A growing network of local, independent musicians are launching a virtual concert event that will be streamed on Facebook tonight at 8 p.m.

The premiere event, entitled “Concord Couch Concerts Episode 1,” will be a fundraising effort for the recently established Concord Community Foundations.

Concord Couch Concerts (CCC) founder Dave Hughes has assembled a team of musicians and volunteer organizers that have assembled a two-hour concert extravaganza showcasing 12 Concord-centric performances from the artists’ homes.

“Concord’s incredible music scene is unfortunately the city’s best kept secret. Most people who live here are familiar with the rich music history and culture of our city, but simply aren’t aware of some of the active talent here and the exciting energy around it. There’s an abundance of bands, songwriters, performers, and recording artists right here in our backyard,” Hughes said.

“Shelter-in-place affords us a unique opportunity to showcase that talent, and to bring everything to the audience, in their homes all across Concord and beyond. Of course, not all of Concord’s residents have a couch to enjoy the show from, so we couldn’t help but think of those in need most in during this COVID-19 moment. We’re hoping to not only create more exposure for these artists – many of whom are currently out of work – but to also help with the city-wide effort to raise funds to help Concord most vulnerable folks,” according to Hughes.

Performances will include members from local groups The Breedloves, Radiokeys, theUnOriginals, Sabertooth Unicorn, Painted Wind, My Evergreen Soul, and more.

This sounds like fun. I’m sad that the Music & Market series (in Todos Santos) probably will not happen this Summer. Maybe this can take its’ place, temporarily.

No mention of Concord’s own grammy nominated Death Angel?

Looking forward to discovering some musicians that I have not heard before. Should be a fun evening!

Thanks for the bump, Claycord! Looking forward to tonight’s show as well us our next one in 2 weeks.
