Sixty one cases and one dead and I am not complaining there are not enough dead.
Today the government has given it’s blessing to the treatment the president has been touting and the heads of our medical government institutions have been saying Trump doesn’t know what he is talking about. Specifically Dr Fauci.

This is incorrect. Chloroquine and remdesivir are being used in clinical trials. They have not been approved as treatments because there’s no properly-controlled data indicating their efficacy. Clinical trials are necessary to establish that efficacy, which is exactly what Dr. Fauci called for.

@ ricardo
100% FALSE.

B That may explain why the feds just gave New York State hundreds of thousand doses to combat their problem. Trump wins again Fauci loses.

You are so wrong and why are you listening to him? He’s the moron that got us into this mess

Stop

You can disagree with everything slagheap,on Nov 4th,your disagree ment will mean even more of noithing and your delusional intentional unfounded comments are finished.I love how Trump gets under your skin and you fell that’s enough for him to get beaten by Biden..think about that logic,if you’re able to that is. Ask your mom,she should be within earshot of you after taking you off the street.

Yogurt, stop blaming the President for something he had nothing to do with. He didn’t invent the virus. He didn’t infect thousands of people in China with it, He didn’t make those people leave China spreading it worldwide. He’s doing everything humanly possible to deal with the situation.

Yep, Israel is donating 8 million hydroxchloroquine pills to the USA. Daniel Dea Kim from Hawaii 5-O said it healed him.

Yes, New York procured 750,000 doses of chloroquine to run a clinical trial that will help determine whether it’s an effective treatment. Note that this is _in order to determine its efficacy_, not _because it is effective_. Which is exactly what was being called for.

@ Yogurt

YOU are part of the problem. I did not vote forTrump but to insinuate that he caused this pandemic is just completely ridiculous! So many people that share your attitude would rather see him fail than succeed with the current events. That speaks volumes of your character! Regardless of who I voted for I would want ANY President to succeed in protecting us!

Again I ask:

Who has done more ?
Which world leader is accomplishing more than Trump?
What country has taken the initiative & is leading the way to a cure or spending more money to protect it’s citizens?
How did these other countries prevent Covid 19 from crossing their borders?
How is it done?

It’s easy to stand back & criticize and hindsight is 20/20 but I sure didn’t hear any of you or any other countries sounding the alarm and pointing out actions we should be taking back in January. I do recall left wingnuts calling Trump a racist for restricting air travel from China… that was a big help.

is there a reference for this?
What about the so called vaccine thats almost ready? It takes quite a bit of time to develop and test a vaccine. If there were one ready or just about we’d be hearing about it from various sources.

Ok, here we go.

I will ask these questions and Gitty or whoever, only answer the questions

Do not answer with another question and you will see why the leader of our country failed us in this moment of great need

1. What happened to the Pandemic Response team that was specifically made under Bush to handle these types of events?

2. What was the date of the first reports of this new virus and when did our intelligence agency warn our president that it was real and could cause massive problems for our country?

3. What was the first thing President Trump said publicly about the virus and when was that date?

4. When did our President start to take this seriously in his public statements?

5. On what date did he order companies to start making masks and tests on a massive scale?

6. During times like these, what do you expect from a president?

As a bonus question, why would the republicans want to loan corporations billions of dollars in bail out money and NOT want to report what companies got a slice of OUR money and where they spent it?

Only answer the questions first, then ask your questions and I will respond accordingly

Yogurt: Back to the Democrat tactics of 2015 where leftists wasted the conservatives time by trying to make them do massive amounts of research for them. And when the issues were properly addressed as mischaracterization, would just resurface the same lists days later. Maybe someone is bored here and will take on your lengthy questionnaire, but not me. I was re-rewatching last night scenes from a movie I like about the pilot Sulley Sullenberger landing his plane in the Hudson, specifically where he was testifying that computer simulations showed he could have made it back to the airport after the engines on the plane quit. He said the simulations were wrong because they did not include any human element of diagnosing the problem or leaving time to try to restart the engines and assumed the second the engines quit, he turned back to land. Actually, the whole scene is fake because they needed some drama for the movie and no educated person who understood what happened grilled that hero for his landing in the Hudson. You and other democrats seem to be creating that fake scene of comparing Trump’s actions to what a God with perfect foresight would have done at the first hint of a problem in China. Nice theater, but won’t win an election.

