Has anyone gone through the testing process or know how it’s being done through different health plans…. I’ve heard some people have passed away because they were denied a test

Jojo Potato April 16, 2020 - 1:13 PM - 1:13 PM

Actually, Steven they died because they had the virus. The test doesn’t provide any protection, it’s just an indicator. You could call up your health plan and ask about the test. Try that.

Steven Powers April 16, 2020 - 7:53 PM - 7:53 PM

Jojo Potato , I realize the test does not help sick people. My question is why is it so hard to get tested. I was wondering if anyone had a test and how hard was it to get tested

I still question the accuracy of these numbers. Danville had 23 yesterday and 22 today. This is the second time I’ve noticed Danville’s number go down.
Has anyone else noticed any other numbers drop? I have not put the lists side by side to compare them, just something that caught my eye.

I don’t know for certain, however, the number may have gone down because of a death? Which would be sad. But, I’m not sure how the county is counting the cases so this is just speculation on my part.

Pleasant Hill and Orinda numbers are high because of the nursing home clusters. I am glad to see the numbers at such a low level of growth compared to other places in the country that waited too long for lockdowns.

Ricardoh April 16, 2020 - 1:07 PM - 1:07 PM

How would you like to be sitting in a nursing home right now. What a fargin mess.

Mike Wagner April 16, 2020 - 1:42 PM - 1:42 PM

The coronavirus testing in this country is a total joke.

So far, only 3 million tests have been conducted which is a puny 1% of the nation’s population. There are major hospitals in the Los Angeles area that barely have any nasal swabs, let alone media kits to transport the swabs in. One hospital had 15 a day. Another had 100.

Total Failure by the Fed’s and their Covid-19 Task Force.

parent April 16, 2020 - 9:27 PM - 9:27 PM

Don’t worry Mike, they do not need a test to claim you died from COVID-19. If they suspect it, they will claim it so they can artificially inflate the mortality percentage. If they tested everyone, the mortality rate percentage would drop, and then the media and our leaders could not scare us so much.

Check out this article on the New York Post. https://nypost.com/2020/04/07/feds-classify-all-coronavirus-patient-deaths-as-covid-19-deaths/

Totally agree Mike. The state and federal government should stay out of the healthcare industry. Power to the people.

Mike Wagner April 16, 2020 - 3:24 PM - 3:24 PM

The problem is, there are supply chain issues such as the fact that the #1 supplier of nasal swabs and the media kits that transport them is located in (wait for it… wait for it….) NORTHERN ITALY.

Our Labs in the United States are highly de-centralized. They only can see the market place that is directly in front of them. Long ago, Pence’s Task Force should have had a centralized command and control center where supply and demand was matched up between lab capacity (supply) and patients need to test (demand).

The Federal Task Force dropped the ball.

They’ve been clueless.

So easy for people who are retired or dont need to work to say let’s keep the shut down going as others are losing their business and jobs or starving Keeping the country closed will kill more then the virus sad

Epidemiologist continue to warn that cases will spike as soon as restrictions are lifted, no longer how long we are under house arrest. This means that we are destroying our wealth (businesses, education, assets, mental health, etc…) for no good reason. Does anyone really think we can keep this up for 2 years while we wait for a vaccine to be developed, tested and then mass-produced?

Gary Freedman April 16, 2020 - 4:02 PM - 4:02 PM

Why don’t headlines and people focus on the fact that our county only has 37 people in the hospital. In an entire county

bobfished April 16, 2020 - 5:45 PM - 5:45 PM

The government doesn’t want us to focus on the wrong numbers. Then we wouldn’t be as scared as they want us to be. If we’re not scared enough we won’t follow their orders.

parent April 16, 2020 - 9:29 PM - 9:29 PM

Or the fact that almost 60K have recovered in the US alone?

Colin April 16, 2020 - 4:09 PM - 4:09 PM

Does anyone know if any of the 55+ residential communities in Brentwood have virus infected patients.
