As part of the state’s response to address the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Governor Gavin Newsom today declared a State of Emergency to make additional resources available, formalize emergency actions already underway across multiple state agencies and departments, and help the state prepare for broader spread of COVID-19.
The proclamation comes as the number of positive California cases rises and following one official COVID-19 death.
“The State of California is deploying every level of government to help identify cases and slow the spread of this coronavirus,” said Governor Newsom. “This emergency proclamation will help the state further prepare our communities and our health care system in the event it spreads more broadly.”
The emergency proclamation includes provisions that protect consumers against price gouging, allow for health care workers to come from out of state to assist at health care facilities, and give health care facilities the flexibility to plan and adapt to accommodate incoming patients.
Yesterday, the State announced the release of millions of N95 masks to address shortages caused by COVID-19.
Today’s action also follows the announcement earlier this week that the state has secured the capacity to test thousands of specimens from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to expedite testing.

So far this year 328 persons from China have been caught crossing our borders illegally. Given incubation period associated with Corona, World Health Organization says up to 14 days, a person could be inside our borders prior to signs of the illness. Other reporting suggests could be up to 24 days.

FEAR, FEAR, FEAR. That is what they are promoting. Look at flu virus. How many people has that killed this year. Are they taking that to the fear level?
People are stupid to believe all of this crap.
The difference is Influenza has been dealt with in the past. We have studied influenza for decades whereas the corona virus is new and there are still a lot of unknowns. According to an article on live science ( https://www.livescience.com/new-coronavirus-compare-with-flu.html) The mortality rate is higher for the corona virus, 3.37% vs 0.06% for influenza.(Using the raw data and not taking age into account) Again, this has much to do with the unknowns of the corona virus.
People shouldn’t be panicking like they are. As long as you practice good hygiene and you are a healthy adult you should be fine. If you do become sick, stay home! (This is true anytime you are sick) The ones that should take extra precaution are the ones that have respiratory problems, immunocompromised, and the elderly.
However, we should not be taking this virus lightly. There isn’t enough known about the virus and the true impact it will have. The response by the US government has been poor. It’s pathetic that individual states are having to run their own tests and not being able to rely on test results from the CDC. South Korea has run 30,000+ tests while the US has only run about 500.
I know. The president just told Sean Hannity that people should go to work if they are infected with the Corona virus. So, you don’t have a problem with that, right?
Do the math of a mortality rate of 3.4% of the world’s population and see if you’re comfortable with that number.
Answer to your question: So far this season there have been 12,000 flu deaths but could go as high as 30,000 before the season is over according to the CDC. This in spite of the fact that we HAVE seasonal vaccines.

Newsom as Gov. is the real state of emergency for CA.
Governor Nuisance is allowing a cruise ship loaded with exposed passengers some of whom are sick, to enter the port. He thinks his minions will be able to contain the virus but like all human plans, there will be failures and more cases of “unexplained” exposures will happen. This is how you fan the flames of pandemic,
I’m trying to find where the ship is being allowed into port. Do you have a source for that? The latest article says it is being held out at sea.
Also, what is your suggestion with this ship? People need to be offloaded in a safe manner and people need to get the medical treatment they need while others are quarantined, tested, and release. Keeping them indefinitely on a ship is not feasible.