Pat, I can’t answer for Yogurt, but long ago I asked that of a fabulous poster (“Yhe Phantom”) who’s no longer with us, and he very eloquently answered me (and I’ll ever so lamely paraphrase here) that it was for the possible benefit of some other soul that he seemingly wasted his time having these pointless discussions. Perhaps another who was unaware of actual facts, and different ways of thinking besides what they had previously been exposed to. Made sense to me.

To do list,

So answer one question. Pick one and answer it.

You avoided it and called me a leftist.

I am not pushing progressive ideas, I am pushing safety and accountability.

Please note I have blamed our entire government sector. This is a massive failure on all levels.

It all starts with the man on top. Always. It doesn’t matter who is president, that person is the leader of our country and sets the tone for the world.

He lied about this pandemic, undermined our own resources and continues to put pettiness and corporations in front of protecting the citizens of this country.

And anyone who says he enforced a travel ban, take a look around, did that work?

Yogurt: As I said, I am not taking the bait on doing research for you. I do not know the answers to 1 – 5 without a Google search, and that ain’t gonna happen. For 6, I expect a president to attempt to marshal the resources to minimize the damage to the US, which he seems to be doing. That whole Woodward/Bernstein what did he know and when did he know it is intellectually vacant. I am more interested in what to do about this, such as that small clinical trial in France that used a combination of a malaria drug and antibiotic and got a 100% recovery rate after 6 days. Other places are trying it now also. If it works, it turns the Coronavirus into little more than a case of the flu. I get the impression you spend too much time listening to the NYTimes and CNN and WAPO. They are not your friends and their purpose is malice.

TDL,

It makes me laugh that you try to pepper your answer with insults and pretend that you are somehow intellectually superior because you don’t read what real journalists are reporting.

Why don’t you care about why we are here? You should be. Our elected leaders should be held accountable when they have information that could help protect us and they sit on it.

This is the biggest disaster in American history and we are still sitting around waiting for masks and ventilators and a cure…..

Yogurt: I am glad I brought some joy to your life. I did not pepper my comments with insults, they were all at the very end and directed at the media, and only the media. Real journalists as you call them don’t so much exist anymore. The writers now are trying to make the news and not report the news. I go to CNN website every day and I wish I had a dollar for how many times their stories were titled things like “Don Lemon’s reaction to…” or how he told some Republican to shut up in an interview or the reactions and such of their other spokesmen. They and the other leftist media make the story about their opinions, which is not “real journalism.”

It because people are NOT following the order of social distance outside or inside!!! People are So irresponsible!!!

I agree! I was just at Food Maxx, and people were just walking up to us all over. Stay away!

: Seriously? Why didn’t you move then when they walked up near you? It’s a grocery market. Hard to do social distancing in a grocery market.

I agree! I was shopping at Safeway (Denkinger) yesterday, and people are standing very close to each other in the isles and in the checkout line. And beware using the self checkout register, they are not sanitized on a regular basis.

It’s not likely you are going to get sick because a person walked by you in a narrow aisleway or stood too closely behind you in the check out line. Casual expiration, especially if one is breathing through the nose does not produce the droplet size nor the velocity to propel a shedding virus onto your person. Give people a break at the store and don’t be a quarantine warrior, let them pass by or move away from the items you are considering, so they can grab what they need and you get the space you need. Everyone is stressed and no one wants to get sick, people need to stop judging others about how proper they are practicing social distancing… it’s getting a bit overboard.

I don’t know what’s wrong with so many people. Why does it take more than one adult to go in the store? Why are people going in the store as a family? Can’t the one stay in the car with kids? About 75% of adults had another adult or youth old enough to wait in car with them. And most are getting just a few items. Not like they need assistance. Just another family oiting.

If we’re to go out for necessities I can’t see why so many capable looking adults need another adult with them when shopping. It just increases risk of spread. About 75% of shoppers were with another adult. Some went like it was a family outing with the kids. Just any ordinary day.

It’s like driving a car, when you move keep a distance. If someone is looking at an item you wait till the done . Then get what you want. Yes irresponsible. Called the social distance dance.

