PG&E has issued a reminder to its customers that the utility provides free in-home safety inspections of gas appliances and relighting of pilot lights ahead of the colder winter months.
People can call (800) 743-5000 to schedule an inspection of appliances such as water heaters, furnaces and ovens, according to PG&E.
The utility also recommends that people install carbon monoxide detectors, to never use products like generates or propane heaters inside since they can generate dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, and to make sure fireplaces have the flue open so venting can occur.

PG&E has always offered this service.
Those free inspections can also be an inventory of people’s homes so they know who has gas appliances.
When the state decides to ban natural gas, PG&E will know where to go to remove appliances.
At least that’s my guess since the Laws of the Land are no longer observed here in the land of the Left, or Northern Venezuela.
It’s already known based on the fact that you have a gas meter on the side of your house – with usage.
Everyone wanted Government so involved, we’ll they’re involved alright……..they can request your information / usage etc. Have you ever read the smart meter online graphs User Agreement that you need to agree to in order to look at your usage?
Anon just because there is a gas meter present outside a domicile doesn’t mean the proprietor is using the service.

Well then there wouldn’t be any usage on the gas meter.
The PGE website is pretty cool. You can track your hourly electricity use and gas use. Which means your usage can be seen and tracked by others. Big brother, PGE, hackers, etc.
By the way, nothing is free. Anything that PGE does, you are paying for in some way.
OMG – I can’t believe that folks have conspiracy theories about natural gas appliances.

Much of electricity these days is produced by burning natural gas.
OR is the push to eliminate natural gas in homes because as number of homes increase, additional high cost natural gas transmission lines would have to be built ? ? ?
Is this push nothing more than a ploy by politicians to save a utility money, they would have to spend on new gas pipelines AND maximizing customer’s use of electricity which is their most lucrative product???
These inspections are NOT FREE. They’re paid for through the rates that we all pay. Nothing is free!!!
Inspections are nice…now how about proactive maintenance to halt the blackouts.
