They beat Aquinas 10-7 tonight at Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA to win the championship.

Mc B, all five of those losses were to Division 1 teams, all of whom made the NCS playoffs, and one of which plays tomorrow for the state title in the open division.

It goes back to the early 70’s. The football coach wanted his players to be clean cut and presentable – not popular among teens in that era. So the players grew beards and long hair, prompting the coach to dub them “Ugly Eagles”

Congrats Ugly Eagles. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you sell your school’s soul to athletics and compromise every other facet of your school for the sake of a plastic trophy! The amount of money flowing into the football program alone could probably add several teachers for the school and upgrade the existing facilities. Instead, you have athletes coming from all over the area to the school with NO interest in education. Shame on CVCHS leadership. Again, congrats on your plastic trophy.. it sure cost the school A LOT!

The boys on that team have been working hard for years as a team and truly deserve that win, It was those boys that one not the school. I agree with everything else said above about the school; absolutely terrible administrators and should’ve never got their charter renewed.

That nickname popped up decades ago, and then at some point it was not considered PC and was not used, and then brought back.
The Ugly Eagles were in the late 80’s. Now renewed again.

I can only imagine how many F bombs were dropped by the CVCHS parents and fans at the State Championship game. If it was half of what they dropped in the game against Elk Grove it still would have been rated R if not X. Way to support the KIDS.
Always a couple that just can’t accept a loss. Lemme guess. You missed the kid who tried fight Coach Murphy instead of shake his hand. Or… maybe you missed the coach that talked crap at half time. Oh wait. Maybe you missed the fumble at the 1 ya line that was ruled a TD. At the end of the day. The Uglies did some work and won a state championship. Way to go uglies!!
Yeah, the “Uglies” did some work like for years keeping enrollment at just under 2000 students so they could play D2. But then when CIF changed the rules, CV allowed in like half of Pittsburg and Antioch when they moved up to D1…but they couldn’t hang so kept the over the hill influx coming in while also maneuvering back down to D2.
They were the Ugly Eagles when I graduated in 73