Keeping kids at home isn’t always a possibility, maybe stores can give families an extra hour in the mornings to shop so that kids aren’t a bother to other people. They can alternate with the senior and pre-existing condition days. Again, if you’re overwhelmingly scared of being in close proximity to another, however brief the interaction may be, get in the queue for delivery or curbside pickup. I am not scared of getting it from people breathing the same air as me, I’ll have already been exposed when my hand touched the shopping cart of a store that was visited by an infected person, I’ll already been exposed should I unfortunately check the ripeness of an avocado shortly after an infected person had done the same, so on and so forth. Social distancing does not mean you won’t get it, it is simply a means to slow down transmission by encouraging people not to go out into crowded public spaces anymore.

Sadly, these numbers are going to go up. Hopefully people can get the treatment quickly before it does anymore harm.
Social distancing non-existent around my area. Plenty of people in the local park near my home playing basketball with more than the limited group of 10. Parents not teaching their children the concept of social distancing at all.

Chinese, Australian and French researchers have demonstrated the effectiveness of Chloroquine, an inexpensive Malaria drug that has been widely used for decades in treating covid-19.

The FDA has allowed NY to test the drug on patients in NY in a deal cut with The NY governor and Trump.

This was announced in a news conference in NY by Governor Cuomo.

https://www.nydailynews.com/coronavirus/ny-coronavirus-testing-new-york-state-20200322-zvzog4p2yvh4bpvhbd5p5nxlly-story.html

If it is not coming true why are hospitals now buying it in bulk?

https://www.modernhealthcare.com/supply-chain/chloroquine-short-supply-hospitals-buy-bulk

The media is slow to swallow its hatred of Trump. He is not a virologist. Do not expect him to always be perfectly correct. Do not expect one man to conduct a perfect symphonic performance fighting a pandemic in a country as massive as the US. It is a pandemic and the nature of pandemics is to be overwhelmed.

It is a crisis, quite bashing and get it together. This country suffers from a worse malady than corona virus. That is pure hatred.

.

It is hard to deal with never Trumpers.

Ricardo, its no different than teaching a blind person how to drive an 18 wheeler.

Where are the masks and testing??????

We are in this mess because of his lack of leadership, it is insane to argue any other point.

He failed us to preserve himself and now our economy is ruined and people are dying. He is 100% responsible and it is gross to argue any other point

@dltravers ~
Thank You for posting info.

“…an inexpensive Malaria drug that has been widely used for decades in treating covid-19.”

This is impossible. In COVID-19, ‘CO’ stands for ‘corona,’ ‘VI’ for ‘virus,’ and ‘D’ for disease. The 19 stands for 2019. It’s only been around for months, not decades.

Hopefully Chloroquine is effective in treating COVID-19, but it still must be proven.

Joatmeal:

He left off a coma, but he clearly was implying that the treatment has been effective for decades against malaria, and had been proven effective against CV in testing in China, France, and Australia. He is correct.

I I understand tempering our hope that this drug combo could be some kind of miracle cure, but it’s kind of crazy how many people dismiss it out of hand. Almost like they want it to fail so they can keep hating Orange Man.

As far as masks and testing goes (Towards Yogurt), testing mostly falls on CDC bureaucracy from what I’ve seen (by the way, what makes you think your socialized medicine programs will be run any differently?), and masks are the fault of the neoliberal establishment that has run this country for twenty or thirty years, who decided it would be a great and extremely profitable idea to outsource all of our critical medical needs to a communist dictatorship. That latter has been a bipartisan effort, with one notable exception, that being Orange Man.

I get not liking the guy, and disagreeing with stuff he does. But lay off the Rachel Maddow. It’s bad for your mental health.

Mike you keep thinking that and if you get sick make sure they don’t give it to you.
The feds just gave the state of New York thousands of doses of what Trump was talking about.

False and misleading. Contradicted in detail by Dr.Fauci during both Friday and Saturday televised ” task force ” updates.

61,
That is .004% of the people in Contra Costa.

How many CCC residents have been tested though?

I am taking this whole COVID-19 thing seriously, so I am not minimizing. But is there anyone other than myself who thinks that the daily “countdown“ of positive results and deaths is adding to the hysteria? Do we really need this information on a daily basis?

Well, the rate of increase in new confirmed cases will give people an idea of whether the lockdown is having an effect or not. So far the number of new cases has been slow, but today’s is roughly double the past few days, which is not a good sign. Keep in mind though, the incubation is up to two weeks, so we may not see any results for another week or more.

I don’t think keeping the public informed of raw data is hysteria inducing, and I thank Claycord for the information.

