yet close Best Buy. How can 50 people (not the court room, but the court house) all in one room be safe yet Best buy which rarely has 50 people in there and being a much larger space be unsafe? If I was to get selected I would say, hey, if Best Buy would be unsafe then jury duty would be more so.

Best Buy is open for curbside purchases. I know, because I picked up two items this past week from Best Buy.

You think Trump is the one politicizing this? He’s just calling out Democrats for doing everything in their power to make sure the economy doesn’t recover before the election.

Governor of Tennessee Bill Lee is beginning next week, in 89 out of 95 counties, reopening theaters and amusement parks and is lifting capacity restrictions on restaurants and shops.

Governor Lee is a republican.

An newsom is angling for a bailout from federal government as people wonder if their small business job will still exist when newsom finally opens CA back up.

More damage to economy, more they will use it against Trump in NOvember.

14 CA counties have had ZERO deaths, why are those counties not open ?

All lies. Gavin Newsom is the reason California will be a Republican state as it should be. We will quarantine all you blue hairs back to Berkeley to wallow in your filth where you belong. You will never recover from this disaster you created. We gave you a chance and Obama pushed things way to far, now your gonna find out just how much Americans hates the Marxist garbage.
On a side note, thank you. Finally my democrat friends have woken up to all the drama and propaganda..everyone I know loves Trump now.. funny you guys just can’t do anything right

So the sheep live in fear till November

I defy anyone to call me a sheep just because I disagree with you. Don’t know about living in fear, I don’t live in fear, I go to the grocery store, I wear a mask I take walks, I use a lot of hand sanitizer and wash my hands a lot. I have never had the flu, have not had a cold in over 10 years, I never worried about SARS or MERS, this seems more contagious and some that get it, even if the recover has horrible side effects. I’m older and I hate being sick, so I’m careful. I don’t really listen to the politician, but prefer to listen to doctors and scientists.

So Sam, you spend your stimulus check yet?

Did you save Trump’s letter?

Congress gave the American people that money, not Trump. But he’s a glory hog. Always has been and always will be.

No I did not spend a dime of that blood money from congress. Didn’t want or need a stimulus. I actually dumped it into Trumps campaign..Or should I say you did.

So, Sam, you DID spend it … on Trump’s campaign. Jeez …

I technically didn’t spend it, I invested it

Is that all you got? Wait for the death certificate audit

Fox is owned by Disney. Not the best source for info. Definitely better then cnn or nbc. Sounds like your moving up in the world..keep going you’ll make it

The only reason the governors, both democrat and republican are behaving in the way they are is because there has been no coordinated national response. Sad but true.

Keep crying dan. What’s the problem I thought governors were well..governors. If they can’t run their state effectively maybe they should step down. They asked for this job. It’s not the presidents job to manage each state. That’s a concept from your central planners handbook. They better figure it out without big daddy’s help or suffer the consequences of angry voters..it’s fantastic if you ask me..all the incompetence on full display

The latest poll gives Newsom a 79 percent approval rating for his handling of the crisis. The recall attempt failed miserably, and Obama left office two years before Newsom even became governor, so don’t hold your breath …

as of 05/17:

1,146 confirmed cases (CCC) with 33 deaths = a 2.88% death rate.

Kauai Mike, death rate of 2.88% is far from accurate as there are many cases that were not reported and there has not been much testing. If the numbers of those who are positive with little or no symptoms was to be factored in then that death rate would drop below 1%.

He must be doing it on purpose. Several of us have tried to point out the issue. I just hope most people are able to realize it’s not a particularly meaningful number at this point, given the lack of widespread testing and that we are generally probably testing only the sickest people. As the amount of testing has minimally crept up, his number has been creeping down. Probably, until it falls well below 1%, just like you said.

I’m sure they will find some additional cases Pat, but for every case they find, they could very well find more miscategorized cases that inflated the number in the first place.

For example, Colorado is going back and reviewing what was categorized as a Covid death now. As they look into it, the numbers are dropping by quite a bit. As an example, one subject clearly died from alcohol poisoning, and his blood alcohol level was twice the lethal limit. But, he coincidentally tested positive for Covid. So his cause of death was determined to be Covid by the health department, despite the coroner conducting the autopsy telling them it clearly wasn’t. So far, Colorado has found 300 cases like this, that were inflating the actual number by about 34%. They may go back and find some legitimate previously unknown cases to add, but it appears to be the opposite problem at this point. It seems unlikely that this would only happen in Colorado. Good or bad, we need accurate numbers.
