Maybe someone was trying to stay warm on this cold night, but the homeless situation is out of control and needs to be addressed.

UThe bumbs and junkies are out of control. Most people have friends or family that would take them in. If they don’t , they have made a choice to cut relationships. I have a 20 year old son. At the age of 16 he was making very poor choices that I didn’t know about. By 19 after catching him selling drugs and snorting cheep cocaine. I kicked him out. I didn’t talk to my son for 8 months (it killed me). Today he is back and a blessing. If I didn’t have tough love he would be dead

My point is
Help people don’t make
Excuses

Time to turn our power off..

Christine February 22, 2020 - 9:36 PM - 9:36 PM

Second one this week.
Really detrimental to the businesses there.

empathy February 23, 2020 - 1:20 AM - 1:20 AM

these poor human beings are struggling to survive and are abandoned by society. The executives of these business you speak of have enough wealth that their great great grandchildren will never have to work a day in their life. you are what is wrong with this country. get a grip.

Realist February 23, 2020 - 11:18 AM - 11:18 AM

@empathy I have a friend who chose to leave a family with a very high middle class income and not financially hurting. They had to move because he was robbing his own family. He has chosen to live on the street. I have in my possession mail for him and all it is is shoplifting summons for court.

I have also had a close family member that struggled with mental health and our broken system. This person needed help but our system sucks.

So, I see both sides to this issue. My point is, your statement is a blanket over the actions. You do not know what kind of people did this fire. Just because someone or a company has money, Does NOT make them evil… You are what is wrong.

ClayCat February 23, 2020 - 1:37 PM - 1:37 PM

@empathy what is solution for addicts and homeless that decline help?

Googlar February 23, 2020 - 2:16 PM - 2:16 PM

Empathy does nothing, action is everything. House them, and see your house destroyed. Spend your money on them, and see your money squandered. How many of your resources will you spend on someone else? How many of their resources will they spend on you?

At least they didn’t melt the Interstate highway like the bums in Atlanta did.

Instead of using Caltrans land as homeless campsites why not use land next to a fire station? Or build a fire station next to the campsites. Which ever would cost more money obviously so our governor can say he did something.

Everyone has free will to make their personal choices. I am past feeling sorry and supporting those who make poor choices repeatedly and do not want help and destroy what others have worked so hard for and are forced to support those who do not or refuse to work and contribute to society and conti ue to be lawless.

Stop making excuses for illegals, criminals and entitlements. Bring back law and order and see how fast things turn around. Respect is a two way street.

All day long…….calls are heard on the scanner for DRAMA at the shelter ~ 2047 Arnold Industrial.
Sure, let’s add a few more of those shelters in Concord.
Maybe we should get some First responders to chime in.

Beanzy February 24, 2020 - 9:45 AM - 9:45 AM

Drama among homeless?

Well, thank God they don’t have guns and aren’t shooting people and kids dead like all those homeowning / home-living mass murderers.

Drama. Bah. Harmless stuff to complain about.

Judy February 24, 2020 - 6:59 AM - 6:59 AM

There are different kind of homeless. There are the criminals and drug addicts, these people have chosen the wrong path and to help them is throwing good money at a lost cause. Then there are the disables, and the hard to employ like the mentally slow who need our help to survive. Many Homeless couples with children are in need of help just to feed their children. Some live in car or go from friend to friend spending just a few days at any one place, holding their lives together with a prayer. Yes some homeless will not be helped, but many many more desperately need our help.

Sick of it February 24, 2020 - 7:01 AM - 7:01 AM

It will only get worse thanks to Gavin wanting to put up tent cities for the hobos. As a first responder, MOST of the homeless I have contacted WANT to be homeless. They do not want housing (too many rules).

I met very very few people who were homeless due to “bad luck.” Most of them made multiple bad decisions, and continue to make those poor choices.

PO'd February 24, 2020 - 10:24 AM - 10:24 AM

Correct-they do not want to live with rules. They are effectively feral, and won’t likely return. Newsom will only invite more to exist here and there is more than one state that will pay for a 1-way bus ticket to California.

Pat February 24, 2020 - 9:37 AM - 9:37 AM

No one talks about what to do with the countless people who’ll become homeless next year, 3 years, 5 years (and so on) from now?