Why is it that every post turns political, stay inside, enjoy family, collect the check and keep it moving

For those who would like to split hairs, from three days ago,
“Two drugs, chloroquine and remdesivir, are being designated for Expanded Access, or “compassionate use,” by the FDA to address the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic…”

https://www.pharmacytimes.com/news/fda-announces-two-drugs-approved-for-compassionate-use-in-treating-covid-19

I’ve seen the people dying from the virus are those with comprised immune systems. Why aren’t governments world wide focusing on them. Quarentine them, keep them safe until the virus plays out. Why bring the world economy to a near halt. So many people are going to be without homes, cars, food because of this.
Or maybe that’s what “they” want…

Go read some first hand experiences of the nurses and doctors treating people who do not die and see how awful this is.

We focus on the mortality rate but when the ICU rate is 5-11% it’s awful.

Do not downplay this because you think you know better, because you do not. This is not for fun, this is as serious as it gets and it blows my mind the amount of ignorance on display here

Because that’s not true. How about that?

I agree, we can’t shut things down forever. They expect at least 80% will eventually be infected anyway. I understand they don’t want to overwhelm the medical system but why not separate and quarantine the vulnerable instead of everyone.

regular flu is 10 times more dangerous as the liberals stay focus on something so small, they love panic,is very good for the govt bank book.Oh Ill take the $1000 now for the annoyance, and maybe 2 or three extra under a different name.”when isee headlines on leftist publications that “Trump must resign” you can see the weak and feeble attempt of the cry babies again,a different type of coup attept, but still, its just more comedy.

A majority of the deaths are elderly and people with underlying conditions, especially cardio and pulmonary conditions, yes. But it is also killing some people who seem to be otherwise young and healthy. Also keep in mind, many of the younger healthier people who do recover do so only because of intensive skilled care and ventilator use, and that will not be available to all as the case load ramps up like in Italy.

Denmark and the UK both initially looked at doing things ad you suggest, isolating the elderly and infirm, and letting everyone go about their business to help build herd immunity in the younger, healthy population. They changed their minds though, which leads me to believe they have good reason to believe that method will result in too many deaths.

james -You are wrong. Get your information elsewhere because someone is lying to you.

Well doh, tell us how it is name your sourses, etc, like you leftist always want,or don’t even bother to comment. ,all you want to do is disagree with a voice of reason so you don’t feel like such a gulliBULL., ypu have to perpetuate the lie so you don’t feel so silly. If youre beleiving what the news is hyping, and youre a democrat, the only thing your people are saying to you is lies.Surprise!!if youre wearing a mask and you are,you should then wear it everyday that you are in the USA for the entire time youre alive. This is what they aren’t telling you.The danger is no different than its even been, anyday USA,its just a different flu,and most flus can kill the weak.

How did the decision about how to address a disease that is killing thousands become a war over supporting ot hating Trump? Amazing.

You can’t blame this on Trump when it is the fault of those who insist on traveling internationally. Why do you think Silicon Valley has had such high numbers? Because of the huge numbers of foreigners employed there traveling in and out of the country. Native American populations were decimated by disease when the country was invaded by foreigners. It doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to figure it out.

Liberal orange man bad liberal media, gets my vote.
Now if they can just keep milking it all the way to NOvember.

I could not agree more. No one person, not even a President regardless of who that person is or what political party they belong to, was going to be able to prevent a virus from entering the country.

No one believes North Korea is virus free and that country has border security like none other. If that little despot can’t keep it out no one can.

It is not a war. Trump mislead this country for 2 months down playing its significance, saying things that are just not true (like everyone who wants a test can get one, it will be over when the weather warms, it’s no big deal, etc. A list with dates has been floating around the internet. People are disgusted. At least 800 people have died due to the coronavirus in the United States. I do credit him with appointing some qualified doctors (not Pence) to take charge of our defense effort.

@ Gittyup

your comparisons make no sense. Yes Native American populations were decimated by diseases not know in that population brought in by foreigners who had some level of immunity to these diseases. As you can plainly see in the current case there are no populations with immunity that’s why it is hitting around the globe.

Your xenophobia is unbelievable, yes there is a lot of travel between Silicon Valley and China but not just by foreigners, so don’t blame this on foreigners employed there.

And your thinking is exactly why Trump’s travel restrictions with China failed. Of course it would make sense to try to contain a pandemic and prevent it from spreading, but to do so you have to do this early and vigorously. Trump failed on both counts. While he was briefed about the threat he told everyone that his was just a hoax by the media and when if finally reacted there were so many loopholes in the restrictions that it made no sense, other than blaming foreigners of bringing bad things to America.

