As we previously reported, Cold Stone Creamery in Pleasant Hill’s Crescent Plaza was forced to close on Oct.14 after health inspectors found a cockroach infestation.
Inspectors returned on Oct.16 to re-inspect the restaurant, but instead of giving them permission to re-open, they told them to remain closed.
More cockroaches were discovered by inspectors on Oct.16, according to the report, which stated the following:
- Observed one live adult cockroach inside water well unit for holding ice cream scoops.
- One live juvenile cockroach on wall above three compartment ware washing sink.
- Two dead juvenile cockroaches on floor underneath three compartment ware washing sink.
- One live juvenile cockroach on wall surface across from three compartment ware washing sink.
- Two adult dead cockroaches on floor near restroom door entrance.
- One live juvenile cockroach on floor adjacent to restroom door entrance.

- One dead juvenile cockroach on floor in front of janitorial mop sink.
- One live juvenile cockroach on floor in front of walk in freezer door along with one egg shell casing.
- Two dead adult cockroaches on floor inside walk in freezer unit.
- One live adult cockroach on floor underneath back of left side soft serve machine and one live juvenile on floor in front of machine.

This is the fourth time since December of 2017 this Cold Stone location has been inspected and forced to close due to cockroaches.
Chipotle, Sweet Tomatoes and Jack’s, which are located on each side of Cold Stone, have never been closed, and have always passed inspection.

That place needs better management.
It needs new ownership.
How hard can it be to keep that place clean? There isn’t that much food to manage.
“Two adult dead cockroaches on floor near restroom door entrance.”
Nobody cares at this location. In front of the bathroom entrance? After it’s already been shut down? How many employees/managers walked by and didn’t do anything? Unbelievable.
Inside the area that holds ice cream scoops?! Wow- that’s pretty horrible. Sounds like a cockroach party all over.
Sugar is a major draw for bugs. Also, the state and county are trying to get rid of the stuff that they say causes obesity. That being said…..
Looks like a job for MIB.
Sounds like there may be a new vacancy in Crescent Plaza soon
I live in PH the management has always been bad. They often don’t open on time and close early. A business owner with a prime location you think would make the most of it. A Basiin Robbins might be better for the area.
I’d rather have Salt & Straw
May as well just make it a new flavor
Mint De Roach. yum.
I agree :Rocky Roach”
Did the juvenile cockroaches have to show their ID’s?
Clearly the owner does not care at all about this place. They have been shut down four times now and nothing changes, usually they can put on a “show” and keep it clean for a week or so, but not here. It needs to be closed permanently.
So dirty that even the roaches die??? Stone Cold Dead, as far as I’m concerned. You couldn’t pay me to eat at this place. But no doubt they will stay open because of foot and mouth traffic.
