Is this the zombie apocalypse we feared? The death count is going down! Are some of the corpses reanimating?!

Resurrection from the dead? Easter was a few weeks ago.

Still two more weeks of Easter, bro. Pentecost is two Sundays away. #droppingthatcatholicknowledgebomb

How can the number of deaths go down? Are dead people coming back to life?

Death count goes down? That reminds me of the Monte Python scene where the guy says “I’m not dead yet” and then gets conked on the head.

Seriously, the entire process of counting and attributing Xi coronavirus deaths is fraught with error, and with a monetary incentive to over-attribute, fraud against Medicare, Medicaid and private insurers. But I doubt anyone will ever be prosecuted for these crimes.

How about putting the recovery numbers up. These numbers aren’t even accurate how is it that bethel island still at 1 for a month and half now.

But studies show, we’re going to have a second wave… I’m thinking right when flu season hits, so they can count flu deaths as covid-19 deaths.

Regarding the opening of the economy…just for discussion sake…
Would like to hear opinions:

Imagine if there was a condition (just play along with me), that restricted everyone from driving, and so we all stopped driving everything. We’d immediately save like 40k lives a year, right?

And once conditions changed, and we began to “phase in” our driving once again, and what point would we call it *safe*?

People that claim “if we just save one single life” are not living in reality, IMO. Flying, automobiles, power tools, swimming pools, knives etc. are responsible for thousands of deaths every single year. But we still accept, use and own them.

But there is a balance that must be reached, and “zero” deaths should not be the goal when stopping our huge economy…which has immeasurable consequences.

Reasonable measures must be taken, sure. But by virtue of everyone living in the US of A, and driving or owning a swimming pool, we have ACCEPTED the risk involved, and are unwillingly okay with it…the death rates then receive “everyone’s approval”, like it or not…

ZZ May 10, 2020 - 6:21 PM - 6:21 PM

When something new comes along in society people get scared of the unknown and then gradually accept it as part of life. The seasonal flu is accepted as a probable killer. SARS is accepted as a probable killer. Etc. Etc. We stay as healthy as we can and pray for the best outcome. Learn ways to survive with it.
This time around, with something new, it has been totally spun out of control. Shutting down countries? People losing their livelihoods? Why the intense fear? The numbers in comparison to other types of deaths are comparable. Some numbers higher than this virus.
There’s an agenda of some sort occurring. And it isn’t a good one.

Common sense is not allowed in these parts. In all seriousness everything will go back to normal on Wednesday November 4th. OMB

Good luck with that H.R. 6666, you all thought this was conspiracy theory. Won’t be when they come knocking on your doors. Hopefully you do not incriminate yourselves.

The accounting on Xi coronavirus infections is so corrupt it would make Al Capone blush. I’d love to read what an honest expert in statistics would say?

Frustrated May 10, 2020 - 6:26 PM - 6:26 PM

Was yesterday’s death count an error then?

adam May 10, 2020 - 6:38 PM - 6:38 PM

In Ohio, they tested every inmate in a prison, and out of 3200 prisoners, 96% were asymptomatic!! That is the case almost everywhere! Now the county is offering testing to everyone, and as a result there will be sharp increase in number of positives, which they will use as an excuse to keep everything closed!! The only numbers that matter are the number of hospitalization, and deaths.

dan May 11, 2020 - 7:08 AM - 7:08 AM

you indicate that 96% were asymptomatic. Did you mean to say that 96% of the inmates tested negative for the virus? Those are two very different things. One study out of the Navy and a second from the prison system both indicate that 60% of the cases that test positive are asymptomatic.

Sam May 11, 2020 - 10:02 AM - 10:02 AM

Your on a roll today Dan.

dan May 11, 2020 - 11:33 AM - 11:33 AM

@Sam – thank you for your astute contributions.

Dan May 10, 2020 - 8:35 PM - 8:35 PM

I’m curious why their ethnicity is such a prominent part of your narrative. The issue seems to be the lack of compliance with masks not their ethnicity.

Anonymous May 10, 2020 - 10:34 PM - 10:34 PM

Because store owners are afraid of black people they are the ones always making trouble anywhere, that’s a fact, nothing to do with racism. Is like speaking about immigrants automatically you brain think is a mexican right?

Gittyup May 10, 2020 - 11:00 PM - 11:00 PM

@Dan It has been reported that the African American community has experienced greater numbers of infections with the coronavirus and significantly worse outcomes. Perhaps that they appear not to be wearing masks may help to explain why.

Susan Ingram May 11, 2020 - 12:25 AM - 12:25 AM

Interestingly enough I have seen the exact same behavior at the Pleasant Hill Safeway. People come in wearing the mask to gain entrance and then have them around their necks while shopping. I have seen this in the Concord store on Clayton Rd as well. Interestingly enough the offenders were white. Maybe it is a case of feeling like the rules don’t apply to you in both scenarios. Maybe feeling a bit of privilege as well.

Gittyup – it is because they have higher rates of chronic illness: diabetes; heart disease etc. This is due to a number of factors which you would not believe if I stated them.

Anonymous – That is the most blatantly prejudicial comment I have heard from you, and yours is a long history. My brain doesn’t automatically think that at all. PS… There is a difference between race & ethnicity. Race is a social category that has been made up by people, there is no genetic material that defines your race. Ethnicity is the cultural group or groups you identify with… try asking a Salvadoran where in Mexico they are from if you don’t believe me.

Kauai Mike May 11, 2020 - 4:00 AM - 4:00 AM

as of 05/10:

1,048 confirmed cases (CCC) with 31 deaths = 2.96% death rate

Dan May 11, 2020 - 7:06 AM - 7:06 AM

Are Latino, Caucasian and Asian populations all 100% in compliance with the statewide mask policy? Is it just the African American population that is struggling? My guess is probably not and this is thinly vailed racism.

Sam May 11, 2020 - 10:10 AM - 10:10 AM

“Thinly veiled racism” What a weak argument. Needles n threads all day