JWB: Your interpretation of xenophobia is what others call poor corporate and sovereign risk management, not zenophobia. Trump warned the US was too intertwined with and dependent upon China. Your answer is that it is xenophobia to worry. No, it was poor risk management to have a system dependent upon everything working perfectly and as it has done in the recent past. Trump was 5 years ahead of the curve on the risk of China. Encouraging a constant stream of commerce and people between US and China was not a good idea, and having China manufacture 80% of our antibiotics was idiotic.

@ TDL

of course thinking that foreigners bring the virus in the US and ignoring that the virus doesn’t care how it spreads is exactly what xenophobia means.

And you just need to get over your Total Devotion Syndrome (TDS), if you really believe that Trump wanted to discourage a stream of commerce with China. Have you followed how many tweets he fired off regarding stock market indices over the last three years? How he has been bragging about them? Do you realize that these indices are actually totally overweight by companies like Apple. Do you really think he wanted to discourage Apple from doing commerce in China? It’s exactly the commerce with China which drove the stock market.

And of course he wanted to discourage commerce with China he could have started with his own merchandise years ago.

That TDS comment is priceless when presented in combination asking about my following his tweets. Why are you guy so obsessed? I do not have twitter and do not follow tweets. I also am not watching his press conferences and only looked at the last one some because one of the leftists here was complaining about how he talked to a reporter. Get over the obsessions. It is not healthy to be stalking and sleuthing around to find things to fit into your anti-Trump stories. Do you know chess? Good time to learn.

Why doesn’t the County release meaningful information? Such as how many of the confirmed cases are hospitalized? How many of those originally hospitalized are no longer hospitalized? What cities the cases are from? That is info that can help all citizens evaluate risk. That would not divulge any private info. Pretty evident that confirmed cases will continue to rise, but it is at what rate and seriousness that matters to most.

It’s not your role in this to “evaluate risk”. There are a lot of trained professionals that are doing this. What are you basing your evaluation on? Internet rumors? Facebook lies?

So now we have 61 confirmed cases. I think the Health Department should tell the public where they think contamination took place. That way we could make an informed decision of where to avoid. They need not reveal the names of the infected.

Exactly. And, if one had been any of those places one could monitor any symptoms a little more closely. Or, maybe they just don’t know. Or, maybe they know and the information is so damning they don’t want to release it.

Don’t worry it’s coming to a neighborhood near you soon.

You seem to hope it will,as your kind is wanting this to happen so they can gloat and say they are right.

Imagine if we tracked the flu like this? Everyone calm down its not a death sentence.

Back in November I was sick. Fever, cough, sore throat all symptoms of the coronavirus. I did my due-diligence and stayed home, self medicated and was back to normal with-in a few weeks. Not 100% for about a month though. When the shelter in place was ordered, I was the first to obey in my office. Cancelled all social gatherings (2) and I am doing all I can to protect myself. I don’t stock pile or hoard groceries, but I make sure that I have enough on hand. Please we all need to do the same!
TAKE CARE AND BE SAFE!

For comparison, how many have the regular food and how many died from it?

And what proportion is that of Contra Costa County?

It’s miniscule.

Politicians and the media reports these cases as numbers to play off the public’s fears but states percentages when they don’t want you to hear real bad news.

.004% of the population of 1,147 million in Contra Costa.

Experts are assuming at that for every confirmed case there are 10 other people who have the virus. This estimation could change over the next few weeks. Even by multiplying by 10, these numbers may seem low, but that’s the whole point of taking precautions, is to keep numbers low.

When the virus can cause severe lung damage or death to yourself and others, why take unnecessary risks?

Wake-up call — PLEASE READ THIS CASE:

Male Nurse age 31 NO underlying health conditions. You DO NOT want to get this virus.

COVID19 is not like the flu…at all… How do I know? Because I’ve lived through it to tell the tale!

March 3, 2020-Bronchitis like illness started, dry cough, no fever

March 5, 2020-Low grade fever starts, still thinking bronchitis

March 6, 2020-Fever climbs from 99.8 to 102.6 in one hour, thought it was flu and was now outside the Tamiflu window, stayed home for symptom management.

March 9, 2020-Fever of >102 continues, this isn’t flu, go to urgent care, diagnosed with pneumonia, started on Levaquin.

