Concord Police Department will conduct a traffic enforcement operation tonight, which is intended to educate drivers and pedestrians on traffic laws meant to keep them safe on the road.

Special attention will be directed toward speeding, red light violations, distracted driving, making illegal turns, not stopping for signs or any other traffic violation.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

and Tinted Windshields

Yep,…some of them are almost like black painted windows.

People actually tint their windshields? That’s crazy.

Red light runners are ridiculous !! A light is like 2 minutes. Not worth hurting someone.

And all the D- – – -s on their phones.

Life is too short for all choices people are making!!

I didn’t realize tinted windows could harm someone!

WINDSHIELDS.

The driver and passenger side windows, by law, must allow 70% of the light to pass into the vehicle. New law. If not, you can be stopped and be given a ticket. Gives the cop another reason to check for other infractions.
Reduces night vision and makes a cop very nervous when they can’t see into a car.

Shouldn’t cops be looking out for that stuff anyway? I mean they NEVER neglect to notice when I do that stuff- even by accident.

So many times I have seen these violations and it surprises me there are not more accidents. The one I see the most is, people making a left turn across a double yellow line,…mostly on Willow Pass Rd. If it makes a difference, we’ll see.

It is legal to turn left across a double yellow line into a driveway.

👍

Thanks Dawg,…didn’t know that.

I thought they were getting paid to do this every day

Careful, CC County Traffic Court has a very broad interpretation as to what constitutes “Distracted Driving”. Enforcement has been given specific guidelines even though its outside the statute.

Sick of driving around with all cars with expired tags. I try to stay away from them since half + don’t have insurance, they can’t get the tag so why pay. I saw a Fed ex van at Bank of America building with 2018 tags. I took a picture of it. Can you not pay for years to send packages, I think not. Six month out and the car can be impounded. Take care of business Concord….

Perhaps the Fed Ex van’s tags had been stolen. That’s a thing, too.

Perhaps the Fed Ex van’s tags had been stolen. That’s a thing, too. Some were saying to cut the tag into four triangular pieces (cut an “X” through it) before putting it on the license plate to make it more difficult to steal.

I always cut my new registration tags diagonally, vertically, and horizontally with an Exacto knife so that you’d have to be really dedicated to try to remove each piece in order to put them on your vehicle.

As long as the drivers with expired tags are driving sensibly (good road manners, signaling, stopping at stop signs/red lights, etc.), I don’t care if there’s a sticker on the plate or not. I do, however, think it is financial suicide to drive without car insurance, regardless if the driver is incensed or not, and regardless if car is registered or not.

Well snap! It’s about time they start enforcing the street laws.

Chance of getting a traffic ticket in California is slim and none. You have a better chance of being struck by lightening…

Funding to inform people not to be ignorant, impatient and reckless drivers.
Like telling college students to be “safe” while binge drinking.
I doubt this will have much of an impact on the teenagers who like to talk, text and drive, while their soccer moms do the same.
Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

If this works, I hope they bring it to Walnut Creek. The red light running on Ygnacio Valley Road is epidemic. Ever seen a video of what happens to a car and it’s occupants when T-boned at 50 MPH? Not pretty.

Is it legal to drive with a dog in your lap? I have seen these many times…seems pretty dangerous to me.

My pet peeve is tailgaters, because they turn single-vehicle incidents into multiple-vehicle accidents. They also make it unsafe to brake quickly to.avoid road hazards.
