Perhaps the larger number from yesterday (48) was anomalous and the lower numbers we’ve been seeing in recent days are more indicative of the direction this health crisis is headed.

Concord has a larger number of cases, but we have a greater population. Our known infection percentage is lower than places like Alamo, Orinda, and other cities.

Ultimately though, these statistics are a small piece of the picture; we need to get a a point where the average person has access to testing. In the meantime, people need to be vigilant and do their reasonable best to follow the health recommendations.

Can the city of Concord assign someone to attend to the homeless downtown Concord and inform them about social distancing and give them gloves and a mask please.

Gloves are meant to be used a short time only; they would have to give them 100 or so, which is not gping to happen. Same with masks, and they have no place to wash them.

As for social distancing, forget about it. They have nothing to do all day, especially with everything closed. They need to sit and talk to pass time.

Maybe they need to be put up in hotel rooms.

Be thankful that you have a Governor that took this virus seriously and that you don’t live in Florida where the Governor there (DeSantis) kept the beaches, hotels, and restaurants open until April 3rd.

Florida now has over 22,000 infection cases and nearly 600 deaths.

Compare that to California which has 2.4 times the population and 25,900 cases and 804 deaths.

Yes Mike, we are fortunate to have a Governor with foresight.
New York started a week after we did and now they have almost 11,000 deaths due to Covid-19.

Mike
You’re so obvious and funny. Your obvious choice would have been Cuomo the governor and De Blasio the mayor but you went for a Republican who has less than a tenth of the problem New York has, Keep up the good work they are noticing you at the DNC.

Wagner I’m thankful that Newsom likely won’t get re-elected because of this.

I have not heard if there are any homeless who are infected with the virus maybe this because of them being outdoors and soaking in the rays I read uv rays can be helpful

Ann – read that article one more time.

GittyUp, From what I have read and heard Newsom’s approval ratings are up. This is what happens when you only seek information that already confirms your preconceived ideas!!

mick looks like the experts have different options read it again

From the article:

Can I disinfect my stuff with UV from sunlight?

“If we have time on our hands, sunlight is wonderful,” Malley said. But “it takes a long time.”

Like, a really long time. For the amount of time it would take, you’re probably better off putting a mask in a brown paper bag and hanging it off a well-aerated porch for seven days or so, Malley said. By then, the pathogen ought to be dead anyway.

sunlight is totally impractical in this capacity.

Wow.

Someone is actually comparing Florida which has 353 people per square mile with that of NYC which has over 10,000 people per square mile.

Amazing!

There have been quite a few news articles that compare New York city to California that ignore the population density issue. Another issue is that nearly all buildings in California are very new compared to New York. Other than a few sub-divided Victorians in San Francisco we don’t have tenement apartments with shared stairways much less shared bathrooms that you find in New York. The 1906 earthquake plus fire also helped a lot as it destroyed nearly all of the older buildings.

@4th Generation CCC

I lived in NYC for 10 years.

Please tell me you aren’t comparing NYC where there are OVER 10,000 people per square mile with that of California at 251 people per square mile.

Wagner
I do realize that NYC has a much denser population and almost everyone rides those crowded subways. They also started a whole week after we did with the shelter in place. The more rural States don’t have as many cases due to the amount of people per square mile as you would say. And now New York has 15,000 deaths. My point is this is a very contagious deadly disease and some people are not taking this serious.

I’m still waiting for ‘The First Wave’.

Me too Mongoose!
