Was the Farmers Market taking place?

That’s horrific.

Trunk or treat and the farmers market are going on there.

I was there with my family for trunk or treat it was in the heart of downtown. So scary and sad tried to keep my kids from seeing anything. Hopefully everyone will be ok.

Farmers market is now closing down. There are a lot of kids trick or treating at the businesses. The tree is next to Starbucks and I heard a little girl was injured.

Tree is across from Starbucks. It fell across Main Street.

Yes, across the sidewalk. It fell on the benches.

It did not fall across Main St.

It fell across the sidewalk which you can see in the picture. It’s not even in the street.

It actually fell across the sidewalk and on top of the benches, just outside of the entrance to Starbucks.

If the weather conditions are poor, stay indoors unless it’s an emergency. Common sense doesn’t exist these days.

Sorry to see this. I am usually downtown right there on Sundays for the farmers market. But this event is usually very crowded so I told friends I would be avoiding it this year. And yes the event should have been cancelled. I suspect questions will indeed be asked.

I don’t even like to drive around Martinez when we have winds like this. Too many trees that could fall on you.

Hey, mayor rob should have canceled both events .

How could any body know a particular tree would fall in a particular place. Should we all walk around in bubble wrap? Just in case?

Usually, trees get blown down every year during winter storms, especially if the soil is saturated. Over the past half dozen winters, every cold front has been wimpy with mild wind and rain. Most of the trees that are falling now should have blown down years ago.

Large trees and high wind is never a good combination. In last few years have been several stories on Claycord about, think they were Oak trees taking out vehicles parked underneath them. Eucalyptus trees are known to have limbs tear off and drop which is why cities have been cutting them down.

No need to be paranoid, just be aware of surroundings and consider what might happen.

That’s what my family is saying Sandra G 👍🏼

I heard the reason for so many tree falls is because of the last drought. So we can expect more. 😩

I can’t tell by looking at the picture on my phone, but what kind of tree is it?

Oak. They shut down Main Street and cut down four more oak trees.

CaptB.S. good job spreading false info. Australian Willow fell, 4 non-fruiting Ornamental Pear trees infected with fire blight where removed

CAPTbebops good gob spreading false information. An Australian willow tree fell and 4 ornamental pear trees where cut down.

That is what they reported on the news including interviewing a city crew member.

Next thing you know our great “tree town” will start chopping down more trees. I am very sorry these people were hurt. Prayers for them all.