March 11, 2020-3 doses of Levaquin in, no improvement in symptoms, go to ER. Admitted, swabbed for COVID19, IV antibiotics got pneumonia on chest CT.

March 12, 2020-Get to a room and placed on supplemental oxygen via nasal cannula, 1 liter per minute (lpm). I’m only able to achieve 500 on my incentive spirometer, for perspective-my healthy lungs could hit 4000.

March 13, 2020-O2 saturation begins to decline, oxygen increased to 2 lpm, then 3 lpm, then 5 lpm. Oxygen saturation 88% on 5 lpm. The decision is made to use high flow (vapotherm) and move to ICU. Placed on 40 lpm and 60% oxygen. I’m terrified at this point because vapotherm is all that is standing between me and the ventilator. This is the moment I would have died at home had I not come to the hospital when I did. I would have respiratory arrested in my bed.

March 14, 2020-I have a bad coughing spell, my oxygen saturation drops to the 80’s. I’m still on 40 lpm and 60%. I’m trying to gasp for air, but because of the condition of my lungs, can only take small breaths without coughing more. I feel as though I’m about to die, my heart is racing, oxygen still low, and I’m sweating profusely. Im in respiratory distress! I pressed my call light trying to get the attention of anyone who can help. My nurse was in another room tending to another sick patient. Fortunately he sees me and comes to my room. I am now on 40 lpm and 100% oxygen, next step is the ventilator. I’m terrified. My breathing slows as my oxygen saturation slowly returns to the 90’s. I’m weaned back down to 60%. The same thing happens again in the night, and again I thought I was about to leave this world. Again I’m on 100%, this time for several hours. I’m slowly weaned again to 60%.

March 15, 2020-My morning arterial blood gas (which hurts like a 🤬) is normal. I get weaned to 50%.

March 16, 2020-My oxygen saturation is 97%, I’m weaned further to 30 lpm and 40%.

March 17, 2020-I’ve been in ICU 4 days, forced to use a bedpan because my oxygen saturation drops if I turn or even move too much. I am unable to clean myself; I’m feeling completely helpless and so embarrassed, but my nurses were great and very understanding. I now truly understand my patients’ feelings from all these years of nursing. I’m weaned to 25 lpm and 30%. I’m going to the medical floor.

March 18, 2020-I’m weaned to 28%. I can achieve 1500 on my incentive spirometer finally. I’m hopeful to be weaned to a regular nasal cannula. The provider comes in. I’ve been waiting for my swab results. I tested positive for COVID19…6.5 days of waiting for the outside lab to process the lab. I’m relieved because I finally have a diagnosis, a reason I’ve been so sick. I’m weaned to 4 lpm on a regular nasal cannula, 4 hours later I’m weaned to 2 lpm. 4 hours later I’m weaned to room air. My oxygen saturation stats 93% and above all night.

March 19, 2020-As I write this, I’m waiting to attempt a 6 minute walk test to see if my oxygen stays up, so I can go home. I’ve had no visitors this entire time due to my isolation precautions.

Guys, this is why social isolation is a thing. As a 31 y.o., I wasn’t supposed to get sick. I wasn’t supposed to be admitted to the hospital or the ICU for that matter. We’ve already had several deaths from COVID19 in this area. I thank God I wasn’t one of them! However, many won’t be as fortunate as I have been. Many will die, especially those with any lung or heart problems. So please, I beg you to #stayhome

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m glad you’re doing a bit better. I don’t want to catch this, and I sure as heck don’t want my elderly mom to get it. I really appreciate your making the effort to help.

Another worry list from the perpeuators

Chilling description, it should be required reading for every corona virus denier, Trump should read it, unfortunately, as I understand he is not much for reading. Glad you are doing better.

I’m healthy, but elderly, never had the flu, rarely get a cold, last was 10 years ago. This virus scares me, not panicking though, more so than they others we had, Sars etc. don’t remember countries shutting down at that time, so I can only surmise this is more dangerous. What scares me even more is that the President does not seem to take it seriously, if you listened to his press conference today.

Thanks, but if I stay home I’ll starve to death which I’ve heard is even worse.

Every pandemic starts with a minuscule number of infections and deaths…

It’s what is done while those numbers are minuscule that determines the course over the following months…

You either have some knowledge of science or are listening carefully to the experts and scientists, or you have what is commonly known as, common sense, which unfortunately is not very common.
