Gov. Gavin Newsom Sunday declared a statewide emergency as fire rages in the North Bay and other parts of California.
Wind gusts are high, humidity is low and evacuations have been ordered for parts of Santa Rosa and the area between Windsor and Healdsburg in Sonoma County, among other areas.
According to Cal Fire, the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County has burned about 30,000 acres and was only 10 percent contained as of Sunday afternoon.
In Southern California, the Tick Fire has prompted the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents.
“We are deploying every resource available, and are coordinating with numerous agencies as we continue to respond to these fires,” Newsom said in a statement.
“It is critical that people in evacuation zones heed the warnings from officials and first responders,” he said.
Newsom’s office said that earlier in the week the governor secured Fire Management Assistance Grants to help ensure sufficient the resources were available to extinguish the Kincade and Tick fires.
The grants will also help agencies at the local, tribal and state levels recover eligible costs that the fires have caused.
“Elections have consequences”. Spent his whole career in state politics catering to special interests rather than actually governing. Now when years of neglecting basic services finally catches up to us all he can do is point fingers. This is exactly what we should expect from corrupt one party rule.
VERY good story from Los Angeles Times a little over a year ago goes into detail, ‘ How eight elite San Francisco families funded Gavin Newsom’s political ascent ;
