The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.

Today’s question:

People all over the nation are waiting hours in line, getting in fights, crashing their cars, and in one case, murdering each other because of the wildly popular new chicken sandwich at Popeyes.

QUESTION: Have you tried the new chicken sandwich? If so, was it good? Also, would you wait over an hour in line for any type of fast food?

Talk about it….

No, no, and hell no.

Completely Agree

Not interested one bit. The only place I will wait in line for food is Luigi’s Delicatessen…Just figured out what is for lunch today 🙂

Eh, I ordered Luigi’s off Door Dash once. Was not impressed..=T

Maybe get off your lazy ass and actually go to.luigis next time notsogood… Luigis is BOMB

No and no.

I had one in the beginning before they ran out. It was delicious but would never wait in line for anything

No and Definitely No

I was hoping you’d pick up on my comment, thanks 🙂

I have not tried it, but was wondering if it was worth the wait/drama 😉

Not worth cutting in line

Cleanliness, friendliness & comfortableness are (much) more important than any food item…the last Popeyes I went to (years ago) was a disgrace and I haven’t seen or heard of any reason to go back. As for waiting over an hour, I normally wouldn’t do that for any restaurant…fast or not

I recently went to popeye”s in Concord. After seeing that they wanted nearly $12 for a combo meal, I left and went elsewhere.
Waiting for an hour is not “fast food “.

Mike – Where did you end up buying your combo meal? Did it meet your expectations? It seems to me $!0-$12 is becoming the norm for that type of takeout meal.

A deep fried, crusty chicken patty between 2 slices of bread (bun) just doesn’t appeal to me. I DO like their regular chicken and sides and stop in a few times a year. Went there last Sunday and couldn’t get into the parking lot so I just left.

What is so special about a chicken sandwich?

Went to popeyes not too long ago, It was the worst chicken ever. Will not go back any time soon.

If I have to wait an hour for it, I’m afraid it’s not really fast food. I try to eat at home as much as possible, but occasionally when running errands, appointments, etc., I’ll grab something on the way home. Popeye’s has been somewhat of a disappointment in that the quality is inconsistent.

The macaroni and cheese is excellent, but the rice and beans were more like bean soup with rice. The crispy strips were great until I got some that must have been left in the warming tray too long. They were more like chicken jerky. The butterfly shrimp have been pretty good, but the portion size is skimpy and the cost is too steep to make it justifiable on any but the rare occasions when I’m really, really exhausted or there’s really, really nothing at home to eat.

For the same amount of money, I can go to Panda Express and get three times the amount of food for the money, making for a nice reheated leftover lunch the next day. Then, there’s the fact that you can get two whole rotisserie chickens at Safeway or Lucky for what it costs for three crispy strips, a side and a drink … and, several whole uncooked chickens. I may try the chicken sandwich at some point, but I’ll wait until all the hysteria dies down. Based on my experience with Popeye’s, I can’t imagine it is all that.

I agree 100%

The best chicken sandwich is from Bakesale Betty 5098 Telegraph Ave.Oakland. They are only open 11:00AM -2:00PM Tues-Sat. The lines are long but move very fast.It is worth the drive and the wait.Popeye’s,fast food buzzard, no thanks……

I went to Popeyes when it first opened and the food wasn’t good. I went back maybe a year later and nothing changed. I won’t be going back.

Hell no…. Whenever there is an uproar in the US over a product I make sure not to get said product.. that thing looks like shi!t Id rather eat real food in an amazing atmosphere like eds mudville grill in clayton

Step one, go buy an organic, locally raised free range chicken. Step two, cook it. Step three, enjoy healthy living.

We went. It was very good. Not much difference from waiting in the lines at in-n-out or chik fil a.

Popeyes is straight garbage. Chick-fil-a is really good but our city Council won’t let them move into concord..because some people Are brainwashed

There is perfect location for them out in front of Lowes. They don’t belong in the old Hungry Hunter location.

It is just a chicken sandwich.

This hysteria over a damn sandwich is a great example of stupid people group think – which is how we got most of our elected officials in Kalfornistan.

Chick-fil-a is much much better! Better food, better service, cleaner, employees have great manners. Also feel good about bringing my kids there.
Popeyes not so much…..

That is so crazy! I’ve got no interest in being involved in anything like that. And no way! But I don’t eat that kind of stuff anyhow.

Nope. Popeye’s is total trash food.
They try to market themselves as being better than KFC, but they are KFC with slightly better customer service. Their food is not much better except with a little different seasoning, if you can even call it that.
At least maybe at Popeye’s you can get the food you ordered without having to listen to employees cuss at each other and wait for 20 minutes getting your trash. I will pass.

Not at all interested. It’s just a fast food sandwich. Geez.

Hell no! I’ll wait a few weeks for the buzz to die down, and then try it when the wait is five minutes or less.

No thanks, living nearby and smelling the nasty grease smell everyday is beyond enough. 🤮
