Firefighters extinguished a blaze this morning just before 10 a.m. behind Sloat Garden Center on Kirker Pass Rd., near Olive Dr. in Concord.
This was a vegetation fire, the cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.

Homeless. My guess is homeless.
It certainly wasn’t spontaneous combustion.
Thank you fire fighters! I’m surprised it’s not a block down on the corner of Ayers and olive. That place has enough overgrown dry brush to start a fire with one spark not to mention it is an eye sore!
No proof but I’ll bet it was the homeless guys living under Clayton Rd.
My guess …. Transients smoking meth while on probation.
My guess is it’s a bunch of rich people that don’t want to spend money on weed abatement and proper resource management. Oh wait…that’s PGE
I live in that neighborhood and I want to say a huge thank you to Fire Engines 11 and 22 for getting there so quickly and putting a lot of firefighters on that fire. Thank you for saving our homes.
Salty here..
It was probably set by the homeless meth heads that camp in that area. They hit Safeway for free food they steal then go through the tunnel that’s behind safeway that goes under Ygnacio to over by Sloat.
They light all kinds of bonfires to cook on and stay warm. They need to look into this. It’s a dangerous situation.
Salty OUT!!!!
Of course its the homeless they’ve been living under that bridge and behind Safeway for years.Clayton Is full of old men on bicycles that live in every nook and cranny.
They aren’t Meth heads, they are victims of incorrect ingestion.
Salty here.
Exactly. Meth Heads..
Salty OUT!
